Re: Thursday PWYC
Homeschool is done for the day and for the week. ***Big sigh of relief**
I have the fire pit going because I want more wood ashes to put around the tender plants. The ashes seem to discourage ground crawling bugs from the plants. I transplanted some ground cover to the base of the raised bed that I'm in the process of designing/building. I like this ground cover because it is hardy and stays green all year. It softens the edges of the concrete blocks.
I am going to try a new-to-me recipe of Baked Orange Chicken. I'll cook some broccoli and rice for side dishes.

Re: Thursday PWYC
Dh and I were up and out early. Dh put out the garbage and recycling for me. I decided that the compost can wait until next week.
Then off we went to the passport office. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes and told to check the mail around the second week of April!! I guess the back log has been dealt with. Not that we have anything booked, but it's nice to get that done with. He apologized for last night when I woke up this morning and he thanked me for "all the help" after we left the passport office.
I went to knitting.
We are having penne and meat sauce for supper.

Re: Thursday PWYC
Trainer texted me earlier about moving my workout to one p.m. today and that worked for me. I'm back home and tired. I got frustrated because workout was so hard and I felt so wimpy and I just felt tearful and on the point of losing it. We stopped it and she had me stretch a bit and then did a little more. I still feel like I need a good cry right now. Everything around me is a mess and I don't want to deal with it because I'm just so tired.
Part of the trouble is that there's so much to do and I feel overwhelmed about where to start. And painters are still working on primary bedroom, laundry room and that hallway so I just feel so disorganized.
I walked dog again when I got home from workout so I have 8700 steps already. I have 52K steps for the week already with two left after today. No wonder I'm tired.
I am going to try a focused five.
-straighten up great room (move furniture into place) put away what I can
-dust top of Judaica cabinet and move menorah back up there (write myself note to discuss with dh that the base of this big menorah is loose)
-clean glass on the inside of china cabinet in DR
-put blinds on front door and DR windows back in place
-try to clear 10 items off DR table or the breakfast area table

Re: Thursday PWYC
Hello! I have a bit of a respite from work today. I’ve got the text for this chapter all edited and cleaned up. It just needs the approval of the expert, who will not be able to look at it until tonight at the very earliest, ironically because he is here in town at HQ. (He is working with a different department; thus, he won’t have time for the text, and I will not get to meet him. Pity. He’s a hoot on the phone/computer.)
Anyhow, the text is done. The only thing I needed to do today was go over the most recent drafts of the art, which all looked good to me!
I’ve been trying to firm things up for Sunday games with dfriends. We are both scheduled for Mass on Saturday evening, so we could start earlier than usual, but I have my visit with my mom. If I go earlier than usual, we could start games about noon, but that’s not much earlier than usual, and dfriend wants to finish early b/c she’s driving her daughter back to school (3-1/2 hours away) on Monday. Maybe I’ll go Saturday. Should be doable — just not my usual rhythm. Anyhow, we are planning to make a brunch casserole in our new oven!
I hope Kathryn’s Covid continues to go away and Ken gets good health news. I hope Nancy feels better and survives the onslaught of the painters. And I hope Harmony and her DH’s joints feel better!
Next, I am going to continue on my perpetual ascent of Mt. Washmore. Nothing to do out of the house until this evening, when I pick DC up after their campus radio show. DH is out with the guys tonight, so the kids and I will stop on the way home for some Thai food and bubble tea. Then my ball club will have Opening Day out Nancy’s way, so I will tuck myself in bed and listen to the game till I fall asleep. Have a good one, everyone!

Mystery - Thanks for the CI. I have been missing your posts.
The new recipe is a keeper. I follow the recipe exactly but will be tweaking it a bit the next time I make it. The sauce is so good that I'm tempted to drink it.
I was making an appt for DS14 to take IRL drivers test. All state testing places nearby are scheduled solid for the next 60 days and don't accept appointments for more than 60 days. I decided to make a 4-hour drive to a state testing site when I saw they had an appt available at the end of May. I paused to confirm with DS14 that it would be a good day/time, however in that 30 seconds the appt was gone before I could claim it. aRgh!

Meat sauce is simmering. I put onions and red peppers in with the meat.

Yum, Cathy. We were talking about going out to eat but I suspect we'll need to wait around until the painting is finished.
Doing five focused things helped me feel less crazy. The trouble is, now I'm waiting to refill the DR tall breakfront and the two book cases because none are centered on their walls and I need help to move. On the black Ikea bookcases, We have the top shelf out so there's a display area for menorahs etc. and I'm going to poll dh and maybe dfriend M to ask if they think I should fill the back with linen or a peel and stick wall cover. It's kind of like a black hole there sucking up light right now.
I need help rehanging art and pictures. Dh will have to help with that.
Going to try for five more focused things.
-clear 10 pieces of paper off the kitchen counter where I'm sitting. Some are waiting for scanning and the printer/scanner should be available now.
-dust furniture and move 10 or more items back into our bedroom
-make the bed (it's been pulled up but wasn't made when they started this a.m.)
-water plants
-work at clearing kitchen counters in general
We have a mezuzah that we inherited from dh's aunt when she died in 2020. She had asked what we would like of her Judaica and art. I just googled it, and it's from 1980 and worth about $700. I had no idea.

DD11 is home from school. She sat and twirled while talking non-stop for 25 minutes. #TreasuredMoments
I'm working on April menu plan. I am considering using Darcie Dishes meal plan. It also includes the shopping list. I would love all those meals, but the family wouldn't think highly of them. hum.....

Re: Thursday PWYC
Dinner is in the oven. Again.
I'm making up the leftover Costco chicken casserole. Easy enough to make but the baking instructions are 20 minutes covered, 10 - 15 uncovered. It looked so undone when I uncovered it, I decided to go for the 15 minutes. When I pulled it out of the counter top oven, the oven didn't feel hot. The dish is too hot touch with bare hands but a thermometer indicated the oven was only at 100. It takes 15 minutes to heat up the main oven but in the meantime, I have the counter top oven cooking it, set to 400 instead of 375 in the hopes that it will cook. I'll cut the cooking time to 25 minutes in total but I'm still very unhappy since I'm starving.
I gave up on waiting with my mask on and have gone to the bedroom so I can drink something and eat my salad now.
