Yea got us to page #2 LOL!

I got the mower fluid levels checked it started and I mowed the high spots out front.
Cleaned up a pile of weeds I did last week that was by the driveway.

Had lunch, got food out for dinner that I'd made ahead and it is thawing now.

I went to that estate sale after crowds thinned out I did not buy anything.
Saw a neighbor on the way there.

Got my steps in by 10:30 today.
-----
Dumped out the sod I dug out the other day and got it in place for fill. YEA!
Got the patio area spiffed up.
Dot a teapot at the sale when I walked the dog had change with me oh yea it was metal well loved but will be a great prop.
Got a video of my time out chair outside and the tea pot is in it.
Resolved a tech issue.
I mopped.
Did up the dishes after dinner all two of them!
Got my 10,413 steps in!

Finally made it here…

Did my class, came home did morning routines, watered my sunnies, cleaned up make up and all, got dressed and then made my skinny muffin to take with me to the coffee gathering.

Did not eat a donut!!! After the meeting went to three different stores, two looking for specific colored t-shirts and the dollar store for birthday paper and ribbons. Bought two coloring books for my grand kids Easter Baskets. I don’t to candy but did add a package of animal crackers to each basket.

The other grandmother goes over board on every holiday event. I don’t even try to compete. My sons house is so crammed with stuff which drives him crazy so I try very hard not to add to it. Plus my grands have 4 sets of grandparents and on set of great grandparents. My ddil was spoiled rotten growing up and my sons home is so filled with stuff the kids have no idea what they have. My ddil is part of this new Free Range parenting which aspires to talking to your kids with no consequence concerning their behavior.

I keep my mouth shut, but feel sorry for their future teachers

Tomorrow is Sat and I’m looking forwards to not having to set my alarm clock to get up. That means I can stay up later tonight :D

My dish washer hasn’t worked in a while. Most likely I need a new one, but I haven’t been in the mood to look for one.

I have a farmers sink which I hate. It’s big and deep and a bear to keep clean. Since I don’t have a double sink, I fill a large tub which fits in my sink and fill it with hot water with soap. As I cook, I put everything in it after I finish using it. Then while my dinner cooks…usually in 20 minutes or so… I wash what’s in the tub, rinse it and put it in my dish drainer which sits next to the sink.

Then I empty my tub, fill it again with hot water and soap. If I have time I put away what’s in the drainer. If not I load my dinner dishes to soak and then put the stuff in the drainer away. By then the dishes are ready to wash. I wash them and put them in the drainer. Then I grab a towel and quickly dry and put them away.

When I was younger I let my dishes sit over night in the soapy water. I hated dealing with them in the morning.

I have discovered with an open area concept…I feel included in what’s going on in the living room. I can see the tv as well. My point is I don’t feel so isolated while I work and I don’t begrudge being felt to do kitchen work while others get to relax

Cathy… maybe you could ask your husband to keep you company while you work and then doing the dishes all the time wouldn’t feel so much like a chore

First family fishing fun event is in the treasured memories. We didn't catch any fish but there were countless successes. DD11 learned how to cast, tie her lure on, and put her own bobber on. She also learned how to watch for places at the edge of the water that will entangle the hook. We ate lunch sitting next to the water and watching the fish flop. DD11 and I walked along the riverbank trying to get closer to a turtle, but it was quick to dive under the water and get away. It was a simple event, and every moment was enjoyed.

The wind is NOT fun today. It is blowing 30mph with 45mph gusts. I went to the garden just in time to see the bigger rabbit hutch was about to tip over. DH helped me move that rabbit hutch next to a rock wall in hopes that it will block enough of the wind to keep it on the ground.

Thank you for all the suggestions regarding getting the dishes done!

I'm usually tired after supper and we go in and watch the news. I prefer to just get the table cleared as quickly as possible so the cats aren't up there eating anything that might be available, including the butter. I always clear the table before the cats even get fed these days.

I no longer want any help from dh in the kitchen. The last time he did the dishes I was reminded that he never uses enough soap. Everything was greasy. No thanks.

I have been inspired lately while watching Jacques Pepin and Julia Child and other cooks on TV. They make a huge mess, a great meal and yet the kitchen is cleared up as they cook.

Been trying to get here for at least a short post. I've had too many interruptions today. I never got to sleep last night until 6:30 this morning so I'm dragging. I'm working hard to get everything done for dh. Had to stop once to go to the pharmacy for a new prescription. Had picked up one yesterday but somehow the script for his Potassium never got sent. I've spent a lot of time adding potassium to his pill boxes (4 weeks), taking out Iron pills, adding the missing Omeprazole, taking out all the Eplerenone and cutting them in half and putting just half pills back in. It's taken quite a while but at least they're ready.

I was just getting going this morning and dh finally (after looking for nearly a week) got emails regarding his employment at the campground this summer. So I spent at least almost 2 hours trying to get all that straightened out while on the phone with the camp managers. I think I finally got it done. He did call our friendly manager once to ask about his rate of pay as the former owner who still runs things had told him he put in for another raise for him. But the papers we had to sign said his pay was $2/hour less than last year. He finally told dear camp manager to not worry about it as at his age he's just happy to be working. It may be a moot point anyway if he doesn't get permission to go back to work. He'll mostly be doing paperwork and consulting. So we'll see.

Dh flies out tomorrow much to my chagrin. Our DGS23 will be picking him up and staying with him until DS-A/family get back there later in the week. Our stepDGD23 plans to cook for him, and with as little as he eats that shouldn't be a problem.

DD and Dsonil took dh to the hockey game at Tampa last night. He really was not in shape to go but they all managed.

Okay, need to get back to work.

Got one suitcase all packed. Have 2 loads of laundry done, folded and put away or packed. Now have to pack the 2nd smaller suitcase & hope I can fit everything in it. Then have to ask dd if she has a backpack dh can use for a carry-on with some items I want to be sure he has upon arrival. Believe me, I'm very much in a negative attitude about him going north at all. It's 7:30 and he's already in bed as he's so tired and unsteady. Find myself crying at the drop of a hat -I'm so concerned about him. DD will take him to the airport tomorrow and make sure he has everything set up. I got his boarding pass printed off a while ago. Now I have to do sheets for him to take to the cardiologist and his Primary care doctors this week. Now to figure out how/when/with whom/etc for me to go north.

Off to do more computer work.

Put away another load of laundry. Washer is currently washing the last load for the day.

Most dishes have been done and the dishwasher is waiting for me to turn it on.

I also tossed a bag of composting out in the outside composting bin.

I also watered the plants on the right rack. They get watered every week. The other rack only gets watered every 2 weeks.

Cat litter needs to get changed. I bought a new bag of litter today so I can do this job. (Later... all 3 litter boxes have been cleaned and refilled.)

Just got out of another softball game.
Still coughing and feeling pretty miserable, but some better than yesterday, I think.

Haven’t had any time to cuop or anything — spent most of this day looking for a light fixture for dh’s side of the bed. It has been frustrating.
Tomorrow is another day.

Wow, Dee, that sounds like so much work and concentration organizing everything. I will be praying for his safety.

Today was our study. There are only 2 more to go then the end meeting which is just a whole group brunch. I always miss it when I don't have that to go to.

Was nervous about leaving DH here by himself. Told him not to do anything stupid when I was gone, to call if he needed anything. I made him oatmeal and got his ice pack before I left. Left a dish full of leftovers in the refrigerator which he could put in the microwave for lunch, figured that would be the easiest. He said it was. I grabbed some groceries on the way home.

Ran into a church friend who lost her husband during the first year of Covid. We hadn't heard of his passing in time to go to the funeral. We would have done that, we worked with this couple for a long time in our kids church program. She wanted to chat about all that had happened. Turns out during Covid her DH couldn't get doctors appointments or lab tests and time went by and by the time he got help, he was just over the age limit to have the work done he needed so he ended up dying. Very sad.

Twins, thanks for sharing that about Passover. We've been studying the holy days and feasts as part of our study. Interesting that they consider horseradish a bitter herb. I wouldn't have called it bitter.

End of the month. Getting warmer here.

I wash dishes a couple times a day. Anything in the drainer gets put away every morning and after dinner. I've been hand washing some stuff and putting the rest in the dishwasher. There are things I would run out of if I put them in the dishwasher because we don't have enough in there to run except every few days. I tend to look at my clean sink and counter a few times after it's all tidy and I think that's motivating to me. Cathy, you sound like you do ok. Some people leave their dishes pile up for days.

Cathy:

Like LadyM I put hot sudsy water in the sink when I arrive to do something and then I can wash as I go. I do have a double sink, though, so that makes that routine possible. Otherwise, I'd have to fill a dish pan and leave it on the counter and I'm unlikely to do that.

Like Harriet, I have a patterned dish cloth that I like. I actually bought a set of 8, four black for the counter, four red for dishes.

Dh and I have a new routine and run the dishwasher on rinse hold after dinner at night and wash the next evening after dinner. That way stuff doesn't get too dried on. Mine is a very old dishwasher, likely pushing 2 decades at this point, so it doesn't work well but I have to wait for it to fail before it will be replaced and the new ones apparently are awful so I'm not in any hurry. The dishwasher isn't full after 2 days but it overfull after 3, so 2 days it is.

My morning routine is to empty the dish drainer of hand washed items while my tea steeps. I can often get almost all the dishwasher emptied at the same time.

++++++++

This sat here for half the day.

Dd and dgd4 came over for a visit, went out during our nap time to do errands and came back for a quick visit which got extended because I said I'd drive them home. During rush hour. During a snow storm. (The train had been stopped for a while this afternoon and I wasn't sure if it would run fully and didn't want them caught on it.)

Dh came with us and after we picked up Chinese Food for him. It took forever to get home and a long route through the centre of Ottawa. That's what you get when your chinese food place is on the other side of town. And it is rush hour.

Anyway, we had dinner together for the first time in 10 days and then watched a movie.

Dh did up the hand dishes and I started the dishwasher.

It is past my bedtime now because I don't get a nap tomorrow. That's another day with the grands, taking them to lunch (apparently dd wants us to eat in the car) and then to the Farm.

Dh thought he was having a good day but then felt car sick on the ride home. The roads are really rough and you can't see a thing from the back seat so I moved him to the front seat, but even so, he was pretty slow moving and disappointed in himself when he got home. He felt so fine in the apartment, he had no idea the drive would set him back. He actually didn't get his second walk in because of that excursion which involved sitting in the car.
