How are you gaining, REgaining and maintaining strength these days?
We might have a strong constitution, a strong set of muscles, a strong personality (using it only for good, of course).
We may be aware of our strong SENSE OF a certain virtue, trait or pursuit.
There may be a strong desire within us to, for instance, GMAT : Get My Act Together!
Habits might help us "keep that strength up".
Writing down why we'd like to increase a type of strength could prompt us.
Scheduling regular attention for and to ourselves gives a boost.
Leaning on others, including wise counsel (like: don't do too much while recuperating!).
Have a strong Saturday and weekend!

Re: Saturday Strength Gain
Hi!
I on't know how strong I'll be today. I was up around 4 a.m. again. Very vivid dreams. Plus the air conditioner came on just as I thought I could get back to sleep. Realized that dh hadn't turned on the small fan, so the "white noise" wasn't there. I tried again, but my mind was already working on what I wanted to get done this morning.
I've already been to the store to buy cat litter.
Sausages for supper. I will most likely BBQ them.

Re: Saturday Strength Gain
DeeClutter and family certainly have my thoughts today when I consider strength re-gain, being strong to care for each other as ddJ and dsons and din-law children do. Thinking of the first birthday without dDad, coming up for the family.
lucylee, I'm thinking of you! What do you mean, weeks of tummy trouble!?! I had honestly thought that was fleeting. Remember, this is why we pay doctors the big bucks - get advice.
LadyM, re-gain of strength is being wished for you - slowly! Are all the bruises making sense by now? I think you had one without any tenderness, just color?
Good morning, Cathy. Sorry about the dreams. I try to remember that REM sleep is part of good health, but sheesh, some dreams! I guess even those dreams that are unpleasant may have some benefit for us... hmmm... ..
Elizabeth, best wishes on kitty appts and well-being. How are you, re: respiratory symptoms and any walking troubles still around?
Nancy and Elizabeth, best roofing wishes!
I'm fighting off some disappointment in how well the house is managing lately. Thinking.
Insofar as STRENGTH is needed, I'm trying to schedule and embrace habits as best I can. I believe I need to couple that with some thinking outside the box.
All week we did not get out to pick our new glasses, so another week wasted without helping our eyesight and we both need it. Weekends everyone is shopping so we'd rather not, and the place at the doctor's office is actually closed. Our previous foray into mail-order glasses didn't work out very well for HRH. Monday he has his regular checkup with the foot folks, so we might not get it done then, either.

Re: Saturday Strength Gain
Thanks, Harriet. Yes, it’s been pretty constant. I told dh last night, I am calling the doctor Tuesday if I survive this weekend/Monday.
The really bad sickness was quickly over though— that was just a half hour or so Thursday morning and I’ve had no nausea at all since then. But the “gotta run to the bathroom” problem has been a long time thing.
Today I’m trying to stay off artificial sweeteners and carbs.
I also realized I’ve been eating a lot of ice cream lately— ds gave us some he made and oh my… it was amazing! But I do suspect I may have some lactose intolerance.
When my brother was a baby/toddler, he couldn’t digest carbs. No crackers, nothing. He did drink diet cola (Tab). My mother would get so aggravated because the ladies in the church nursery just couldn’t seem to get it through their heads that no, he COULDN’T have “just a few crackers…” Then he’d be throwing up before we got home.
But his pediatrician said he’d grow out of it and he did.
Anyway — we’re on our way to the bluegrass festival.
Sorry to dwell on my stomach so much! Dh seems to be feeling a little better and ds is driving so we’re planning to have a good day.
I hope you all have a great day, and I sooo hope we hear some good news from Dee soon.

Re: Saturday Strength Gain
My Stats -
** This is Day #9 of covid being in our home. DH and the kids are feeling great and have no symptoms.
** Me Day #4 Covid testing positive. Yesterday was a better day. I still ran low grade fever all day, had sinus congestion, coughing, sneezing and general blah. However, it was better than the day before. Yesterday afternoon my energy level started to return, and I had to be firm with myself to restrict my activity. I allowed myself to go outside every hour to walk 2 times around the garden then I came back inside and returned to the recliner. I took another covid test in hopes that it would show negative, but it was another positive test result. Today is day #3 with country folk meds and will be my last dose. I am feeling much better today. My temperature was normal this morning YEAH, I continue with Mucinex to help with the sinus congestion. The brain fog is lifting, and I can think better. However, I am not giving myself permission to get out of this recliner yet. I get up to walk each hour then I make myself sit down and ignore everything that I want to do. I am so thankful that I have reached this point in recovery. I'm bored and getting frustrated with lack of activity. YES YES YES!!! This is such a great problem to have. I will take it!
** Me Day #5 recovery from failing down the cellar steps. I have regained full range of motion. I can squat all the way down. Whatever damage my knee sustained is not permanent. I am beyond thankful. I do notice that when walking my feet are almost tripping over things (water hose laying on the ground, etc). I am not lifting my feet up as high as I used to so I will remain aware and work on lifting my feet to ensure I don't start the elderly shuffle. I want to regain walking quickly and with confidence. I am consciously practicing walking every hour. My legs may look horrible with scabs and bruises, but I consider them an amazing gift. I am thankful to have the ability to move.

Ahhhh! I have a quiet afternoon! Dh is going out on the lake with the friend from last night. The wife can't go and I begged off. We may go to a thing at temple tonight, don't know. A and V, the river friends will be there, otherwise, they have a busy weekend and have company in.
Had dog trainer here to talk about Millie's "resource guarding" so we can shut it down.
I get to go upstairs now!

Re: Saturday Strength Gain
Summer has arrived here. 6 of the next 7 days have temperatures over 100F.
With that in mind, when i saw the following posted on FB it reminded me of how quickly time passes.

In exactly 6 months it is Christmas Eve!

Re: Saturday Strength Gain
Christmas Eve! EEKS! I don't even want to think about the holiday shuffle yet.
I am taking it slow and easy today because I have worked so hard yesterday. Right now I am cleaning out and reorganizing one of my clothes drawers. I have 2 sizes of something in there, and I can wear the smaller but the larger fits more comfortably. I needed a container (clear shoe box) to pull them out of that drawer, and in that process I cleaned out all the OTC glasses I used for a short time when I was in the midst of cataract surgery. Was going to donate but tried them on DH first and he can use them all and doesn't mind at all that some are a little fru-fru. I told him yeah, doesn't matter what you look like around here, but please don't take those to church with you! I suspect he will do that sometime but he totally doesn't care how he looks anywhere. He never did, this is not a new thing. I gave him a nice container of cases I made and the glasses. It's a clear box and he can see what's in there. I like things tucked away, but if they are he won't ever be able to find them.
We have a storm overhead so I guess I should get off here.
Thinking about strength.... I guess mine is in the keeping-on-keeping-on. I might have a bad day or get discouraged, but I always start again and try again. That's a strength, right?
