Harriet, glad your power wasn't out very long. In the scheme of things four hours is great after a major storm.

Strawberry season was just over here, Cathy. There's a farm here that is on Facebook and every morning then post how many gallons they have and how long the line is... Their strawberries are much in demand. They switch over to sunflowers next week and do u-pick and and photo sessions. And in the fall it's pumpkin - I think they plow the strawberries under and plant pumpkins? Not sure about that.

Harmony, do you think the competence of the plumber will make it easy for dh to "call the man" again, whatever the need is? Glad you got that taken care of!

Dove, I love seeing you look in with your cheerful posts!

Six miles of steps, Nancy? That's impressive!

I'm home from body work and the knee/hip/quads/gluteals feel better. He thought that when I pivoted directions quickly I "knocked" my hip out of alignment. I'm not aligned and hoping to stay that way. I need to have a snack and then head for my workout.

~~~~waving Hello to all~~~~~
I am thrilled to continue doing better every day. Building up my stamina remains my focus. Today I modified my force resting in recliner time from 35 minutes to 25 minutes. When the timer goes off, I get up and do things until I get tired. My activity time vs rest time is gradually changing.
I woke up naturally @6am ready to get started on the day. When I woke up I intended on going to VBS. However, I finally admitted to myself that VBS requires 3-4 hours of nonstop activity, and my stamina isn't up to doing that yet.
DH went to appt in the city and came home withdiabetic shoes and 3 sets of inserts made to fit his feet. Medicare covered 100% of the cost.
DS14 needed pants without holes and stains. I am thankful for the ease of obtaining them. He has worn the same pants, same size for a couple years so with just a few mouse clicks the pants are on their way here.
I have diced up a couple dozen peppers for the freezer. There are more peppers to be processed but I needed to take a break from doing it.
I didn't feel like putting effort into making a shake this morning using the blender, so I went with super simple. I poured 8 oz of Fairlife Fat Free Ultra-Filtered Milk into a glass and added a squirt of fruit flavor enhancer. 80 calories with 13g protein. 30 seconds and done.
I made a tuna salad for lunch that others would probably think it has too many tomatoes and peppers. To each their own. I don't think that it is possible to have too many tomatoes & peppers. :)
Just before lunch ci ~
The compressor only runs part time, nail guns are not so loud.
dgd weeded a bit and we took off the first board on the deck removal.
Scheduling for the new deck materials is possibly pushed back till next week.
=====
CI ~ After dinner
dgd did great!
The Crew have 3/4ths of the roof on amazingly fast.
Thundering now no rain yet.
I have almost 10,000 steps in without a walk today.
Dgd did that around the block.
I did patrol for stuff on the lawn every so often others were picking up too
so that helps the shingle bundle wrappers have been picked up, I raked some smaller pieces in a pile to get later.
May have enough to do the shed too forgot to ask about it, we will see.
Sausage cheese dogs to for each was a hit for the crew.
They are coming later in the morning tomorrow so that is good.
Kitchen is pretty much a disaster even though I did dishes today and put them away.
Dgd has rocks on the table I said she could just leave em there as they were still drying.
I am resting this evening just processing the day.
Cooking for the crew is a bit of a stretch dgd was going to help me but was not up on that task.
Oh well I ask her to set up a snack area and she did not get it, they just sat outside in lawn chairs in front under the shade tree,
I handed catsup out the window! LOL
I ended up doing "shake and bake" pork chops with Parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs.
It's been raining on and off all day. Washing machine is going. Dishwasher is full and waiting to be turned on. I've also done some pots and pans.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.
Finished my day-light - at a few degrees cooler - by getting the trash collected, kitty potty done and all to the cans for pick-up at dusk before the next light of day. Just about ideal.
I was going to check the mail, too, but a couple was walking at that time and even though I waved - twice - they kept walking towards me with no response and it weirded me out. I got back in the truck and went to the house quickly. Eeewww.
How can you just stare at a waving lady who's only dealing with her own trash can, that's all? It's not like I'm an ax murderer. But... .. are they? :? Hmmm... .. EVERYbody here waves. It's the law.
I've tried to help right some of the plants that were knocked down or collapsed by the high wind. They were all pressed over in an odd direction that I haven't seen wind push them before, and from a direction they had protection. So maybe wind was whipping 'round into crevices it usually misses.
Twins', we had had one serious distant incident that took out electricity for a large area. So, the fix for it took time but seemed to get a large percentage up and going right away, and happily we were with the majority this time.
Dd24 and I had a long chat. She's been asked to be maid of honor for a college friend now a few thousand miles away.
She plays a game some nights with her Dad and his friends online. It's odd to hear her voice coming from around the corner electronically. They are in terrible wars, of course, and it will sound just awful but then they laugh and laugh after the battles, often at themselves. So, I think, wholesome.
Strawberries - I have discovered chocolate hummus. 8-) That stuff is delicious for dipping strawberries, and you feel so virtuous. It's like, oh yes, me and my decadent, chocolaty treat, while I'm eating beans.
Harriet, so sad you had plant damage. I hope everything survives. Amazingly, all my bushes survived the hurricane. Not the trees, but the bushes, close to the ground, did ok. All the rain just perked them up and the flowering ones produced an abuncance of flowers shortly thereafter.
You are right about calling the man. This guy is an old friend from long long ago. In fact, we had him do the plumbing for this whole house when we built. He had trouble installing several of the faucets but finally got it done. Back then he had employees and did new construction plus repair and replace. Now as he's getting up there in age he no longer digs trenches and so does not do new construction. For a long while we used another couple, a man and his wife who we like very much and she is his helper and I've never had him do anything which he had trouble with. However, today's guy actually put this RO system in when we built so DH thought it best to call him. The other couple no longer does new construction either. All of the people we used to work with for so many years did what we did, got old and quit doing the hardest part of their jobs! So, while he worked away, we had pleasant conversation. He was sure he should just charge us a base service charge and we said NO charge us for what you actually did... and the paper came in at the base charge which we paid X 2! It was worth MORE than that for us.
We both just felt so stumped with this problem and the ensuing mess in the kitchen, a bit - I don't know the word for how we felt unable to take care of our problem, sorta vulnerable I guess - and every night I'd look around in the kitchen, unhappy at the mess there. My nightly routine includes washing every dish that's left from snacking or dinner if I've fallen asleep, and wiping counters, recharging coffeepot, everything neat and tidy for the next day. We've had 2 kitchen cabinet doors on the table, 2 nice sized bins of cleaners and brushes, etc. on the counters (they go under the sink) and the few extra things I keep under there. So very messy looking.
So Yes, easier to call him in for plumbing issues. Our electrician sold his company, retired; we don't have a painter to call; a lot of that issue makes it harder to call the man. But it sure worked out this time.
DH burned all the limbs, twigs, etc. in the fire pit. I am glad it burned quickly and is all done. I did the quarterly reports for the business. LadyM, I made that casserole you referenced yesterday. Some changes I made: I ended up mixing the potatoes into the other ingredients as they were laying on top and they needed to be down in the liquid a bit better to cook. I put a layer of sliced fresh tomatoes in it too which were wonderful. It turned out nice and was very filling. I did add chopped peppers in there too.
Ok, time for bed!
