-gas car
-wash car
-grocery
-p/u dog meds at vet

-drugstore
-teeth mold to dentist's mailbox - she lives near us
-take care of whatever smoke detector is beeping upstairs. Will take some hunting down and waiting (should put my hearing aids in too)
-laundry, etc. whatever else we need to do to go away tomorrow for the weekend.
-also, whatever else needs to be done here because I have a week long virtual genealogy institute next week. (I don't want to be going out for groceries on Monday a.m. when class starts at 10:30)

I struck through four items. I'll get the others that are out of house (drugstore, dentist's mailbox and workout) this afternoon. At this point I have maybe forty minutes before I need to leave again. I need a substantial snack.

Hi everyone. My favor for Future Elizabeth should be to call her doctor. I am not over the UTI and, while it has improved, my cough has not gone away and I live on cough drops. It's Thursday, so there is turkey & dressing at C racker B arrel. I wish I could get lunch size portions after work, but it is always too much. I eat it all anyway because it is delicious, then wish I didn't. Not sure what I will do. Payday is today, so whatever I choose can be done. Need to do bills and budget. Now have two sets of animal org minutes to do, I did not get the previous ones done. Cat continues to do well at the cat coordinator's house. She has not seen how bad it can become.

Sounds like owning a Tesla takes as much trip planning as a travel trailer.

lucylee: I have introduced xBFF and N. They hate each other. That being said, xBFF and N and N's friends have much in common. They also share similarities with my x and my mother. xBFF has chosen my x and the other woman because she loves to surround herself with drama and romance. I am starting to question my ability to choose people and spend most of my time alone. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

Elizabeth, ask for a to-go box when they bring your meal, and put what you won't eat in and close it. Out of sight, out of mind. (I should do this more often!)

Elizabeth, not so! Just look at your choice of hanging out with us! We are delightful.
I thought about baking a cake. I'm not sure ducks are in that row. ... .. Creativity, though... ..

Creativity, though... ..Creativity, though... ..Creativity, though... ..

:|

Cake in oven, and made according to my brainstorm of a layer cake that is actually a Pineapple Upside Down, but with an arrangement of portions of rings on the eventual "top" so that we could slice the cake without struggling through a ring and botching the slicing. A big part of that puzzle is making sure it could be duplicated in future. Thought for a moment I wouldn't have leftover, but I did, and I vanished it quickly right into my mouth. tada. Not a problem.

Mistakes were made  rookie ones, at that. So careful not to spill pineapple juice, I spilled maraschino cherry juice and guess what? It's sugary, too. Sigh. And dealing with the mop-up I kinda forgot where I was in the recipe and instead of using pineapple juice in the cake I absentmindedly went along with a stated recipe I had on hand and used water. Haven't neglected juice in a cake like this in years. Oh well!

Good things remembered: the wetted rings of torn toweling encircling the pans so they won't make such mounded cake layers. These are old but still work well, I just keep them with the safety pins already there for size. Cutting board with a little ditch around it (a gift) contained the juice as I cut fruit. Making only a 2-layer for a prototype to take one difficulty out this time. Next time, 3 I think.

I’m in recuperation mode here. Haven’t showered or anything.
Went to post office, paid yard man, talked to dmom on the phone.

At some point today, I have to iron.

Thinking of Dee’s dfamily today.

LOL at N & exBFF hating each other, Elizabeth. It’s probably because they are too much alike.
Tomorrow is another day.

Ohmigoodness, Harriet is on such a tangent today.

Layer pineapple cake turned out really pretty like a sunburst and EASY! And I can see where to cut to make equal cake slices with the same design on "top" of each, not trying to saw through fruit pieces. Glad I tried that, especially since 2 sets of company will come by today and keep us from eating it all!

Channeling Elizabeth, a good gift to Future Harriet is to remember HOW I cut and assembled the fruit pieces, though -

I put that into recipe forum.

Harriet, cake sounds pretty and I know it is delicious!

LadyM, sorry I've missed your Anniversary. Hope you had the kind of day exactly like you wanted.

Dr. visit this morning. Went well. It seems this Dr. does better if I have questions and situations to fix...maybe it makes her feel more useful. Super bad chapped lips that will not heal whatever I put on them...she suggested A&D ointment, like we all used for our babies diaper rashes. I bought some, it burns. Everything I put on that spot burns. Nothing heals. sigh.... and super sore neck toward the back, which she felt and said it was very tight. Several suggestions, neck exercises (which ones, I'll have to investigate that) heat, and then if nothing like that helps, physical therapy or xray of spine to check for arthritis. I was surprised at my other results today. Lab numbers all good except calcium, I've been taking my supplement wrong. Everything else better including A1C (I've been borderline for a while) and now my BP was better. I thought with all this stress recently it would be sky high...nope, not today. So, successful visit...and thankfully she didn't say anything about the few pounds I am up.

Stopped for a few things, and a foam board for the truck sign.

I did go outside and work on the sides of the truck. Got one big side done. I had time to work on the other but I just couldn't in this heat. Came in to cool off and DH came in to announce he was going to HD for supplies. I offered to take him so he didn't have so much walking to do...(aren't I the good wife?!) and off we went. I had to go inside to wait because it was 103° and there was no shade to park under. When we finally came out it was 104°! When is this heat wave going to stop? DH is working on 2 outside vents at the top of the truck and needed a bolt and some rivets. And a gasket. And paint for the other signs.

I will go outside and tackle the other side tomorrow morning as early as I can get out there. I had bought new rubber gloves and do you know your hands can sweat like crazy working in them? I changed them once and used with powder inside but even that didn't help. Guess I should go out and put my supplies back in the shop so we can close the door tonight. sigh....dinner will have to be something quick and easy.

Sitting in the car stuck in traffic, it has over 8 hours since we left and we still have another 1+ hours to go. I'm carsick and in tears.

Harriet, breaking up the trip isn't the way to go. It is taking around 9 hours a day to drive this trip. When I took 2 days with this car last June, I took 19 hours in total (from getting on the road to getting off at the end of the day) to get to NS compared to 26 hours on our way to NS this year. So all 3 days instead of 2 has done is waste 7 hours (or add a full day of boredom and discomfort to me.) And add hotel costs.

This place tonight was a major treat at $500. It is a complete waste of money since it will be for 7 waking hours. And another 8 hours of driving to look forward to. Tomorrow's drive will be in torrential rain from noon onward. So no walking while charging the car. And we will hit Montreal at rush hour on a Friday. Rush hour on the way to NS added over an hour to the drive and we never went anywhere near the city, we were circling around it.

I'm completely bored to tears and there's still one more day of this.
Picking lovely hotels doesn't help; we arrive too late to enjoy.

Today was 5.5 hours of driving according to 4 different travel planners and yet here we are having left at 8.22 and concerned we won't get to the inn before 6 which is the cutoff for check in.

A/C had just gone out at workout place, wasn't that bad, but definitely wasn't cold when I walked in, like it usually is. He took pity on me and it was a good workout but not one that left me ill and overheated.

I remembered my two errands on the way home but at CVS the pharmacy had a substantial line. I decided not to wait, that I'll go back in the morning. But I did use my coupons and get a few other things we need.

We have a big storm coming in. Street lights and landscape lighting are on. Severe T storm warming. I hope it blows through because I'm meeting dh for supper out at 5:30ish.

ADD alert! Storm is mostly over, still raining and hearing thunder. We had one boom that was particularly close that the dog didn't care for. We need to get the smoke detector upstairs dealt with - I think it's freaking her out because she's staying in the bedroom and hasn't eaten today. I got new batteries - just in case we're out - at the drugstore. If she's still not eating in the morning, the vet is probably in order.
