I'm imitating a duck today.
Calming gliding across the lake while paddling like crazy beneath the surface.

Today's PODA -
9:45 Small groups
10:45 Worship service
Noon - lunch. I have hamburger meat laid out to thaw. I'm thinking that I will keep it simple and make cheeseburgers.
2pm - Leave for the refuge. We are gathering 4 generations at the home my grandfather built to walk the grounds and share memories. The oldest living person on my dad's side of the family will be there. He has a great memory and loves sharing his stories.
5:30pm - set up for celebration of our senior pastor 70th birthday and his 40th year serving at our church.
7:00pm - board meeting for DH. I will be cleaning up after the celebration.

Up at 6 today. Bs was great.
Finishing up on some laundry from yesterday.
Got that folded and put away.
Glad to be not as still as I thought I might be yea!
Inside stuff swept kit after tracking in stuff from Sat yd work adventures.
Washing dog's bedding now from the pet carriers clean out.
I can see a difference in the yard that is good.

Rain and wind later today.
No frost last nite 45* this morning.
I want to get more pruning done on the one rose bush I started on yesterday quite a bit more dead stuff to take off of it.
Then I can get to the earth for planting prep.
Happy with the progress now.
I am half dressed this morning.

We had a lovely time at the river last night - they built this beautiful little house with a deck above the river - beautiful place to sit out and enjoy the evening. Much more privacy that our friends who own the condo where the deck adjoins so many others.

Drat. Just realized we'll have overnight guests next weekend. Need to get guest bedroom ready this week.

Dh is home (he went out to bowling alley this a.m. to take a ball somewhere?) and it's time to review and file tax return. UGH

hi - I am so sorry I haven't been here.
I hope you all have been well - especially all the dear husbands who have struggled.

Dh had his angiogram on Friday, the last test I have been waiting for, before coming back.
The news wasn't good. He has 100% blockage in all his arteries. They couldn't put stints in.

Next step, if dh decides to do it, will be to see a surgeon to see if he is a candidate for by pass surgery. Right now he said he wants to forget it as he feels it won't lead to a quality of life he wants to have. He feels that it will be an unending complication that won't lead to anything. He is willing to meet the surgeon; but with his trac and peg tube still in place, he feels he won't pass.
He is tired of going back to baby steps. HIs grandfather died at 67 (which he is) from a heart attack and his mother and uncle had heart surgery in their early 70's.

Dh and I have decided to continue on with life and not feel as if we are on a continuous hold. My main concern is his happiness and our dd's being able to take all of this in. He has never had problems with being out of breath. His oxygen is at 98% so it's hard to understand.

This week dh and I are going to the the garden center to order our bricks. Continuing on the process to be happy and have beauty around him.

Hi!

It's absolutely gorgeous out. Dh and I have been to Walmart and back. He needed garden shears. He also got some seeds for green and yellow beans. I got some yogurt.

We have all the patio furniture out, which wasn't hard as the large table and 3 chairs have been out all winter under what dh calls a parapet. To me it is the covered part of our huge patio. We moved the 2 benches and their smaller tables. For whatever reason dh says he isn't hooking up 4 of the rain barrels this year.

We are having salmon with a lemon dill sauce for supper. It was still too frozen last night.

I have a bunch of stuff to do, like kitty litter boxes and emptying the dishwasher and refilling it. Sweeping and mopping the floors. Make the bed.

blessed, thank you so much for coming in to give us an update. I have so many feelings of general and specific hugs for you and your dds and your dh. Several doctors have had proven improvement for patient groups with similar situations; Caldwell Esselstyn and Dean Ornish come to mind. There are programs in most cities by now for Ornish's work. We've mentioned you here so often over the past several months. As I work in my garden beds, I think of you and hope you have some time in the out of doors to enjoy.

I'm getting ready to go out with dd24.

Yesterday I took the "tour" of dstepson's raised bed structure, so neat.

Sat a long time with dstepdil as she processes the terrible injuries her sister has suffered after being hit head-on by a car that crossed median.

I wrote this last evening to lucylee:
lucylee, yes Felix is calm for a ferret and happy to cuddle. But "calm for a ferret" means he can be convinced to stop and be petted for a few minutes in between mad dashes. He has a similarly aging companion named Leo, a white ferret who originally came from a known breeder and may be healthier. He, however, had never been taught not to bite so needed training to be Felix's friend. Dd did that fast by "scruffing" him (picking up by back of neck) like his mother would and showing him her own teeth. With a companion, ferrets have greater well-being, so this vet intervention likely gives Leo a lease on life, too.

They often need a problem-solving fosterer like dd if something goes wrong in life. Dd doesn't think ferrets are good pets for everyone, because they are not as historically domesticated as other potential pets and they also don't live as long. And they need cages, so you don't feel they're living up to their activity potential unless you spend time with them - they thrive on play. They do come when you call unless they don't think play time was long enough, and then they tease you and hide, trying to win you over with cuteness. Dd arranges dryer venting hoses for scurrying through and other obstacle course items and has enjoyment making short phone videos of their nutty acrobatics. After play time, they collapse together in a hammock and sleep on and on. Ferrets sleep much longer than most mammal pets, so that can be a plus. She has promised fiancée no more taking in needy pets after they marry, but it's been okay while she's single.

Harriet …. I love ferrets, they make me laugh. When my son and his best friend, now business partners, were in high school, they decided to go in together and buy a ferret. They named him Fifle. They were suppose to share time with him, but Fifle ended up living at our house.

I loved to play with him and my son did the same thing with dry vents. He loved to run up my pant leg and that made me giggle. My son took him to collage, but like you said they don’t have a long life. It was a sad day when my son had to take Fifle to the vets because it was time to say good bye.

I worked in my yard this morning and finished up my laundry. The weather is very nice right now and I enjoyed my time outside.

Just finished my lunch and have a load of towels to fold. House is in good shape at the moment. May sit outside and read for a while

Whew. Tax return done and filed and accepted. It's nice to not have that hanging over me.

Started list for the week. It's a quiet week thankfully and I'm feeling lazy today. I worked on tax return basically all day yesterday.

So good to get an update from you, blessed! I’m sorry your news isn’t better, but I think you have a wonderful perspective on all this and I know you are an inspiration to your dh and your dds. You are a big inspiration to me!!!

Thanks for the info on the ferrets, Harriet. I don’t think I’d be a good candidate for ferret ownership, LOL!

Remember the snafu about the cemetery? Apparently dbil is still in the cemetery business — a first-cousin’s wife passed away out of state and family contacted dbil to arrange for burial here in family cemetery. He told DH about it this morning at church.
