Re: Thursday PWYC
Good morning!
DH was out the door before 6am this morning to take his DSis to have surgery (skin cancer on face). Most of the time the dermatologist can remove skin cancers in the office but when it is extensive then they do it in surgery center. After the dermatologist does his part and gets clear margins then the plastic surgeon will finish the surgery. It is expected for DH & DSisIL to come home late tonight. They will have a long day. There is a 2.5-hour drive, then checkin & surgery followed by a 2.5-hour drive back home.
I feel out of sorts with DH being gone even for a day. We both do better when we are together.
DD11 has decided she is ready to cut off her long hair and has a short sassy hair style selected. She also mentioned a desire to color her hair. Hair is not a battle I pick. If DD11 wants to try blue hair, then I'm okay with that. I'm texting with the stylist about setting up a time to make it happen.

Re: Thursday PWYC
We weren't up way late last night and I was not miserable from overeating or from the "four glasses" of wine. It was a very nice evening with friends and we were home pretty early I stayed up until 10:30 ish unwinding but had a very runny nose and nasal congestion.
DD and I have been hanging out and talking this a.m. - we are loving having her here.
Today I only have a workout at two and dh and I are going out to eat tonight while dd sees friends. I am going to braise the brisket today also so it will be done for dinner tomorrow. I sent dcousin a message asking about having lunch with me and dd on Friday - that will cut into my prep time for Shabbat dinner tomorrow night, but would be great for dd and dcousin.

Re: Thursday PWYC
I am using today to cook some things that I love but isn't something DH enjoys eating. I have my biggest pot about 3/4 full of two kinds of lentils and various vegetables to add flavor. I will also cook several packages of liver with onions. Both of these dishes will be packaged into individual portions in mason jars and frozen. I love being able to eat these favorite dishes several times a week with no effort.
I've harvested the purple asparagus this morning. It is growing so fast! I learned that I prefer the asparagus to be super tender so I harvest when they are much shorter than asparagus that I see for sale. Each day I eat some and freeze some to eat the rest of the year.
Homeschool continues
--------------later
Homeschool is done.
Cooking continues. I'm cooking several smoked sausages to have on hand. Everyone in the family likes them.
I've asked DS14 to help me with the yard. The grass is growing so fast that I'm getting behind on the two parts of the yard that I take care of. DS14 instantly agreed to help and started telling me how he could do it differently. I don't care what he uses to mow it with, it just needs to be done.
In between doing other things I finished my daily Sudoku puzzle.

Achoo! Waving to everyone with a tissue in my hand. Dh is feeling better, I'm hoping to feel the same way soon, but today is not the day. I feel as though I'm walking in a pool of water up to my neck when I move around the house. No energy at all. Wrote down a "5 Things to Do Tomorrow" (thanks for this great idea, Pam & Peggy) list last night, & hope I feel better after a nap later today so that I can get some things done. A positive is that I'm caught up here in pwyc
.
Dee, I'm glad Dr said Mr Dee can have the Watchman procedure done.
Kathryn, glad that Ken is improving!
Lady M, so sorry you had to wait 7 hours at car repair place to get a diagnosis on the A/C.
Twins, how wonderful that dd is visiting.
So happy to see Blessed pop in
. Hope you & your dh are doing well.
Harriet, I enjoy reading about your flowers & gardening adventures.
Lunch soon. I'm only a little hungry so may just mix up some egg salad. Definitely taking a nap after lunch, & I won't set an alarm so my body can get however much rest it needs.

Yum! Fresh asparagus LadyM!
I have brisket in the oven so that's done. I'm setting an alarm to remind me to leave for workout. The dishwasher is running but I need to finish kitchen counter clean up.
Tomorrow dd and I will have lunch with dcousin, her dd and dd's dh. I'll also make challah (not Passover food obviously), a side veggie, salad, and fruit for dessert.
I'll leave to go work out soon, must also stop at the drugstore.

CI bs was in ack land today so I cut my lunch sandwich in half of one of the rolls I had last night. It was still yummy and I have a plan for dinner too now! I have been out to do errands this morning. Got Rx refills, remembered to get my mop, and food, plus one more errand.
Glad I did that early it was not to bad over town at nin a m glad I did not have to wait on anyone and could just leave when I was ready!
Glad that is done got paint so I can finish that table when I start on it.
Ddog is outside would luv a walk but it is still cold outside to me.
Not sure what is up for me but I am taking a lunch break.
My dsis & I were comparing notes on how nice it is to live alone and not have to hear someone else snoring!
I pulled a few weeds.
Put away the food.
-----
Took a rest break then swept and mopped the kitchen dining room and hallway. Yea one less thing to do glad to be able to check it of!

Re: Thursday PWYC
Dh needed something from Costco, so I had to go there. Got some chicken for tomorrow night. I already had tonight's supper planned and meat is defrosted. (Shepherd's pie) Then I went to another grocery store and got a ham and a few other things. I needed salt, even though I use very little, I had totally run out. Both stores had very full parking lots and very few carts. Drove past a third grocery store on the way home and there was a line up to get into the parking lot.
So, 3 meals preplanned, which for me is almost unheard of.
We watched the Canadian curling team beat the American team last night and the German team this morning. Tonight they play Scotland.
It's sunny with clouds and windy here. It's also more than 10 degrees. Lots of the spring bulbs are flowering in the front gardens.

I had a serving of lentils topped with sriracha sauce for lunch. My taste buds are happy.
DH & DSisIL are already on their way home! DSisIL surgery was a success, and she will not need any radiation. I am relieved and thankful.
Cathy - there you are! When you didn't post anything this morning I was wondering if you and DH were having an outing.
I have planted some creeping thyme in a earthbox. I want to contain it while seeing how it grows. The creeping rosemary I planted last year grew much bigger than I expected. It was more like exploding rosemary instead of creeping.
>>>later....
I wonder if Kathryn & Ken are without electricity.
I used a 2lb bag of tri-color coleslaw as the main ingredient to make a big batch of egg roll in a bowl. It is one of my favorite dishes. I will freeze it in individual portions.
DS14 has been busy mowing and weedeating multiple sections of the yard. His drive to do his best, confidence and skills are continually improving.

Re: Thursday PWYC
Hello. I just came back inside from watering all the plants. I don't have any idea what DH has done with another one of the hoses. The one from the backyard is still missing - or worn out and no longer here - now the one at the side of the garages is missing, gone who knows where. I am not broaching that subject again. We've already had a couple discussions about the hoses around here. I have to fill up the watering can a couple times and take it to the far planter and the bushes between 2 garages. I have a big plant in there also blooming right now, bright red and paler stripes, very showy (don't remember the name, some sort of amaryllis lily that DFriend gave me a couple bulbs for). I want that to stay watered. Everything else I can reach with the hose I have, though nothing across the back. I guess I can add the hose situation to the number of broken / needs fixed things around here.
Harriet, DH usually recovers from bruises ok. I have not inspected that area recently
but he isn't having any trouble sitting.
However, his knee doesn't appear to be getting any better or if it is it's mighty slow. Today he's down trying to get his big truck going. Putting the radiator in. But I just called because it is so late and pretty dark and he's still gone...and he reports he's at auto parts store trying to get a water pump because that sprang a leak too. He reports his electrician friend who got him involved with this person in the first place is down there helping him. He's the boyfriend of the property owner. Maybe she told him to help get that truck out of her driveway. Wouldn't surprise me.
Where he's working is a very upscale area of big houses, much sought after, but I wouldn't live there if you GAVE me one of those houses. They're all on canals, all in flood zone, and big houses with smallish lots and no space for an extra car or much of anything. I'm claustrophobic just riding up and down those streets...which are always full of traffic. Blek! I would have gone down when it started to get later to see if I could help, but there is nowhere for me to put an extra car. One can't pull off in the grass because everyone has sprinkler systems and heads that would break if run over.
So, I went out shopping, and the stores were mobbed. I felt like I was struggling for space in amongst the big delivery carts, the motorized chairs, and old people leaving their carts all over the place. The workers with the delivery carts were not yielding their space to anyone. I suppose they were super busy today also.
Going up to the 2nd store to get milk, I was on a busy street waiting to get to a light and oh my. Poor little half-grown bunny had hopped out into the street and when the light changed almost got hit...didn't know what to do or where to do when a car bumped him with their tire (not hard) and it turned around and got back into the grassy lot. Phew! I don't think the car even knew it was down there, poor little thing. I hope it remained safe.
Not much else to report, I felt tired today, just glad the shopping is done. Have a good night. And by the way, I tried to fix the color thing on Harriet's name 3 times and it keeps coming up double like that.
