New Roof in my future....
I talked to dd and she gave me info. I needed.
Called contractor and dgson is the roof guy! I think this is his 3rd summer of doing that!
I asked them to look at the deck too hoping it can be repaired.
Big sigh.

I had to put on my big girl panties and send that text.
LH wanted a tin / metal roof not me! Dd explained why that was not a good idea they leak and
de-value property. So glad I can make that decision and not fight with lh about that! Getting a roof was on his list. I knew he had used this person and would be proud to know dgson was the man!

I bet our roof is 14-20 yrs. old, lh kept track of that stuff, it had moss on it and is the worst looking one in the neighborhood. Sil I trust and he will look at it. Last time we had them take it to the wood. I talked to my son, and dd who has construction experience. I will ask and if it does not need replaced maybe the deck...

I have raked seeds again our front and hope I have what is the final pile. It was nice after the sun was behind the houses to the West.
Glad I did that I was feeling odd after hearing a yt vid. on some who had loss & it was great to snap me out of that downer mood.
Also glad I realized I could do that to help.

How old is your present roof, Nancy? Ours is 15 years old and the inspector just told us it has 10 more years of life left. We'll see if he's right. Maybe we won't be here by then, who knows.

Our lunch out was very nice. She suggested a nice place that my girlfriend likes to go to so I knew the menu. I had soup and salad but instead of a cup they bring a huge bowl, and the garden salad was also big. It's past dinner time and I am not hungry still! She also invited an older guy who lives in the neighborhood. He had lots of stories to tell. After we ate she asked if we had the bill and I gave it to her. She looked at it and said it was not right we didn't charge her enough. She wrote a check but said this wasn't the end of what she would give us. We felt ok with what we decided and told her it was ok...so we'll see how this all plays out. If DH had been in better shape and worked harder himself he'd have charged more. I suspect she's not poor.

She took DH off to a couple stores to look for some vinyl trim pieces but what she wants is an old pattern nobody makes any more. They went 4 places and didn't find anything she liked. She's going to look online. So by the time she brought DH home I was working outside. I trimmed all around the flower garden and then I cleaned the front porch, all the windows and screens and all the furniture out there and hosed it all and the floor. It was a big huge job and I'm glad it's done. I came in and got a shower and I am back in my nightgown. I've already changed clothes 3 times today and I'm not getting dressed a 4th time. So, I'm sitting here in my nightgown with a very tired/sore back. I hear DH puttering around in the kitchen so I guess he's found something to eat. After all the food we've already eaten today I'm not cooking.

LadyM, you have the most violent weather in your state. Seems like there's always something going on. I'm glad you didn't have broken windows this time.

Ok, guess I should go out and see if DH needs help finding some leftovers to eat. There is chicken and corn out there.

DBro called and gave me the update of his storm damage. He had 2 vehicle windows shattered. His house roof will have to be replaced. His vegetable garden is flatten and probably won't recover. And his one and only chicken got hit by hail and died. Why did the chicken leave her safe place and run across the yard during the middle of a hail storm? Who knows.

I spent some time in the shed in back yard going through and deciding what to keep, give away and throw away. DS14 has volunteered to clean the shed out. He is motivated because we have given DS14 permission to store his dirtbike, atv, etc in the shed.

I used a large cast iron skillet with a lid on high flames to cook the sirloin steak. I cooked it for 4 minutes on one side, flipped it and cooked it for 4 minutes on the other side. Both sides were seared & crusty. Then i let it sit for 4 minutes before cutting into the steak. I was cooked to perfection. (IMHO)

LadyM, was the steak actually cooked all the way through or was it really rare? How thick was that steak? I would have cooked it on low another 10 minutes! Maybe that's wrong.

Sorry about all the damage your DB had. It sounds awful. I have always been curious about something. If the roof is a shingle roof, just how much damage does hail cause? I can understand a car getting dented all over but a wood and shingle roof never made sense to me how ice could damage it like that. We don't get much hail here. It does happen but very rarely.

So I am pretty worn out from all the work today. I have 3 big broken-open blisters on 2 fingers, mostly from using the clippers to trim the flower garden. We went out on the porch and looked at everything so nice and clean and DH was very surprised. It was very hot when I was out in the sun trimming. He says I should get up earlier before the sun gets so hot. Wellllll if I was a morning person...yeah I would. I'll leave that stuff in early morning to people like Nancy!
