Thursday PWYC - Make it yours!

Post by Twins' Mom »

Make today your own - what is it you need today? Some time for yourself? An extra pair of hands? to "bear down" and just get it done?

And Welcome Home to Ken! Praying all is going well there! Sending virtual helping hands and a hug to Kathryn and anyone today (bw2?) who needs them today.

I am heading out in 45 min for the car dealership to get new tires, and hoping it's not a long day waiting. I'll take my laptop so I can amuse myself. Thinking of trying for a pedicure this afternoon, but if I come through at home after the car work, I suspect it will be hard to pry me out again.

I panicked just now when I saw someone on Facebook wish a Happy St. Patrick's day today, but it is tomorrow!

It doesn't take long to get a new set of tires hung. Maybe an hour. Keep in mind they have to take the tires off the rims and put the new ones on to the rims. Quite honestly, that is the hardest part of the job. Waiting for the machine to actually remove the tire from the rim takes time. The machines are slow. Plus they have to balance the tires on a different machine.

Dh took 1 bag of garbage and 1 bag of recycling to the end of the driveway. I did the composting bin and another bag of garbage and another bag of recycling.

Dh and his helper are waiting for a customer to show up. I have no idea what they will be doing to the car.

Dh has a call in to a local company to come drain our septic system. I might need to stay home from knitting.

We are having turkey thighs for supper. Dh wants green beans and sliced sweet potatoes to go with it.

Cathy, they estimated a couple of hours - I'm sure they are on the high side so people don't get upset waiting. And sometimes there's someone ahead too. They said 2.5 hrs today. I have my laptop and they have water and good coffee and good internet so I don't mind a reasonable wait.

~~~Waving Hello to all~~~~
I am halfway between regular mode and spring break mode. It feels like that leaves me in relax & do whatever you want mode. Yesterday i followed my hourly schedule until 1pm and then got sidetracked into a couple projects. Today I am starting out sidetracked so who knows where my path will take me today.
I did my 250+ steps in the garden last hour. I dug up a weed with a long tap root and tossed the big clump of dirt over the new fence. I was surprised when it stopped its flight in midair and reversed direction to come back on top of me. I knew the solid fence would block the strong wind some, but I didn't realize how much until that experience. The fence is almost done. They just have one more gate to build & hang. This remaining gate is a 12' drive through gate with an archway over it.
Micro has an appt with groomer this morning. DH has volunteered to make the hour drive to drop him off.
Sounds like my stay in the hospital waiting room this weekend. Open to the public and a good option to spend some quiet time getting things done on laptop.
It is raining so my time outside is paused. The weather people do love their drama. They are predicting tornados and gorilla hail for us later today. I find myself wondering who comes up with the term gorilla hail? My pizza making friend is doing storm chasing today. He drove 4 hours away to chase the storm as it approaches & passes over us.
Apparently today is not going to be a highly productive day for me. I have only finished the tasks assigned to the first hour of the day. I am thankful that I have the option to be in slow mode.
hello
make it my own - I am trying to create a time that is my own. I have to force myself to put it at a certain time otherwise I don't take me time.
it's not always easy but I know it's important -- thank you d twins to remind me to do that for myself today :D
The ent associate is now saying that he won't put the new trac in - dh has a complicated throat.
I will say this has been crazy. No one wants to deal with it even if the surgeon put it in. The speech therapist and the pulmonologist said it needs to be smaller. Keeping my fingers crossed.
hi d lady
hi d twins
hi d Nancy
hi d cathy
hi d everyone!
My computer has been slow and I have had a hard time coming here but I am here now!!! :D :D :D
it is always a joy to be here with you!
My computer is slow as well, Blessed. Hope things get better and work out well for you Dh/trac. Being on the 'caring' side as so many here will attest, is not an easy task.
That being said, I'm glad Ken is home and hoping the 'caretaking' for Kathryn is fairly good. At this point that's just about the most many of us can hope for is it not? I find myself thinking of Kathryn, Harmony, RR, Blessed among others. (Guess I'd better include myself in there). And we could add HRH taking care of Harriet.
I have only finished the tasks assigned to the first hour of the day. I am thankful that I have the option to be in slow mode.
oh yeah, me too! I've had the total of a little over 16 hours sleep in the last 4 days. Neither dh nor I slept at all well last night. I'm thinking of buying a 'sleep book' and see if I can glean some more pointers. We're both so tired.
Just noticed dh's lab work from yesterday is back. But I'm wondering why there's no hemoglobin report. Hoping that shows up eventually as that's so important right now. His cardiologist prescribed for him to take 2 potassium pills EVERY morning a couple weeks ago. She wanted to see what it would do to his count. Hmmmm...it was 3.3, the lowest it's been in the last 3 tests. So, we wait for her to call. If she ups it any we definitely need a new prescription for potassium pills. Because right now he takes 1 each morning and 1 each evening, plus 1 extra the days he takes Metolazone (water pill) on Mon, Wed, Fri. He said his ankles looked fairly normal this morning at first but within 15 minutes they were right back up there.
Dh has obviously been talking with DS-A about going north in a couple of weeks. DS/family are coming down here I think around the 30th to pick up their motorhome and camp heading back north (good luck with that with the traffic on I-4 and 95 (right Harmony?). But evidently dh plans to go to their house and our DGS23 is going to stay with him until DS/family get back. The only reason he's going north then is because he has an appointment with his cardiologist up there and is afraid to postpone it. That's because they "presumably" are working on getting him into a Dr who will perform the Watchman procedure. It could be quite a wait. Meantime he's not on a blood thinner as they've finally determined that any will make him bleed. Always something to be concerned about at this stage of our lives.
DD and dsonil should be back sometime tomorrow afternoon I believe. I have to get the corned beef brisket out of the freezer before I forget so it can be thawing. I plan to make corned beef and cabbage for our dinner tomorrow. Dsonil won't eat it but dd will enjoy it.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!
