Slow Sunday

Post by Nancy »

I am taking it slow this Sunday how about you?
Up at 4:55 still not very lite out but I enjoyed watering in back as the day began.
Then did some qt stuff on the deck.
Fighting sniffles not sure if it's a cold or allergies.
Glad my back is better yea!
Yesterday I napped in the morning unusual for me to do that so early in the day.
Sipping coffee 2nd cup for me.

I put away the paints I moved to the spare room to go in the dresser in there.
Bed & coffee got made.
I have resumed my faith planner with a prayer focus this season.

I am taking it slow as well.

Hoping you are not getting a cold! how nice that you renewed your faith journal!
have a great day d Nancy and everyone!

I am trying to get back on routines. I have noticed that I am using tv/videos as my relaxing time at night. I used to do sewing/art/reading at night and I am wondering when I turned away from that. I am trying to get back to being creative at night!

dh, since dh and I had a talk to help him get what was inside of him, out, has really helped him! thank goodness! he gets cranky if he holds it all in.
Lol I need to get what I am thinking out otherwise I would be miserable. it's still hard for me to understand this bc I like to work things out and move forward. My dd younger is the same. I want to know what is bothering them so that I can help my behavior or find out what they need to be understood. It has to be so hard to hold in all of your thoughts. Dh gets passive aggressive and is not a nice person when he holds things in. It takes me quite a few days to break that shell when he is this way. Once he gets out of his head; he is such a nice person and feels understood. I am glad he is feeling better!

today is a hopeful cooking day. Menu planning and taking action on this.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

((((Blessed)))) It is a challenge to help our DH when they are being difficult. I hope for calm and nice times ahead.

I'm on day #3 of feeling like cr*p. Same symptoms but getting worse. Now I have completely lost my voice and my throat is very sore. I still have no fever, so Google and I have decided it is a virus. I would go to am/pm clinic if I thought they would do anything. I have my yearly appt on Wednesday with my family doc so I will see what he says then.

I asked DH to please keep himself and the kids fed today. I'm not on duty.

We ended up going for breakfast in what the locals call "the hollow". Same place as last week. The flea market was open, so I went over for a look. Came back to the truck with an absolutely pristine 10 cup coffee pot with the blue corning ware symbols on it. I got a great deal on it and I didn't even haggle! The faded sticker said $40 and I paid $40. Now it's living on the rack in my kitchen that has the tiny tea pot to match.

When we got home dh got the lawnmower out and I got the broom out. I swept and washed all the floors. He is cutting the grass.

Steak for supper. I need to make a bean salad and a pasta salad.

It's a bit too windy to burn anything, but I have 4 big bags full, plus some boxes.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Glad you got through to that dh of yours, bw2. Mine holds stuff in too and gets passive aggressive. I think sometimes they're not even aware of their feelings because (at least my dh) does not have the navel-gazing self awareness of what's going on inside. I'm monitoring: am I depressed? bored? what needs to be done, how do I feel about it? blah blah blah self talk. I feel like he just "stuff" it.

Rainy morning here. We're supposed to go to the river later but it will be cloudy. Maybe visit with friends and not stay all day? Explained to dh that I'd like to do some home blessing since dcleaning lady didn't come on Friday.

Dh took ddog out to walking because she was whiny and it was barely raining and a deluge of rain come in. Both were soaked to the skin.

Sky may be clearing some now. Ddog still thinks I need to walk her, lol. And my hip is aching today. Might need to see massage therapist sooner than end of week.

So far, my day off looks like....
** Found and ordered a case for the cell phone I ordered last night
** 4 trips to the garden to get my hourly steps in. While there I took care of the rabbits, watered, picked cucumbers, peppers, and tomatoes.
** Called DS15 as he pulled out of the driveway and explained the consequences of his action. He had a lead foot and the noise of the durmax being gunned got my attention.
** Visited with DD12. She didn't want to go to church. I am 100% okay if she doesn't want to attend church. That is her choice. However, she does not have the option of staying home to play video games instead of going to church. DD12 decided if she couldn't play video games during that time then she didn't want to stay home.
** Made my breakfast smoothie and cleaned up the blender.

Everyone except me is at church. I am in a quiet home all alone. Well, not exactly alone. It is just me and the rabbits, dogs, and cats.
We ended up going for breakfast in what the locals call "the hollow".
Cathy = this sounds like a great place. I wondered if it is called the hollow because it is in a valley between mountains. I am currently watching a documentary type videothat has hollows. They are called hollows because they are little valley roads off the main road.

Slow day here too.

Fingers crossed, I don't have dgs until August 19 (and that will be in a hotel room.)

I took a few hours on the balcony this morning and am still not dressed. I'm working through my toy storage thoughts.

I have a storage area created in the corner of the living room behind an antique wardrobe that holds my candles and table cloths on one side and sewing things on the other. The space behind holds all the bins with toys plus one other bin. And a lamp (plugged into a switched wall outlet.) A shoji screen closes off the open space and the light shines through the screen so it provides light to that corner of the space.

With dgs here, the toys have expanded beyond the available bins and need to be packed carefully. But then the bin has to be emptied to get access to the toys inside. So when kids are here, or coming soon, it is a bit overwhelming.

My idea was to replace the bins with shelves. The space is 30" wide and at most 54" long. But the wrinkle is the long wall has a radiator on it so I can't use plastic shelving just in case. This is an extra radiator that I have no control, it is unneeded to heat our living room but has hot water running through it during the heating season. In the cooling season it doesn't have the chilled water in it that the regular radiators have.

So I've been trying to free associate all morning. Suddenly, I wondered if I could move the items from the wardrobe to storage area and use the wardrobe for the toys.

I've been waiting for a bookcase to show up in the recycle room, free for the taking, but I've waited a month now with no success. So I was going to buy something today and just get the job done. When I was thinking about later uses of the storage solution once the kids were older, I remembered I have two bookcases (very much in use) in the guest room closet. So I could use those if I could find a spot for the photo albums which are on the bookcases.

But I suspect a rolling shelf solution might be better. Move my things to the rolling cart and then put the toys in the wardrobe. When I'm working on the table, I can pull the rolling cart into the dining room and have things handy.

So I suspect I will be ordering one today from Amazon. But first I'll pull everything out of the wardrobe and put in the toys to make sure they fit.

It will be an upside down kind of day. And that will possible continue on tomorrow.

Ds called this morning and I told him how I was looking forward to putting all the toys away for a while and getting to wear dresses. He just sent me a gif with Kitty (from that 70s show) overtop of a group of grandkids and she's saying, "That was fun, I'm going to bed now for a few days." That's exactly how I feel!

Slow cooker is going on the deck with fruit crisp in it now! I did fetch items needed from the freezer.
Recipe tweaks have helped yea!
I have watered in front, rinsed out the bird bath, s2s happened as did a walk.
I talked with dsis while I put items in a bag for a bday this week plus
got another pupa in the stash n dash room and I see even more improvement yea!
They are having church at the bark bc of road work it is between me and the destination a last minute decision was made and they pivoted,
good for those on that side of town, me not so much, I could have navigated between here and there but not clear across town.
I am feeling sme better but decided not to venture out and fight road construction with detours between here and there.
I was considering going to the baptism and then when they left for the building going to JoAnn's for fun and taking my dog but have since ditched that idea. I am glad they could pivot for a plan that worked for most of them in anycase.
I've had breakfast.
-----
Have not thought about dinner yet.
Got dust bunnies out of the pantry from under a shelf yea!
Found the eng to my curtain so I put that back on.
K in C remember they P & P toy rotation.
Did up my dises and got my steps in.

Kathryn - I like your rolling shelf solution. It seems to offer multiple options in ways and places to use it.

I think I'm starting to feel better. Maybe it is just my eternal optimistic attitude that is fooling me, but I know that I feel better than I did this morning. I can swallow without grimacing from the throat pain.

This "hollow" is at the low point amongst numerous hills. The road that goes through is very winding and there are always a lot of bicycle riders. Some who are very serious and a lot of others who struggle to stay close to the side of the road and wobble their way up the hills. It's a very popular area on the weekends and right now Ontario is in the middle of a long weekend.

I've unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher and it's going now. I've also got a large handfull of strawberries and easily twice as much rhubarb bubbling away on the stove. We have just enough vanilla ice cream left for a very small treat after supper. There is less than a teaspoon of sugar in with the fruit and a splash of water.

I've been reading on the bed, but I did not sleep. Dh slept.
