Re: Monday Morning
Ugh. I haven't finished that round but after showering I realized a dark spot on my leg is worrisome. Dermatologist's office got me in for tomorrow a.m. On repeated looks, it may be nothing but I'm worried. They were so nice. Downside was that it's at 8:40 a.m. but it's worth it.

Re: Monday Morning
Twins - glad to see you home and posting again. BWTG on getting an appt to check the concerning spot.
Lunch went about how I expected. DH and I loved it but the kids were not thrilled. That's okay. The school is serving lunches during the month of June so the kids can eat there if they prefer.
I called and got an appt to have DH fitted for diabetic shoes tomorrow.
I did a deep clean of the main refrigerator. It was past due.

Re: Monday Morning
LadyM, it's good to be back. You have a good plan and they'll survive.
RR, so sorry you've had another migraine.
Kathryn, where are the fires that are affecting you? I haven't kept up on the news recently. So nice to see you spending time with dgs. You missed a lot with the other two.
Big wave to Harmony, Dove, and Nancy!
I think I'm done for the afternoon. I made some genealogy notes yesterday while I was stuck behind an accident on I-81.(It took about 30 min of almost standstill traffic to get through.) I'm going to transcribe the notes into my planner and also review notes from the conference for things I can follow up on.
Dh just called and asked if I wanted to go out for eggplant tonight. I told him that he was a very smart man!

Re: Monday Morning
I could smell something "off" this morning in this general area of the house. Thankfully it was just a nasty, stinky mop. I boiled some water and put it in the bucket, added a large portion of bleach, more boiling hot water and then I put the mop into the water. Now the mop is cleaner than it was. That water was very dirty. Right now I am boiling more water so I can wash the floor in the bathroom.
While I was in the middle of doing that, dh is yelling at a cat and then he came and got the (dirty) mop and mopped part of the living room floor. Plus I had to call a bank to get an appointment for the craft guild to switch some info so that the statements will come to this address and I will be marked as treasurer in their records. After that I had to call the other 2 women that sign cheques on that account so that all 3 of us are available to go to the bank at the same time.
Now the water has come to a boil again, so I need to go re-wash the mop.
Plus the kitchen is calling my name in capital letters.
Smoke is coming from wild fires in the province of Quebec (Kathryn lives near the border between Ontario and Quebec) plus there are other wild fires in northern Ontario. Where I live between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie, there is an air quality warning regarding the same fires and smoke. It is a rather hazy looking day out there.

Re: Monday Morning
I cleaned under the mower deck.
Fetched mail no package that I am expecting might be coming on one of the trucks.
Have a change in a good way for carpool granny duty that is closer to home.
Thought it was last week nope.
Had brunch & a rest break.
Got more trash ready to go out for trash pick up in the morning so that helps cut down on the clutter.
I still have one batch to go in the can later after trash pick up.
I am getting there bit by bit yea!
Got my steps in before noon this morning yea!
Car pool & dinner done.
Proud I remembered my vits. on my own today it is getting to become a habit yea!

Re: Monday Morning
I'm glad I set my hopes high and expectations low with implementing the new family meal plan. I prepared a double batch of meatballs stuffed with mozzarella cheese, green beans, and mashed potatoes. I am happy with how everything came out. However, when it came to time for an evening meal there wasn't anyone here. Ohs well. I sat at the dining room table by myself and enjoyed every bite.
DS14 came home from work and brought a friend home with him. The boys are all excited about installing a knock sensor in pickup. They have talked to mentors and researched how to do it online (youtube) and are confident they can accomplish it. Their excitement level is telling when teenage boys are more excited about their vehicle project than they are about eating. They talked DH into taking them to the next town to get spark plugs, oil & filter so they can replace them also. I expect they will be working until bedtime on this project. I am thankful to see them fully engaged and learning new skills .....even though it meant the meal I prepared will be eaten whenever.
DH just got home and fixed a plate. Two down and two to go.

Re: Monday Morning
I napped 20 minutes before dgs woke up aggrieved. He had been so tired he fell asleep before finishing his bottle and then was hungry, I guess, and woke up early. He finished it off in my arms but then was ready to roll. Though he kept rubbing his eyes. At first we thought he was still tired but then it occurred to me that his eyes are stinging him, like mine are.
I also have a headache now. And my nose is dripping both likely sinuses aggravated. There's nothing more I can do, the apartment is shut up and the air purifiers are on. They aren't showing there's a problem they can't handle.
I got the bedrooms and living room dusted. Was using a white cloth and it is just grey now. I should vacuum but I don't have the strength.
There's a fire close to us but to the west so that isn't the one causing our discomfort. And it seems worse now than earlier although that is a subjective call. We took photos but it isn't something obvious like a building across the river no longer visible. The ski hill is still in sight but the rest of the hills are obscured.
I know some of you have this quite frequently. It has been a decade since our last bad time, and I honestly don't recall it so was either traveling or it hit the city but not the rural areas.
Dh and I took dgs to his mom at the hospital parking lot and also left hand-made rocking horse dd was sending on to them. Dh's BIL made it for our kids when they were small. From the hospital we went on to the thrift store and emptied out the rest of the stuff I had to get out of the house/car. Then picked up some fill-in groceries and came home.
I have to fold the last load of laundry and then maybe dust the dining room before going to bed really early.
Edited to add: looking at the firesmoke.ca imagery, I have at least 2 more days to get through. It looks like the nights will be the worst, though.

Re: Monday Morning
I saw on another SHE board that Evelyn's family has been allowed to return to their homes in NS after evacuating for a week. Her uncle thinks his cottage has burned.
I have been looking at the wildfire map data but the smoke maps give more information. It looks like several SHE's are going to be affected by the smoke. Kathryn - thanks for sharing that online map.
DS14 and friends stopped working on pickup to go swimming to cool down. They swam in a neighbors pool for 30ish minutes then came back and started working on vehicles again. DS14 has walked through the kitchen twice when he came inside to change clothes. Each trip through the kitchen included him filling his hands with meatballs and eating while walking out the door. I'm not doing well on teaching him good eating habits.

Re: Monday Morning
Just getting here today.
This morning was Desk Day for our household and I got that done in total, with a few pieces through to the mail carrier's pickup, yay.
I ordered two presents online as well.
Extra laundry of towels and washcloths. I like textile chores. Towels hanging on the standing-rack and washcloths stacked on the shelf look so fresh in the bathroom when they are done.
Then off to errands with HRH. I had an appt and then we went to the grocery.
He's disappointed that a fellow who was going to come help him with some outdoor and storage chores didn't show, but he did get an apology call and a promise to try again tomorrow.
Youngest grandson had an ER trip today, but all is well. I think their pediatrician was erring on the side of caution. Still, we were holding our breath(s) a bit and HRH and I were on sentry duty for the other 3! Poor dd43.
Dee is on my mind, along with her family.
