I need a simple Sunday today! In the midst of the extended weekend holiday I'm already worn out from yesterday and slept in.
Let's keep it simple!

Re: Simple Sunday PWYC
It was nearly 10 when I got up this morning. I was up late with ddog and meds for her, and exhausted with the day yesterday. We went to the river with the dfriends and went out for a long boat ride. Meanwhile, there were t-storms moving in and we couldn't get A - captain of the boat - moving toward home. Once we did tho, he hit the gas and we made it back to their condo, docked, and got inside before the storm hit. There were white caps on the river for a little while, and a kayaker was stranded across the river, having pulled up on the bank to wait it out.
Since the decision was that I wouldn't go to the evening festivities, we ate out (excellent meal, but sooooo noisy) and got home, to find that dMillie, before 8 p.m. was already freaked out by some fireworks. I tried to walk her so she would pee/poop but she wouldn't have it. Got her dosed up and got in bed with her with white noise going. Meds definitely worked - I might even dial it back just a little and see how she is tonight because she was shaky on her feet. But she wouldn't go out to potty until this morning, so she had gone from before we went to the river yesterday to this morning and I worried about her.
Today is dkids birthday - I will call dd in a few, and we're taking ds out to eat tonight. I'll dose up dMillie before we leave tonight since meds are good for 8 to 12 hours.
And I'm afraid I lost it with dh when I needed to dose dMillie up and take care of her and he was just concerned with getting out the door to go see the fireworks last night. They didn't start until nearly 10 he said, and he was late - nearly midnight - getting home. He said that that dfriend who owned this pontoon boat fouled the prop with the lake weeds and they had to get it clear, and there was some other problem with the boat too. I am so glad I didn't go, even though things had cooled down from the storms.
Today I just want to hang out at home. We'll go out with ds tonight. Dh has gone to bowling alley about a bowling ball.
(How many does he have again?)
Dog needs a walk now, and I need a shower.

Re: Simple Sunday PWYC
Happy Birthday Twins!
I need a simple Sunday Thanks for starting us out Twins. I too slept in till 6:00.
The dog wanted out I opened the door and she jumped out the 4' drop just fine.
Then I put a small table that is a side table size there she came back in using it.
I put treats on it and the floor. She jumps up nearly that tall daily to see out the window.
Just so you know I will NOT be using it.
[I did put bricks to level it up.] A step stool could be used but I am not inclined to use that either so I did not bother with it.
I will just go around.
Hens have it uneven from dust baths I did not get it very level.
We have walked while it is cool and before the fireworks begin.
They are not supposed to start till the 3rd but we heard a couple yesterday.
I am watering this morning.
Living room got picked up last night I need to do the same in the kitchen and dining area.
My bedroom could use some more attn. as well.
I have a plan for meals.
I have planned not journaled.
Without the deck I can see my flowers so much better, but in this heat they will fade and be done.
The back yard looks so much bigger too.
My cherry sized plums are ripe I tried one today so I will tell the crew I do not use em.

Re: Simple Sunday PWYC
For next week I got lemonade in a can, and found an bowl for ice at the yard sale so will use that.
I think is actually for chips.
Wondering how long it takes to build a deck. They are off till Wed.
So I have time to get the place presentable.
Glad I did some crafting painted two side table tops.
That reminds me I have a small one to go outside.
Glad it is peaceful this morning here.

Did not go to church, kitchen is looking better.
I started crock pot.

Re: Simple Sunday PWYC
It's been a very, very long morning. I've had to mop the floor from the bed to the toilet twice in less than 3 hours. Dishwasher got emptied and refilled. Now it's ready to be emptied again.
Put away the clean clothes from the dryer.
Helped dh have a shower outside. I basically held up a towel between him and the backyard.
The second water tank company finally called back to let us know that they will come by on Tuesday with a quote. Work won't start until next week! Almost 2 weeks without hot running water. Dh isn't happy. I just keep refilling the huge pot and boiling more water as I need it.
I've actually been doing a good job of keeping up with the pots and pans.
Hamburgers and hot dogs for supper, along with bean salad, potato salad, coleslaw and hard boiled eggs.

Yes, Cathy, a simple supper for sure! Will you grill out? It cuts down on pots and pans here.
Walked ddog and ran into dfriend M, her dh and R uby. We agreed that our dogs are a big hungover today. I've s2s-ed too, and started a load of laundry.
I'm working on a.m. routine. I didn't do much yesterday a.m. and did nothing last night other than sit with the dog, so my house is showing it.

We will be BBQing today. Dh also has a zucchini he wants to grill.
We decided to have egg salad sandwiches for lunch, so no eggs left for supper because I don't feel like boiling anything else today.
Thankfully the cats don't seem too bothered by fireworks, because someone in the area had a LOT last night. Probably went for more than 30 minutes.

I have country style ribs going in the crock pot now and cleaned up the kitchen 2x.
Glad for some progress.
Classical music on in the background is helping me with a reset today.
I need to to do a rbr
and more pupa needs to happen.
I am not moving very fast but I am moving!
It is air show weekend.

Happy, Happy, Birthday, Birthday! And happy birthing day to Twins' Mom!
Is anyone else having a s-l-o-w time on our site? It took so long for me yesterday afternoon that I barely had time, then, to post a sentence but glad I did, and glad I got monthlies posted early. Today seems about the same.
Morning worship service was quite meaningful - pastoral prayer had me starting to tear, and then sermon was very intense in a good way, so I was a new color in the face afterward. lol.
They also just finished up VBS and their series of photos was long and lots of fun, too. As I think back on the years I was director, I regret not getting more photos, but it was not so easy-peasy then, with everyone snapping any time. These were adorable.
A visit yesterday from an in-law of an in-law was disconcerting on a few levels. Bad health news to report, then more bad health news, but also some decision-making going on that doesn't seem right. Ended up calling the children to talk some out. Could hear my ddad saying, "you can't tend to everybody's business", yet lives intersect, you know? I think I had some bad dreams last night in response to that, but then HRH had watched a mystery/sci-fi show about bad dreams, too
so who knows. Couldn't really avoid that on the tv. yuck
There were fireworks somewhere around here last evening. Loud enough to be weird, since there is no venue, just folks somewhere, with or without safety and certainly without permit. I wonder if that will be tonight, too. True, Cathy, about cats I think - Tobias lazes right through it, not distinguishing between the real noise outside and the pretend gunshots, bombs, door slams or whatever noise might be on tv.

Re: Simple Sunday PWYC
Kathryn is aware of the board sql problems. However, she already has her hands full doing grandchildren things today. Hopefully the SHE board software will play nice for a few more hours.
I am home from church. One of the things that was ignored during my covid/fall recovery was keeping the nursery volunteers organized. We coasted through the month of June because those nursery needs were already organized. I realized this morning that this was first Sunday of a new month and I had no volunteers lined up. Oops. I knew that the holiday weekend following 5 days of VBS is not the time to seek volunteers!! Everyone is max out exhausted from volunteering at VBS and/or are in the middle of family celebrations. This morning I sent out a request for volunteers on the women's GroupMe chat and was pleasantly surprised to have two Dfriends volunteer. They volunteered to do the early service and small group time slots so those were covered. That only left the later service for me to do. DH helped me and I am so thankful he did. We had 2 babies (each one of us was holding a baby in arms all the time) plus 4 toddlers. Thankfully every one of them were on their best behavior playing together nonstop with happy smiles and laughter.
DS14 requested we eat at Mexican restaurant. I was not eager to spend time in a crowded restaurant so we compromised. We ordered food and picked it up. When we went to pick the food up the restaurant was so busy there was lines of people waiting to get inside…and inside there were more lines of people standing waiting for a table. Thankfully we were able to quickly pay for our food, collect the sacks of prepared/packaged food and walk out the door
