DEE! Don't cancel the appointments for dh until he actually leaves. If something comes up and he can't fly out, you'll be upset if you lost those appointments too.

Good morning!

Quieter day here.

Dh didn't sleep well last night, up for a long stretch more than once through the night. We napped between 11:45 and 1 as a result. I initiated the nap since I couldn't keep my eyes open.

We started the day well, up, I washed dh's hair in the shower (it wasn't my hair wash day), dressed, stripped the beds, started laundry, had tea & chocolate & light therapy, headed off just before 9 for dh's blood draw, took a 15 minute walk at the farm. Here's a link to what I'm talking about.

(I walk in the top left part of the first photo. I grew up a neighbourhood backing onto a bit on just beyond the top right edge of that photo and by the time I was in high school that section was fallow with walking paths I used as a short cut to school in the fall and late spring.)

It is a 5 minute drive from the blood clinic and I have free parking there along with a membership at the Agriculture museum which is on the grounds. So I can pop in to visit the animals in the barns if dh's lineup is really long.

He thought it would be quick today because just 3 people were in front of him to register, so I just walked for 15 minutes and then texted him I was done. At that point there were 3 people in front of him for a draw so it took at least another 15 minutes. We found a new place to drop-off/pickup that is a 3 minute walk and saves me more than that for driving time. So we are getting a good routine.

Unfortunately, that exhausted him so the 2x3min is all he walked this morning (today was supposed to be 9 minutes.) We'll go out soon for the afternoon walk. It is windy but above freezing (but nowhere near 8!) Still it will feel cold so I'll dress him warmly.

Since getting back I've got the beds remade with clean sheets, and the laundry for today done. I still have to dust and water plants and then I'll consider it a good day.

Ds called a few minutes ago to say TG tested positive for Covid this morning. So we were exposed to her. Dh not too much, me not to close but in the same room for 2 hours (the rest of the hours I was there I was wearing an N95 mask so they don't count.) They both tested before coming on Saturday and were both negative Saturday and yesterday. So fingers are crossed. My cough is worse today than yesterday (and I had a rough night last night but I figured that was mostly dh's rough night interrupting my sleep.) I guess I'll test but I have to wait until before bed because I've just eaten a snack and dinner will be soon.

Well.... that was a bummer... the restaurant is closed. So we came home and ordered Chinese. Dh is headed to pick it up shortly.

I am taking a break between trips to the city. Being in traffic & around so many strangers seem to exhaust me like nothing else.

DS14 has requested to go dress shirt shopping before his appt. His dress shirts are over 2 years old, and he has grown quite a bit so they are getting small on him. I am going to take him to a men's store that specializes in big & tall sizes. I would like for DS14 to try on a suit also but I'm not sure he will be open to that idea.

The fence contractor did finish the project while we were gone! This project has been in progress for almost a year. It is finally DONE! The contractor called up to say he was waiting to cash the check we gave him until we got home and approved of his work. We appreciate his desire to go beyond normal to make sure we are entirely happy with his work.

FUNNY from today. DS-A went for his fireman's physical today. His nurse was talking about going to Orlando later this week. She mentioned that they're going to the Orlando Solar Bears game Friday. So, he said, too bad I didn't know, my sister could probably have gotten you tickets. She replied that a friend was getting them tickets -the friend is a supervisor for off ice officials. "Oh, who's your friend?" "J Carol". "That IS my sister!" This family actually had a camper right across from dd for a couple of years and they became fast friends. Small world.

Kathryn, that place looks very agricultural. Is it a good piece away from you? I picture you in the midst of a busy city.

Night routines done. I do a complete pupa in the family room and especially the kitchen which is always the messiest room of the house. I give attention to that room 2 or 3 times a day to keep up on it. New routine in the morning and at night: check the calendar. I've checked several times today after my mixup this morning. Nothing on it for the rest of the week except my study and the same for next week. Well, small group Thurs eve, take strawberries for the ice cream. Everybody is bringing a topping. I hope I can find some strawberries.

This was quite the day. I was tired all day but I know it was more mental than physical.

RRose, I did know all that; know it's about the tilt of the earth. I was always amused that we can't feel that we're standing at a tilt. At least we don't fall off or float away. Good old gravity. When I read that post, I just saw the word Southern and my thoughts galloped ahead without thinking. I'll bet you are a terrific kids teacher. I am happy for the longer days. I hate when the sun goes down so early in the evening and the day feels so short. No wonder I didn't like it up north when we lived there.

This is The Week I've been telling y'all about... What. A. Week.

* Took dgrands to school this morning... brrr... it was 22 degrees.
-- Of course they don't sleep well at our house, out of their routine and everything, so when I got dgd up (from a pallet in our floor) and told her we had to wake up her brother, she pulled the blanket around her, wandered into the bedroom, and curled up in bed with him! However, they were both happy when I dropped them off. DGS was awake at midnight which probably accounts for notation below...
* Came home, put their clothes in the washer so her practice clothes would be ready this afternoon...
* Went back to bed
* Got up, put clothes in dryer, NOTHING. Dryer is DEAD. Checked switch box, etc... nothing. Called The Man.
* Talked to dmom.
* Waited for The Man.
* The Man came, worked for 90 minutes or so, decided he needed to take the dryer with him.
* DS came and got dgrands' clothes, etc.
* DS called to see if I put dgs' phone (no service, just games) in his bag; dgs can't find it; yes I did; dgs found it exactly where I said it was.
* Vacuumed floor where dryer had been sitting.
* S2S finally!
* Rushed to dgd's practice game. Watched it & dgs' practice.
-- DGD's team lost; dgs loafed around and told us later he was tired all day and felt like he was going to pass out all through practice. We think he was being overly-dramatic. He did hit the ball a couple times and made some good catches but my goodness he looked lazy out there. DGD still can't get a hit.
* Went to post office, bank, and Mexican restaurant with dh. Good supper & saw a few old friends who have recently moved back to our town.
-- I had on very little make up & my hair looks like Roseanne Rosannadanna. Went to the ballgame with it loose and quite damp, let it air dry, no 'product' in it at all. If you don't remember Roseanne, just picture it -- big & frizzy. Sigh. Dfriend of course looks exactly like she did when she graduated. They were the cutest couple ever in school. He was one of those guys my mom always said was too pretty to be a boy, and their wedding pictures looked like ads for photography studios. At least he's bald now.

Tomorrow -- teacher group at lunch; keep dgd while dgs goes to practice with ds
Wednesday -- pest man coming to treat yard for fire ants, church
Thursday -- dh & I both have haircuts; pick up dgrands at school, take dgd to practice game about 15 miles away; dh will take dgs to practice; both spend the night
Friday -- take dgrands to school, pick up dgrands, take dgd to another game (here in town) [They call it 'FUN DAY' ]; dh take dgs to practice; both spend the night
Saturday morning -- dgd another FUN DAY game; both spend the night
Sunday -- church -- ddil will be HOME!!! Hooray!!! I will still likely take dgs to piano and afternoon church classes (acolyte practice & confirmation class)
Monday -- I may never get out of bed.

I'm falling asleep on my feet right now. I have a very small load in the washer (two pair dh's khakis and a sweatshirt, my bras). I'm going to hang those up and take a nap. I know I'm ignoring everybody and I'm sorry -- it is crazy around here and dh keeps a ballgame going full blast on the computer all the time, it seems. I need to write an email, totally forgot to email church secretary about prayer list from yesterday, totally forgot to text teacher group and make one phone call to a member who doesn't get texts... and it's just Monday.

Good evening! (Almost good morning here.)

I’m mostly CUOPed on this past week. I was slammed. A big deadline on Friday, and various this and that besides. Got our new fridge on Thursday; the stove we were supposed to get was damaged. So the stove got delivered today. Meanwhile, the guy who was supposed to come give us an estimate on a new boiler at 3 showed up at 2.

Other than that, the big news here was the 5 inches of snow we got yesterday that have mostly melted away today. Hopefully tomorrow will be less frazzled, and I can get in here at a reasonable hour. Sweet dreams to everyone, and a good morning and happy autumn to Lynlee, wherever she may be.
