White as snow Wed.
we got 2-3"
Woke around 4:00 up after sleeping well and all was quiet outside and we had a blanket of unexpected snow on the ground.
It is pretty some is melting on the driveway, but the deck and patio still is not melted so removing that after day lite will be some of my exercise.
It is still coming down in flurries.
2 rounds of snow / slush removal done.
What are you up to today?
I could clean a few things and try to get them white as snow.
Bus routes are doing snow schedule.
Made a yummy breakfast.
Desk duty done.

Re: White as snow Wed.
Good morning Nancy
No snow here, which is good since I'm meeting a dfriend for lunch. Otherwise I would love to see some snow falling.
Cuop recently, & wanted to tell Mystery I'm so glad you hadn't gotten onto the highway before you had car trouble.
Nice that you can work from home right now, Elizabeth. Hope your foot is healing well, & a belated happy birthday to your dd.
Blessed, you have so much going on in your life right now. Glad that your dh is home with you.
Dee, so glad that Mr Dee is improving & all necessary tests have been done. Hope his Dr appt goes well today.
Harmony, I'm sorry you have so much complicated paperwork to deal with. A thought -- in future, do you think your dh would be willing to work strictly on a volunteer basis part time? Through a church, or Habitat for Humanity maybe? It might fulfill his need to work but this way he could just show up, use tools that are provided, share his expertise & leave when he is tired.
Kathryn, I liked your interesting opening posts the other day about macros.
I want to write a check for credit card bill before I leave today since I'll be driving past the post office. Leftovers for dinner. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

No snow or ice here yet. We are expecting a "major storm" but other than wind, we have nothing. Dh and I took a load of tires to the landfill. Nobody except us in the entire place. There are always other vehicles going in and out.
We are having a salmon casserole tonight. Dh wants shells for the pasta and I will make green peas to go with it.

Re: White as snow Wed.
I'd love snow here but out winters seem to be too warm these days. We'll be in the high seventies today.
I am enjoying not having something to rush off to today, but I need to get myself moving unfortunately. Next week looks like an easier week, but OTOH, next week begins March. How did that happen?

~~~waving Hello to all~~~~
I hope you enjoy the snow! We have bright sunshine & temps in the mid 70F/24C today.
I am off my hourly schedule again today but am tracking and putting in the effort. I saw a saying that rang true - It does get easier, but you have to do it every day. That’s the hard part
We have 30+mph wind today so the fence project is paused. Hopefully, DS14 will make more progress on the tree cutting project. I am thankful the trees are now on the ground which lessens my anxiety of DS14 working up high with chain saw. I am also thankful getting the trees onto the ground was accomplished without damaging the neighbors 6" wooden fence. Now it is just a matter of cutting the trees up, loading and hauling to the burn pit. It will probably take a dozen pickup loads to accomplish that.
On our menu today is country style ribs, mashed potatoes, and corn on the cob. Tonight's meal with the church family is Taco Boats (aka loaded nachos).
Homeschool is in progress.
Re: White as snow Wed.
I've walked the dog. Nice weather, the screen porch door is open and she's hanging out there. May need a/c on before day is over.
I am going to work a round of 45 min, beginning at BOTH. I'll stop at :15 after the next hour. I need to do some paper planning and get thoughts down, and continue with unnamed things that need to be done but I haven't done yet, and haven't organized myself to do. I think I am going to wait until Friday for groceries, in particular so I can get some nice fruit for our dessert.
I'm "gifting" an article to you all...from NYT but it's about "Task Paralysis" a familiar feeling to many of us. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/12/well ... =url-share
I think we were offline for a couple of minutes. Site wasn't responding. I'm finishing my wrap and going again to :15 after the hour. Just doing general straightening up, refreshing rooms, continuing with laundry.
Twins - thanks for gifting that article. I tend to take notes when I read something like that. Here are my notes -
• break task into tiny steps. These steps should be “ridiculously small". The measuring stick is that your task should be so small that you feel no resistance.
• The steps need to be concrete, restricting you to the time, location and duration when you’ll get a certain thing done.
• Take some of the pressure off by telling yourself it’s OK if you do a bad job.
• take a first step, any first step. Starting with the smallest or easiest item can build confidence and momentum. Once you get going, the work tends to flow more easily.
• Pair a pleasant task with an unpleasant one, like doing a crossword while you’re on hold with your health insurance provider. “You use something you like to do to reward something you don’t like to do,”
• The key is to teach your brain. Doing so builds both confidence and good habits for the next time
Homeschool is done.
Lunch is cooked, served, enjoyed and cleaned up.
The tasks assigned to the first 5 hours of my day have been completed.
Re: White as snow Wed.
Snow and ice pellets are both here. The mail person came and the flag went up, so I made the trek to the mailbox and going east against the wind and snow quickly let me know it wasn't just snow. It hurt. Thankfully I could just lean over a bit so my face wasn't getting it. The walk back up the driveway was a lot easier because the wind was pushing me. So happy I am back in the house.
Re: White as snow Wed.
Wow, cathy. That's some weather you're having.
Thank you for the article, Twins. I had to scroll up and read it twice because it had so much stuff in it. I get stuck in the perfectionism part, to do only part of a task means an incomplete job done and that is wrong. I know some things take a long time because to do only part of it is unsatisfying to me. So sometimes I don't even get started...I don't have time to do the whole thing or its too overwhelming a job, so it never gets done. a/k/a my garage problem. (Plus I'm annoyed that I'll even have to do it because it's not MY mess.)
I watched a video yesterday about the question of are we really behind in things. If we're using our time wisely and doing as much as we're physically and mentally able to do, procrastinating on something might be a way of preserving our brain's stress level. I'll have to think about that.
Dove, I've suggested something like that to DH. Part of his desire to work is to have productive work that results in income. Volunteering (though he does do some of that at church) does not give him the same feeling of accomplishment. He has been supporting himself since he was around 14. Maybe even earlier. I keep reminding him the work he did all his life resulted in the SS checks that come every month and he earned that, so he doesn't need to work now. But that doesn't seem to totally cure the problem. His identity is all mixed up with working. Without doing that he's still a lazy bum. I think that's the problem workaholics have. It's a real addiction.
I think it doesn't help that he still has a level of energy, despite his joint problems, that makes him feel better if he gets out and does something. I wish he'd transfer that energy to doing stuff around here, but that never happens.
Well, anyway, I am working on my study. I was up late working on those audit papers. I had a lot of problem trying to get all the scanned pages into one file and never did accomplish that. I actually had to open up a windows fax and scan program, which was not visible on any of the settings or menus on this computer. Not sure how I actually accomplished that. Some instructions said to use the prompts from the B rother owners manual....which I can't do because ours came with no disk to download, only instructions to read it online. Other years they gave a fax number for the audit papers and I was done in about a minute. Why do people not fax any more? Infinitely easier!
