Re: Wondering Wednesday
Lunch done! Watched an episode of Shrinking. One thing with streaming — there aren’t nearly so many half-hour shows as with regular TV.
Next up: dishes, flipping the wash, and starting a new load.
LadyM, do you think DS has forgotten that vacation from school does not mean vacation from everything? You sound like the same sort of cook my DH is. Usually I plan the menus, but when he’s left to his own devices, he can come up with some amazing stuff.
Off to load the dishwasher!

Re: Wondering Wednesday
I got some bargains at the place we get most of our flowers. For $2 each, I got 4 mature geraniums (burgundy coloured), 4 deep purple petunias, and 4 plants that were light blue (snowball something) and 4 that were white and looked wispy). For another $5 each, I got 2 dark purple petunias that have white stripes. I'm going to go back tomorrow to see what else they have. Most of the stuff was $15 in hanging baskets. I always go to the bargain table first. I've planted some of the stuff, but there is thunder and the sky is getting very dark. I'm going to let Mother Nature take care of the watering today.
While we were outside playing in the dirt, we got our water delivery.

Re: Wondering Wednesday
Oh Cathy, planting things sounds so good. It's been so hit or miss with me that I haven't even planted my zinnia seeds this year. They prefer hot weather so I can still get them out but I'm way late.
I've been piddling taking care of things. The USB connector for the induction charging pad for my phone broke so I only have one phone charger for house, upstairs and car. So I ordered another. I have a small Best Buy "bonus" that I used.
Phone call from temple. The lady who is the chair of the cemetery had back surgery last week and is in rehab now, but the temple admin didn't want to bother her and wanted to let someone know about the damage to the cemetery fence and wall in the last days. So I need to send an email about that.
I've been trying to write and send an email to the lady in IL who is helping me with the White family bible there. Tried before I left for wedding too.
Ugh.

Re: Wondering Wednesday
I am burned out with all this paperwork. I didn't think it would take all day but it has. I have been working slowly. Everything is done except for figuring out DH's teeth stuff. That year is missing. I know I dragged it out when I was checking what had happened to us at the start of the pandemic when we began missing dental appointments. All DH's work was done in 2019. I suspect when I had it out it got put with the 2019 records which is now out in the garage. Uggg. I don't want to dig in out there but seems I must. Every other place has been checked. I should have gotten our dental records when our Dentist sold his business and retired. But by the time the virus stuff was over and I found a new dentist, then the hurricane ruined the new people's building and they moved off. I think they might be back there now.
Guess I should just say ok, whatever you think, we don't know what happened with this stuff... but just fix it up.
Why do I have to understand everything? Every. Little. Thing. Part of it is DH is resisting getting this work done and I find a way to encourage him to keep going...
It's like a broiler outside. 95° but the humidity is high. I told DH we were going to get rain... and he's irked we didn't get the paint on before this. Ok. I know rainy season is here and it will be hard to find a totally dry day to do the work...but it will get done. Along with all the other stuff I have to do every day...all the time... man I'm tired!
Yikes, tornado warnings. I hope Lucylee is safe.

Re: Wondering Wednesday
I mowed the back yard yea!
Step count done for today.
I rested a bit.
tummy did not like what I put in it.
-----
The quote is actually from mystery w. at the bottom of her post when I copied it on the bday greetings I put out.
I have been out watering in the wind and washed my next batch of rocks to paint they are drying in the wind.
I rested and have a plan for dinner.
Might have to do a store run unless I want beans or ppj tomorrow.
Was trying to make it till Fri. no reason other than so much on my list is not done with the yard work.
I had pop tarts for dinner the other day.
Used the pumice stone on my feet.
Got fresh water for the birds in the back yard water.

Re: Wondering Wednesday
We had a tornado watch but nothing happened but rain and thunder.
That was all over by noon. All sunny now.
I’ve been running errands for dmom.

Re: Wondering Wednesday
Back from my errands.
Harmony… looked like rain here, but nope it ain’t gonna happen.
I went to hobby lobby for some candles and they already have all their fall stuff out
Out internet is out again. Some engineer dude cut the main cable when doing road work outside of our community. Sweetie has rigged a home made antenna so we can watch local channels. Came home and I’m putting things away.
Harmony … watching the weather man and no rain till maybe Friday. With the humidity and heat the index is suppose to be 105* for the next few days so be careful, and you need to take some me time.
Meantime I’ll spend the hot part of the day inside.
As far as cooking, I seldom cook or make anything complicated any more. 100’ways to make chicken, stream veggies or salad and rice for Sweetie. My fancy cooking days are over and I usually cook enough so we have leftovers for the next day. There’s a girl on my FB lead that makes all her meals for two weeks in an hour. She puts meat and whatever else is needed uncooked in a freezer bag and freezes it. Then each morning she takes a bag out, puts it in her slow cooker and it’s ready for her dinner. She feeds 6! She has a great following and offers her own cookbook on how she does this. She uses ziplock freezer bags and a stand she bought from Amazon. She’s fun to watch when she makes her meals.
Sweetie gets baked chicken from dinner last night, veggies and rice to night. I can’t do chicken all the time so I usually make fish or a steak.

Re: Wondering Wednesday
Nancy: I love that quote you put on page 1 today!
I'm home and 'coming to' after breaking for 'me time' and a snack.
The grands were fine, really cuddly. I love that in particular with dgs6 since I know it will end before I'm ready for it to end. I picked him up from school on foot and we walked back in misty rain. He picked the longer route which meant more time just the two of us. And he held my hand the whole way (we were on a path through a linear park that runs behind houses so no need for hand holding.)
He had several crying meltdowns, the first when I picked him up from school since they wouldn't let him hug his friend goodbye, and another when he found out I forgot the book I'm reading to him. During his virtual appointment he had at least one more melt down and the physio decided to make a home visit. in 10 days. I'll babysit again, although it is on a Saturday so I guess that's so dd and dsil can both meet with her and hear her recommendations.
Dd is quite ill and the grands both started up bad coughs again today so I was masked the whole time.
I left shortly after 2 but still hit the same bad traffic on the way home as I hit yesterday at 3:30. I stopped in at a grocery store once at my end of town and, because I was hungry, bought too much junk food.
Dinner is hot dogs and chips and a salad. And I hear dh in the kitchen now so I'll go help him. But first I need to find my notes to add to my power point sermon. I made them after church a few weeks ago and they'll be in a bulletin.

Re: Wondering Wednesday
Home from the city with $300+ of groceries unloaded and put away. Now I have 30 minutes to rest before I leave to take care of the babies and toddlers.
I received good news and other news from the Endodontist. Good News = The tooth is alive, and he does not recommend a root canal. He showed today's xrays compared to xrays he took in 2012 and explained in detail what he thinks the tooth needs. The endodontist recommended seeing a periodontist for root planing and bone graft. I explained that I went through multiple bone & gum graft surgeries a couple decades ago and I am not eager to repeat the experience. He did his best to talk it up and tell how much progress periodontal surgeries have made in the last 2 decades. Maybe so....but I'm still not eager. ugh.
I have been late for the last 2 medical appts in the city. Being late is highly unusual for me. Today I allowed 55 minutes for the drive which would have put me there 10 minutes early. However, i did not plan on a semi-truck flipping and completely shutting down all lanes on the interstate. Instead of easy 75mph travel on the interstate it became miles long parking lot. There weren't any off ramps available so it wasn't a choice, but everyone had to just sit and wait it out. The semi-truck driver wasn't hurt and I got a chance to practice patience and keeping calm while fighting my tendency to become anxious when I am surrounded and not in open spaces. All's well that ends well.

Re: Wondering Wednesday
LadyM, we have so many similarities today. I'm glad you can save your tooth. Even if it's not easy, saving the tooth is the goal. Easy for me to say, it's not me getting the graph, I know. I was really scared getting my root canal...my first (hopefully my last) ever... and I remember just sitting in that chair scared out of my mind. I was praying and I just put myself in God's hands and let the Dr. do it. Every time I think about it I'm glad now that I saved that tooth. I'll be your cheerleader: rah rah, you can do it!
DH had the last 3 fillings without the shot of deadening first. I think that's nuts, but last time that shot didn't wear off for a week and his lip swelled up for days. The Dentist told him to put up his hand if it got to be too much. He said it was fine. But I have finally figured out what happened. When he had all the work done in 2019, he wasn't all the way finished. He had one crown to go, and he went and got some fillings but then his ankle went bad and he was in a lot of pain...plus being tired of paying for all the dental work. He found the ankle dr. after trying a couple others and got his ankle replacement just before the lockdown. This new dentist has been finishing all that work and will do the last crown.
He has been saying he doesn't want to put any more money into it. Well, all that he's done will be lost if he doesn't. So I've told him, we don't go on vacation, don't spend money on clothes and entertainment, we drive an old car...we can do THIS. We're going to take care of our teeth. He's going to get the rest all done if I have to drag him in there myself. I have a brother-in-law who has false teeth he can't wear. So, DH has quit arguing about it. It appears I have won this battle.
And now I have another desk top of papers to put back away. Whew.
We didn't get that rain either. Maybe we will paint tomorrow. I can't wait.
