We are expecting higher than usual temperatures for today. 60F AKA 15C.

I have a lot of stuff I want to get dropped off at a local thrift store and food bank. Dh also let me know that he needs something from Costco. He also wants chicken for supper, so I'll pick one up while I'm there.

I flipped the laundry over before I sat down here, so I am trying to be productive. I also did a quick mop between the bedroom door and the bathroom. Dh has gone to get a coffee from a drive thru.

I vacuumed the mat in the back hallway and then washed the floor in the hall and the bathroom floor got swept and washed again. I also did part of the kitchen floor again. I've also put away all of the clean laundry.

We'll only get up to 9C today, Cathy, and supposedly rain.

Dd's MIL is in TBay and she had heavy rain yesterday and quite warm. Because of the lake, we tend to get more of her weather than yours, so I expect the heavy rain. No wind warnings here.

I've been trying to learn how to use the Authenticator that comes with my 1Password account to set up 2FA on more accounts. I have successfully used it to get into Facebook but haven't tried it from my phone yet. I don't have the FB or Messenger apps on my phone so need to sign in through a browser. I had a suspicious sign-in last night, which is what has triggered all this.

Since I'm not using the authenticator, I needed to download the extension into my secondary browser in order to have access to the codes. That took a while since I had to figure out how to set up extensions on that browser which turned out needing me to update the browser. It is all done now, and works.

Now I'm off to the shower.

We get wind tomorrow and some storms then but ours aren't expected to be severe.

I rescheduled the vet appointment for the dog this a.m. It was only for a shot and nail trim, but I don't want her to be wound up already from that when the invisible fence guy comes here.

Having my breakfast. I am just all over the place still.

DH said his tummy was off so I ended up not cooking last night and we eventually ate leftovers. (Tummy probably off from grilled cheese sandwich for lunch, ya think?) I went to the Zoom meeting - one gal dropped in late and could only be there a few minutes, and another didn't make it. So it was nice is was short and sweet. Of our group of four originally, one is certified now and has done testing for second and third level of an Accredited Genealogist designation. Another, who works in genealogy professionally already also has tested for A. G. for the second and third level and is coordinating a course at a major genealogy institute next year. One is still working on her portfolio, and there's me, who has submitted. I don't think I will go for the A.G. certification.

Harriet, I'm encouraging dh to eat "real food" but his mindset is processed low fat and diabetic stuff. He did some reading about what he shouldn't eat and suggested he see a nutritionist - to which I heartily agree. I hope he will follow through because he's said it before and of course, never done it. He he thinks he is very observant re: diabetic but that means he excludes most fruits and is overly rigid. (Witness my trip to Wendy's for fruit - apple - and a "grilled chicken sandwich" with lettuce and tomato that he ate w/o bread. I also got him a Caesar salad with chicken, which I ended up eating last night with some leftover chili.)

After insisting he couldn't drive or go back to work yet he finally read the discharge instructions and understood that he can do what he wants. He was asking me earlier about driving him to his Rotary meeting on Friday and I said I would, but encouraged him to read the discharge papers. Which backfired because now he wants to go to temple for a presentation tonight. Sigh. I was hoping to not leave the house but whatever.

Need to finish a.m. routine. Like I said, my mind is everywhere.

I was up on time sleep was up and down last nite.
I am glad yesterday is over to be honest was not feeling all that chipper feeling some better today.

Glad I got fabric for two more gift bags pressed cut and pinned for my next projects.
I do need to think about curtains for a small window in what I call the tool room now.
At least when I clean down stairs it stays that way unlike the upstairs which is my main floor.
Got one surface cleared off in there this week. yea!
Glad the days are at least getting longer now.
We had winds on Mon. here it is calm today yea.

Did my arm stretches first b/c I can do them while still in bed!

(((Blessedw2))) keeping you in my thoughts as your DH comes home today from a long stay in hospital.

I use Two Factor Authentication (2FA) on all my important online accounts. I don't worry too much about my password being broken/hacked because they must also have access to my phone in order to gain access to my account. My phone stays with me 100% of the time so the chances become extremely small for someone to successfully hack online password AND have access to my phone at the same time.

The wind has disappeared, and we have bright sunshine with 70F today. The fence contractor is here working today. I have known these guys since they were born so it somewhat eases my discomfort to have people working here. I don't like having people in my space, but I do trust them.

I will be cooking to feed church family tonight. It is a super simple meal that I've done several times. It will take me about 3 hours to cook but only 2 of those hours are 100% hands on. I need to remain vigilant with my hourly step goal today because when I cook my steps drop. I can be on my feet in the kitchen for the entire hour and still get less than 250 steps.

DH volunteered to make a multi-stop errand trip to the city for me. I wanted to do it yesterday but ran out of time. I don't have time to do it today and it can't be put off anymore.

Conversation with DD11 this morning -
Me - remember you had an overabundance of sugar yesterday so be aware that you might have headache & mood swings today from the withdraw.
DD11 - I didn't have very many sweets yesterday.
Me - you started the day eating lemon bundt cake before you went to school. At school you had a valentine party with ice cream sundaes, cookies & candy. You exchanged valentines with your friends with most of them being candy. You came home and ate butternut cheesecake, red velvet cake and lemon bundt cake.
DD11 - Ohhhh yeah. I did have a lot of sweets yesterday. I'll eat lemon bundt cake this morning so I won't have sugar withdraws.

Homeschool is underway - English 3 curriculums, Math 2 curriculums, Spanish, Science, and Civics. Then he will attend 5 hours of non-accredited but very effective vo-tech type training (carpenter, plumbing, electrical, mechanical) ….aka work.

LadyM: my worry is my phone will be stolen from me. Or worse, break, making signing into anything harder. There is also the complication that to get a text we must be in Canada and within the reach of cell towers. Neither is a given: no cell service at Hay Lake and now that the 3g network is being shut down in the US, our phones, which should get texts there, are no longer working. Europe is a whole other mess.

So for trivial things, I like to skip on the text 2FA because it gives companies that don't have a need for my phone number, my phone number. In particular, I hate FB so don't want them to have my phone number. All our banking using 2FA with our phones as does google.

We also do not have banking apps on our phones or use them for banking at all.

Dh and I walked one lap with ddog in light mist and he was walking another lap with dog. She will need drying off when they return.

Stopping to put my feet up while checking & updating my hourly tasks and cooking tasks list.

The first hour of cooking is done. Now I only just need to monitor and stir occasionally for the next 5 hours. At 4pm I'll transfer the food to the big kitchen at church to do 100% hands-on cooking & setup. We start serving food at 5:45pm.

The first 5 hours of my hourly schedule are completed except for my daily Duolingo Spanish lesson. I do the Spanish lessons separately from DS14 because he is more advanced than I am. DH and DS14 are better at Spanish than I am......I suspect everyone is better at Spanish than I am.....but I keep trying. I lack proficiency but I am doing well with consistency. Hopefully it will eventually result in being able to speak, write and understand Spanish someday.

Homeschool is processing smoothly. DS14 likes to try do his assignments by himself but sometimes even the video and text explanations need further. I've stopped twice today to show him hands-on examples. It usually only takes a minute or two of my time showing examples to DS14 before the light bulb of understanding comes on then he continues by himself.

Hey, all! Today has been something of a desk day, though mostly unplanned. The only planning was that I was going to take the kids to the bank to get the custodial accounts DM had established for them in their names. So I called to see whether we could just drop in to the branch to do that, or if we'd need an appointment. Well, we'd definitely need an appointment -- the accounts will need to be closed and new ones opened. Normally, DM would need to close the accounts, but she's incapacitated. (Sadly, she's at the point where she is bedridden, can't speak, seldom opens her eyes, and is on oxygen. I'd say she is not long for this world, but I would've said that a year ago.) So my brother, who has power of attorney, can do that. Except he's given them the power of attorney documents twice, and they have no record of them. Thing is, she's been denied Medicaid based on these accounts. I wonder if, once the accounts are closed, and the girls have the money, they will still deny her, as if she had just given the kids that money.

Meanwhile, Dfriend has texted about me starting back up writing for the folks she works with. I'd like to increase my rate; she doesn't think that will be a problem. So now I need to contact the agency they have me working through and see what needs to be done.

We have the wind today and warm temperatures, about the same as Cathy. Tomorrow is supposed to be cold again and colder still on Friday. Warm days and cold nights are preferred for maple sugaring; I don't know what warm days followed by cold days will do. But then, it's been a few years since we got our syrup locally, so I suppose it won't make much difference to us. I just still think of it in this weather.

Next up will be some lunch, followed by contacting the temp agency.
