Wander or Work Wednesday?

Post by Kathryn-in-Canada »

So, will you manage to work your plans to day and stay on task or will you wander away from the plan?

Sadly, I haven't started yet but dd has assured I'll wander away from my plan by filling in 6 hours of the day, prime hours I might add, for me.

I've got less than 90 minutes until the dh's zoom call with physio. Already we have had words cuz he asked what questions I had and I specifically asked one thing and he reworded it to ask something completely different. (The question was: is there another set of stretches to do each day that are different from the post op ones since he is 7 weeks past the operation and doing 3 shoulder blade stretches a day doesn't seem to be a significant way to increase flexibility. I understand it was important to recover the lung/chest/arm movement after being bed-ridden after an operation, but now I feel there should be a 'next' step group of stretches. We knock the 8 off in under 5 minutes and almost all of them could be combined into daily stretches to do while waiting for the microwave to count down 30 seconds, or the elevator, or a pot to boil on stove.

On the plus side, yesterday he had tendons in his foot, today, as I predicted, he didn't. I predicted it because he had grilled cheese with bacon and grilled onions sandwiches with a side of microwave EXTRA butter popcorn for his dinner. I told him last night this would prove if sodium was causing the morning puffiness or not. It is. Now to determine if morning puffiness is a sign of something being 'damaged' by the sodium or just too much sodium and not something to worry about. (Cuz he won't cut out sodium, that's for sure!)

Dh is also skipping his 30 minute afternoon walk most days because he's just too busy to get it in. In theory he shouldn't be back at work (I let him go back because he was so mentally miserable) and so I need the physio to tell him it is OK for him to be back at work but NOT if it interferes with his recovery exercises.

Then dd arrives right after the call.

I'll try and work a walk into the day with her leaving. My Flylady feather duster has given up the ghost after about 20 years and there's one in stock within a reasonable walk (at least for me.) I'll also try and get dinner started so it is ready for us to eat at 4:45. I have a 5:30 meeting. So I have to come up with a low sodium meal that can be easily ready that early in the day.

On Monday when we ate at 4:20, we both were exhausted after because mentally that meant we had moved into the evening, even though it was just 5 p.m. and we still had to 80 minutes of driving and my doctor's appointment before the day's plans were done. I suspect the same this evening.

Yet, somehow I have to get residents' stuff done and the taxes finished after the phone call. There are 3 hours between the end of the call and starting to wind down for bed, but I doubt they'll be productive. I just realized that's likely because my meds fade at that time of day, yet if I take them later, I'll not be able to sleep.

Hi!

Today I have a lot of WORK to do, while I wander around town. Two different banks to go to, a variety store to stop at for "garbage tags" that we attach around the "neck" of the bag so show that we are paying $2.50 per extra bag so the garbage truck has to take our regular 2 bags plus the ones that are tagged. I decided it's faster and cheaper to just buy tags than it is to go to the landfill every second week and pay the minimum fee of $7. It's okay if I'm going to drop off tires, but a bit of a waste of time, gas and energy to drive over there.

I also need wet and dry cat food and kitty litter, so that's another stop. Dh needs oranges and grapes, which are on sale at a different store in the town just west of us. Plus we forgot something at Costco, but I can pick that up tomorrow before or after knitting.

I have put away last night's laundry. I have swept and washed most floors other than kitchen. I still need to unload dishwasher.

Supper tonight will be last night's left over chicken warmed up in some chicken gravy. Mashed potatoes to go with that, plus a green vegetable that I haven't decided on yet.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Do any of you wash your pillows?
I keep forgetting to answer this question. Sorry for the delay!
Yes, I wash my pillows. I try to do it when there is bright sunshine and a breeze so the pillows can be outside to finish the drying process.

It is raining nonstop including lightning/thunder.
DD11 has been delivered to school with a big trash bag covering her tri-fold presentation board to keep it dry.
I have been reading online forums (FB, reddit, IG) which make time disappear without me noticing.
I haven't set up today's schedule yet.
I need to have a restart to my day.

Morning.

Class done, same with my routines. I’m going to wander for a bit after I finish here. I need to find a by a few long sleeved tops if possible. The weather in Aiken, SC next week will fluctuate from 55-75 degrees. Everything I own is either for cold or hot weather with nothing in between.

I've successfully restarted my day.
** Today's hourly plan is set up.
** I've made improvements to the first 2 rooms. This included taking everything off a 3 shelf bookcase, moving it, flipping it upside down to be able to thoroughly clean every surface. Then making decisions about what items to keep and what to let go. The bookcase looks good & has a new use after being relocated
** Exercises assigned to the hours have been done.

next up - make smoothie. This includes weighing ingredients for the next 7 days. It doesn't take that long to make 7 jars of ingredients when done in assembly line format. I like it when I can just grab a jar of dry ingredients and quickly make a smoothie.

Ugh, it's fifty degrees here this a.m. and raining. We have rain, off and on, the rest of the week. I just walked the dog - she hadn't been out at all this morning so walked in light rain as I knew she needed to do "business."

Nothing to do out of the house today. I'll grill chicken for dinner, butternut squash and salad with it. Heading upstairs for genealogy fun...

RRose, here is how I manage our weather here. I have a couple favorite long sleeve shirts to wear. But mostly I wear the same clothes, tops with short sleeves. And I have a collection of different colored cardigan sweaters that I really like. Those can come off if the day warms up. This keeps me from having to store a lot of wintery clothes. I do have a couple tops with 3/4 length sleeves that I don't wear if it is really warm, but work nicely for those in-between weather days. For inside the house when it is cool I have a couple fleece slacks and tops. I remember those days up north of having 2 separate wardrobes, winter and spring-summer. Glad I don't have to do that here.

Was nice to get up to a clean house. I need to do bedroom and bathroom floors and whole house will be done. I need to dust also.

Now I am getting my spreadsheets caught up.

Another pillow question: LadyM, when you wash your pillows, do they come out lumpy? What kind are they? I can usually work out the lumps in mine, but they're never 100% smooth after they've been washed. I took one apart once when I couldn't straighten it and it was interesting to see how it was made. That one was some sort of fiber wrapped in a covering of some sort of batting. I looked at some 100% washable ones one time and felt them. They were filled with some sort of foam "balls" which felt lumpy to me even when new.

Ok, back to work here.
