Friday 5 X 5 PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Let's do it today! Five tasks that need to be done anyway, by 5 p.m.

Or optional: change to suit your needs. Make it 4 x 6, 3 x 5, whatever plan you need to be motivated today!

Hi!

I have one project that I really, really want to finish before this day is through. Finish this darn mega-closet behind me. I did some banging and hammering when dh went to pick up his coffee earlier. Now we are waiting for his "9 a.m. replace lightbulb or fuse" to show up before his 10 a.m. "full brake inspection" shows up.

We also have a water delivery today.

We are having hot dogs and beans for supper. (Not my choice.)

It's delightfully cooler today and overcast.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Two of my five:
-grocery store
-finish cleaning up outside refrigerator (should wipe out freezer too)

Not sure about the rest. It's cooler today so I need to start on our screened porch clean up, but I'll be out getting a haircut this a.m. I just had a quick breakfast and should leave in about 20 minutes.

We had a t--storm in the night, I got up and moved plants & table cloth inside and went back to sleep till 5:30 at day break.
Laundry is going now in the dryer and folded one tub of clothing.
Journaling happened & got the deck table water poured off of it.
Rocks got more paint on them starting some designs I luv.
I saw some things on sale that I enjoy at the local market so heading there this weekend at some point.

My plan is to deal with one stack or box of papers everyday or two that will help.
My plan also includes putting mom's quilts pillows etc. on a tote.
As well as moving the pic. in a dresser and I can use that for what I need like off season clothing or ? what ever happens to need a "home."

I have lots of baskets for containers but they are empty so I am rethinking them.
I am using the one cute basket with a handle on it for the dish clothes I'm knitting .
My eldest grand daughter is planning her wedding, I got the impression it is a destination wedding.
Dreamed the I was with my granddaughters having tea and lots of giggles and laughter was happening.

Today is the last triple digit heat day of summer 2023!!!!! I am absolutely ready to say goodbye to summer temperatures. Tomorrow our temps drop 10 degrees to 97 which will feel like a cold front hit. If our a/c was working well it might not be such a trial. The a/c can only cool the house 20 degrees different from outside temperature. So, when it is 107 outside the best I can hope for the house inside to be is 87F. Our plans are to have new a/c units installed before next summer. It isn't a project we wanted to tackle during the middle of triple digit heat because that would mean we wouldn't have any a/c during the project. Some a/c is better than no a/c. I digress from my original point.....I am joyous because it is our last day of triple digit heat!!

Today is my first semi-annual bone density treatment. I have finished a year of the 12 monthly Evenity treatments so now they recommend switching to Prolia every 6 months. I am always hesitant to take any new medication but am holding my nose (so to speak) and doing it. After not breaking any bones after that horrible fall down the 12 stairs, I am fully on board with keeping my bones as healthy as possible. Yesterday I received the results of the bone density test and compared them to the same test a year ago. In 2022 my z score was 2.6 (osteoporosis) then I took 12 Evenity monthly treatment and did the test again. Now my z score is 0.9 which puts me in the normal bone density range. I like seeing the numbers to confirm IRL experience.

I've wrapped DS15 owie on his hand and then he went OTD to work. He is spending the day driving a tractor to brush hog many acres of tall weeds.

I'm encouraging DD12 to speed up her get ready process. She needs to be in the shower washing her hair so we can get OTD on time.

LadyM: you can be my data points when I have to decide about these sort of treatments (not yet mentioned by my doctor.)

As for 5x5, I'm shooting for 3x3 cuz that's when I have to leave to get to dd's for our day there. The grands requested I pick them up from school today.

The car is in for service. I think pulled into a parking spot with ice at the hospital and a plastic underbody shield went over the ice but got broken when I backed out. And we noted this in April but didn't address it until it got really bad (dh thought I was doing it and I was too busy panicking over the fact that he was so ill.) Eventually, it drooped lower and started to hit speed bumps so I handed the problem back to dh. Actually, the car was in for service for a tire change and a brake job and neither mechanic mentioned the shield so I figured it wasn't important but I didn't handle those appointments, dh did. That's the difference between us, I'm big picture so think, "car on hoist for wheel swap, take a look at plastic while it is up on hoist" and dh thinks "wheels need to be swapped."

Dh should be home in time, if not, I'll take a taxi over and dh can come later with the car.

I have spent the morning doing mending so that's my first item.

Dh's sink had rusty water from the tap today. Just the sink, not the toilet or shower and not my sink even though the water shutoff for his bathroom is in my bathroom and shuts me off too. Strange. They were doing work on the 24th floor so we were told to flush for 5 minutes. That didn't work so he called it in again but another 5 minutes flushed it. The sink is running really slowly though and there was a lot of sediment, so he asked for that to be addressed. That's normally something I do but he said it wasn't my job. He doesn't believe his long hair has anything to do with the slow sink so it must be something else. Conversely, I've pulled my built-in stopper and put a mesh catcher in to catch my hair. It makes a big difference in keeping my sink running well since I had issued and cleaned the hair out of my drain. The difference is I can see my still mousy-grey hair in the sink. He can't see his because his is white.

Good morning! I think it will be an accomplishment if I stay awake! My ball team was playing on the west coast, and the game didn’t finish till about midnight. That, and we hit up a game store across town and got a late start, so we didn’t get home until after 10.

Plans for the day include dinner out — also across town — and a stop at the World Market there. I am so sad they closed the one on our side of town. I will have to stock up on green tea KitKats and marzipan. I need to pick up a cake, some shampoo and body wash, and some distilled water. I know that the store that has the cake also has the shampoo, but I don’t know about the water or the body wash. I am apparently high-maintenance; I can never find the distilled water I need for my CPAP, and there is only one body wash I’ve been able to find that doesn’t make me itch in spots you can’t scratch. It may take two stops. Plus more laundry. I think that is enough to try to accomplish.

Yikes! It is already past 11 here, and I should be helping DD excavate her room! Have a good day, everybody!

It's not as perfect as I would like, but the closet is done!

I also swept and mopped the back hall.

Water delivery has been and gone. Faster than usual and now there is water all over the patio. Oh, well... at least it won't become ice.

Dh has gone to get fruit in Niagara Falls grocery store.

I've turned off stereo and it's delightfully peaceful in here right now.

This morning I ordered a new duvet, and a duvet cover to fit. I really wanted a Cal King, but spending that much would be foolish. I have always had a king size on a queen sized bed, but because dh is always hot and prefers his own blanket, this time I got a twin sized one so I don't have to be fussing with it every day. The duvet cover is on Amazon and it's all faces of cats. If you look for it, it's on page 4 or 5 of the twin size duvet covers. My cats will either freak out, or ignore it. I don't usually go for something like this, so it might take some getting used to. My go to is plain white.
