I had trouble getting to sleep last night, probably because I napped with the dog too long yesterday. It was past 1 am I think before I slept. But had to be up this a.m. - we had one of the guys from the kitchen work here early to look at a couple of issues.

Then I have body work at 11:30 and workout at two. Dh is bowling again tonight. I took a meat loaf out of the freezer yesterday and we decided to go out to eat (Eggplant parm special on Monday at our favorite restaurant!) So I'll bake the meat loaf and have it to eat on.

Dh leaves in the a.m. for a three day trip, to be home Friday afternoon. So I have three quiet days coming up. Yesterday I edited the case study and I'm going to submit it for possible publication. I just printed a paper copy to proof before emailing it. I'll wait a day or two before proofing that last time.

Auuuuugh! Never posted this a.m. I am eating a bite then heading to my workout.

Blessed: I hope you have an informative visit with the heart doctor.

Helia! It is wonderful to see you here! I'm sorry you've had a bad year. Life changes and challenges like that are very difficult to work through.

Dh had another zoom appointment with the surgeon this morning at 9:45 so, once I got moving, I vacuumed until then and switched to dusting so I could hear when the call started. I finished the dusting and tidying and was getting hungry so had my breakfast 'early' (I usually have it at 11:30, not 10:45) and while eating that dh called the office and said he had to close the zoom window because he had waited well over an hour and had a meeting coming up (also on zoom) so had to give up waiting on the doc.

The doc is always late and this isn't the first no-show. It is frustrating. At least I told dh to do his workout before the appointment (he was going to wait until after but I pointed out he had time). And at least I had kept going all that time.

My Ta-Dahs:

* wrote a newsletter and printed it off
* load of laundry through washer and hung to dry
* did some email clean up (which means I only have like 2300 messages to process instead of 2500.)
* vacuumed all but the office
* dusted all but the office
* did a lot of tidying and put out a new centrepiece for the dining table.

I still have all the weekly kitchen chores to do and a lot of other work to do. But I thought I better cuop here first as a way to break up playing solitaire which was what I just found myself doing.

I can add to the ta-dah's:

* damp mop bathrooms
* damp mop kitchen
* dusted and vacuumed office (dh is doing the dusting for me now since it is easier for him to move the things around on his desk

* dh removed the beater bar from the broken vacuum attachment. The straight suction 'floor' one seemed to be scraping the wood floors. I switched to that one due to the hair getting wound on the beater bars of the old, now broken attachment, as well as the new one. With both dh and I having long hair, it only takes one vacuum of the bedroom to start winding impressively around the beater brush.

To protect the floors, I put the broken attachment back on, figuring it would just be suction around the non-moving bar. Instead everything gathered into the head stuck to the bristles and I removed a mouse sized clump this morning, leaving a smaller mouse-sized amount still in the head, needing removal. So I had dh take the bar out and despite all the open space, it seems to be sucking up the stuff on the floor (that's why I stopped in the middle of mopping the kitchen floor to vacuum the office.) I may close off part of the opening to improve suction at a later date, we'll see.

Now I guess I'll go deliver the newsletters I printed off. That will get me out of the apartment and into fresh air when I walk across to the other building.

Forgot to say that the doctor called while I was mopping. There really was no point to this appointment (nothing has changed and won't until after May 12th's cardioversion) so I just listened to dh's side of the conversation.

Kinda unusual for 3 of the DH to have an appointment with heart doctors on same day. I am watching for Dee and Blessed CI.

It is starting to feel like summer outside now. I'm enjoying the sunshine and warmer temperatures.

Good afternoon!

Helia! How wonderful it is to see that green type! You have had quite the year. I’m sorry for your loss. I’m glad, though, that you feel stronger for having gone through everything. And congratulations to your son!

I am not thoroughly CUOPed, but I believe I missed Rose’s birthday. I hope it was a good one.

I found out this morning that my work load will be eased up over the next few days. The expert called to double-check where we stand with things. He hasn’t had a chance to start on the next unit yet, so I will just have to tidy things up with the artist for now. The text I am working on is a student reference, not quite a textbook, but along those lines. Meanwhile, each unit also has handouts and quizzes and other materials, all of which must pass through the expert’s hands. How he keeps up with it all, I have no idea.

I just need to make sure I put the extra time to good use and not waste it.

Oh! Time to pick DC up from school!

Yes, Helia, I turned in a portfolio of work at the end of November and I'm now certified by the Board for Certification of Genealogists. The case study was one part of the portfolio. I can more than likely get it published in less prestigious publications in my state, but wanted to try the big National Genealogy Society quarterly publication. It would be a dream come true to be both certified and published in the NGSQ.

I'm so very sorry you've been struggling, and fully endorse seeing a counselor or therapist. You are likely also grieving for your church family that has been broken up by the court case. It's a lot to process. Congrats on the upcoming marriage.

I ate too much before I worked out, but did reasonably well there. May is going to be only four workouts. Two this week, and two the week of 22 May. On the way home I stopped to see if I could get a COVID booster - waited around (I was ok, not in a hurry, and felt for the pharmacist) and it turned out, after she processed everything that their vaccine had expired. She suggested I try a larger drugstore where it likely turned over faster, so I made an appointment in the a.m. to do that.

Now I'm feeling kind of "done" with the day and wondering if I should "work" or play. When I stopped to go to body work at 11:15 I was rarin' to go. Now....not.

Went to deliver the newsletters, got a text before I was out the door asking me to take money to the other building. Great timing, I'm on my way there anyway. Respond to text and house phone rings. It is the Council on Aging who are putting on a workshop next Monday. I was worried about attendance, but it turns out they already have 32. I'm not sure the room will fit more and I'm looking at the newsletters in my hands that are telling those without email or on Facebook about the workshop. Sigh...

Made all the arrangements with the guy for Monday and gave him my cell number.

Did the newsletter deliveries (there were two more items in there) and dropped off the money. Check mail, nothing. Got upstairs and immediately went back down taking one last winter decorations to the storage locker and my hiking poles to the car.

Get back upstairs and dh suggest going out for burgers. It is a longish, rush hour drive to the place we want to try so maybe I should cancel that. There's a location within walking distance but it turns out it is a ghost kitchen so while it shows on their website, you can't actually order from there, you have to order through UberEats. Uhhhhmmmm, NO WAY!

So now dinner is up in the air.

As is my meeting tomorrow afternoon to resolve the signing authority for the residents' association. One of the 3 of us can't be there. Which has been the case since February. So the next time we'll all be in the CITY together (let alone a room) will be May 22.

helia, it's cool 8-) to have you around. Agreeing with blessed that I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your father and the struggle with visiting your mother when your brother will not - you must feel sort of alone when he says that.

No, you couldn't be morally wrong to have those honest concerns. I'm sorry anyone at your church thinks you should be criticized for your own understanding, much less that a group thinks in such a way. Hopefully relationships can get better. My membership church is pretty much lost to me, so I know it hurts. The new interim pastor had them send out a survey by email and HRH printed it out. Dd24 wouldn't hold out her hand to take/touch it, so that was an obvious answer from her. HRH thought I should try answering, but every question seemed to be asking for sarcasm, so I realized it wasn't a serious set of questions that acknowledged the situation, and the better part of valor was to decline responding. Like you, I've found benefit in this time anyway, with other excellent resources and online fellowship.

Also, so sorry to hear that Maia has passed. We heard so many happy stories about her - I also remember when she got hurt once, and you were worried. Dd24's ferret had to be put to sleep yesterday, so we are kind of subdued around here today.

Still recuperating from last evening, when we definitely ate wrong, plus felt "down". The fiancée brought the little cardboard casket from the vet and buried it in a corner of our yard. He hung out here with dd24 for the rest of the evening until he finally needed to head back to his house rather late for him on a worknight. Dd24 had brought fast food for the 4 of us from a place we never heard of (?) "shake" is in the name and it may or may not be a chain. She got me a mushroom burger, which was tasty but so covered with melted cheeses that I felt heavy and uncomfortable afterward.

End of school - I need to take a look at dd43's boys' schedule for EOGs, because different subsets of boys will be remaining at home while dd takes one or two at a time to the testing. When it's younger ones, HRH and I need to be very aware.
Ds' children, in the in-person school, have a later end-of-year calendar. Sad, a bit, to think that dgs11, our green-eyed boy, will be "graduating" his elementary school and headed to the middle school next year.
