Can you sit still for a while? We expect it of our pets and (sometimes) our children.
So, come and sit and stay for a while this Sunday morning.
Reset, relax and revive yourself.

Re: Sit down and stay awhile this Sunday, June 4
I'm sure our neighbours just love my dh this morning. He's cutting the grass and it's not even 9 a.m. yet.
We both had a rough night's sleep. Dh tends to get my sheets and duvet and blanket pinned under his body. If I get up in the night, I need to pull my covers out from under him when I come back to the bed, which wake him up.
I have put 2 loads of stuff through the dryer to unwrinkle them. Now the bed sheet is on the bed, and the bed is remade. I have other bottom sheets, but I like the grey one in the summer because it looks cold. I've taken out 2 bags of burnables, 1 bag of recycling and 1 bag of garbage. I have also re-arranged the shelf behind me so there is room for the Craft Guild's file box. I've also re-arranged the top shelf where all the food stuff is to make room for a large box that was on the island for at least a month. Before bed last night, I promised myself I would try to deal with all the hot spots that have sprung up around here. The island is the worst offender. Dh piles stuff on it and so do I.
We are having the rest of the ham tonight along with numerous cold salads.

Cathy - Thank you for opening the SHE village this morning with such a welcoming post. I say YES to sit and stay awhile. With a small pause because I wanted to get my 250+ steps done before TOTH.
DH has an upset stomach and I'm still battling an infection. We are staying home from church this morning.

Re: Sit down and stay awhile this Sunday, June 4
I measured the dry ingredients for my current favorite smoothie recipe. I used 7 half pint mason jars to store the daily ingredients so making breakfast this week will be quick and easy.
I went to the garden 3 times this morning to get my hourly steps accomplished. Each time I have harvested more onions. I am using a section of a cattle panel as a drying rack to hang the onions.
4 rooms have received their daily 1-3 minutes of PUPA and spray/wipe of surfaces.
Lunch was a wrap. I use the high fiber/protein wraps and they don't cause my blood sugar to spike

Bedclothes chat - Cathy, IKWYM. As ya'll know, HRH's aches and pains have grown over time, because of the steroid treatments he had to have. So, he sleeps in our bed about half of each night now, with the other half on the couch, seldom the same hours from one night to another. Wherever he is, he's turning and turning, trying to get an aching hip into a better position. His strength hasn't changed, and, especially in his sleep, if he twists the covers/sheets in one direction, they go that way, believe me. One of the reasons he goes to the couch is that he can see the evidence of a night when he's between normal top and bottom sheets. Looks like a whirl.
I'm not as simple a sleeper as I used to be either. I like a pillow a certain way or can't even think of getting in the bed, etc.
Smoothie chat - LadyM, I broke over and invested again in the most nutritious "superfoods" powder I have found (well, it was dd43 who invested last time). Bought one bag for me and one for dd24, who races out the door in the early morning without breakfast. I'll be interested to hear if she decides to make them at home or carry to work dry in her shaker tumbler for a later brunch or lunch. I doubt if she will mix additional dry ingredients in advance, though - I'll be lucky to find out that she's even done this much. But I'll mention to her it might be nice, even if it was just hempseeds for a nutty, thicker smoothie. She'll use the amount they suggest. I only use half because I put so much into mine. I wish RunKitty was still around to chat about this - she was very knowledgeable.
Here it's our breakfast bar, under hanging cabinets, that divides den from kitchen. HRH and I tend to think of it as "den" until there's lots of cooking needed and then - too late - we realize we should have kept it available for "kitchen". I was truly embarrassed yesterday when the young man arrived with the groceries he thought we knew he was bringing, in advance of dd23 getting here to help him cook for their evening with us. I didn't get the memo!!!!
The kitchen is too small to have a surface that's not ready, and the bar is closest cabinet height to the fridge. I think when they do this at his house, they have lots of space. Oh, well.

Re: Sit down and stay awhile this Sunday, June 4
Hello to everyone! I am ready to sit down and stay awhile, and waiting and praying for word from Dee and family. (((Dee)))
I barely recognize myself this afternoon!
DGS did not have piano lessons -- his teacher's daughter was sick and she wanted to get back home earlier -- and dgd had a softball party. Right now they are both at the party, and dgs is fervently hoping he is not the only "big kid" there. I told ds, if he IS, just act like you expected me to come pick him up there, and call me. DS did not really want to take him. Two of the softball players have siblings in dgs' class, so he thinks they will show up; and the parents are playing the kids in a game, so dgs is hoping to get to play.
DDIL is still fighting a stomach virus -- she came home from work early Friday night -- but she plans to work tonight, so I know ds was hoping for a quiet day at their house this afternoon. I told him I'd keep both kids after the party, and dgd and I can go to Wmart then.
Otherwise, in approx 90 minutes after getting home from church, I have
* helped dh get lunch on the table
* eaten
* washed dishes and swept kitchen
* started dishwasher
* checked to see if plant needed water
* checked for trash in my purse
* wiped out refrigerator & restocked cokes
* took allergy shots
* folded & put away laundry that was left on the dryer
* s/s "guest" bath
All that is left for my Sunday misc tasks is to
[ ] refill meds for the week
[ ] go to Wmart
[ ] take trash to road
[ ] empty dishwasher (dh & dgrands will help)
[ ] set up planner for the week
I never get this far along by this time of day on Sundays!
(((Lord & LadyM))) -- hope you both feel better soon!
The counter beside the back door is something of a hot spot around here. I always leave my wallet, keys, glasses, etc, right there. I put my purse on a little corner desk space (actually just another countertop space) right across from it, so this sounds ridiculous when I type it out like that -- but more often than not, I don't take my purse with me, just wallet, keys, glasses, and phone.
The corner desk has the modem sitting on it, a dry erase board, the landline phone, a pencil holder pottery thing that ds made in middle school, and an old mail box from the post office in my grandparents' town. It holds envelopes, paper clips, etc. There are two open shelves above it, and they have quite an assortment of misc stuff there too. And yes, this is the Very First Thing you see when you walk in the door.
The other counter is below hanging cabinets, and runs into the sink, then more cabinets and counter space. First on this counter space is a lazy Susan with bananas in it, a basket where I general put my keys, glasses, and wallet, misc papers underneath the basket, a set of canisters that hold misc non-food items, a few framed pictures of dgrands, and a stack of insurance/medicare records with a basket on top.
We are NOT minimalists around here. I see these pictures of houses where the kitchen is all white & the countertops are totally bare, except for maybe an artfully placed succulent in a artfully styled white crock of some sort... but that just ain't happening around here. I'd be embarrassed to go on telling y'all what else is on our countertops. We are blessed with a LOT of counter space, and we both -- but Sheldon, especially -- have a sort of "out of sight, out of mind" mentality, so we need stuff where we can get to it. ALL dh's meds are on the counter on the other side of the sink, for example.
It did occur to me, however, while I was washing dishes, that there is really no reason for the insurance & Medicare stuff to be in there by the sink. I never look at it except when dh gets a new lab report online, and at that point, it would be more convenient to have it in here by the computer. Hmmm...

Dh had a shower and he was watching tv when I went to have a shower. I went straight to bed after my shower to read. Dh came in to "stretch out" as he's been calling it lately. I just woke up. He is still snoring. ... here he comes to use the washroom. I have been having a PJ day.
Good thing we decided on a very easy supper. I'm going to start putting stuff on the table.

I finished the onion harvest which resulted in a wall of onions that are drying. I leaned a metal cattle panel against an outside wall that is always in the shade and then hung the onions on the metal bars. Once the onions are dried and cured then I'll move them to a more permanent storage place. Last year I had onions from the garden that stored well for months.
DH still isn't feeling well. We have reviewed the food he has eaten in the last 24 hours and believe his digestive problems are from eating too much pasta. This has happened before but sometimes he forgets. He can eat a small portion of pasta without problems but when he eats a main meal of pasta then his body reacts to it.
My extended family is gathering at DBro home to celebrate his 70th birthday and the 5th year since he rang the bell after stem cell replacement. I'm not sure how many of the extended family will be there but I expect it will be over 50 of us. Unfortunately, the weather is making it a challenge to do it outdoors as planned. We won't be able to all fit inside their house so will be using a big barn, a shop, and several big porches & overhangs where we can gather & stay dry.

Re: Sit down and stay awhile this Sunday, June 4
Hi everyone! Despite adding SHE check to my daily list, it got too late for me Saturday. I have CUOPed which is good because I saw Harmony's question. Here is an answer for her and anyone else who finds it useful: The second type of files is for when you download things like executables and updates. It never hurts to have it ask you where to put them, you can always leave it at the default. And, no, this is not intuitive. I had to look it up long ago. And phone user interfaces are the worst. If I had made UIs like that at my former job, I doubt I would have lasted!
Here is what I have done today (it is 3 pm here): church, a little weeding, guitar practice (Take Back the Power by the Interrupters), exercise (possibly overdid), LOLs are running but I have not had time to do the washer repair. My kludge fix is preventing leaks, but won't last forever. I am a little afraid to be sitting, even though it will be less than an hour. With my knee and possibly overdone exercise, I may have trouble walking. I will know when I swap the laundry.
Next up: continue LOLs, B&B, and home email catchup.
We don't get hurricanes in New Mexico, but the winds knocked over my gas grill again.
Love Kathryn's camping cot bunk bed set. My brothers and I fought over who got the cot at my grandparent's house.
ETA: did not have trouble walking to LOLs. Yes, I am sore, but not debilitated. Hope tomorrow is ok.
