Step Back To See the Big Picture Saturday

Saturdays offer us a different "take" on our weeks. We're less likely to have a rushed day that others have scheduled for us.

Time to breathe, maybe? To step back and say, "okay, what am I missing", or "what did I mean to include", or "how can I join others to get some household hopes and dreams accomplished" ?

How will you be using your weekend to breathe, to step back and remember your priorities? What can you do this weekend that will smooth your way through next week, and the next.

Hi!!

Dh surprised me last night at supper. He said he wanted to go to look at couches/sofas/chesterfields. I told him I was too tired last night. We plan on going this morning when they open at 10. It's very overcast here. I told him I would go on the condition that we get it delivered. I told him that we aren't as strong as we used to be. My plan would be to have the delivery after this coming Tuesday morning so we can take the old couch to the landfill. (Actually I'm hoping the delivery people can take the old one out to the truck.) Dh's end is all out of shape and, to be honest, it smells. Just a smell, not like pee, maybe it's sweat. He always has a blanket over his end, which I wash at least once a month... but still.... P U !!

Pantry end of the shelf is all reloaded, and I moved a couple things, so now it looks even better than ever. All the tissues are now easily accessible and the canning jars are pushed further to the right. It's hard to tell that there is stuff on the other end. The opening can be seen, sort of.

Today I have to dust in the library.

No idea what's for supper.

Happy Birthday Mystery!
Please forgive me for being a day late in celebrating your birthday this year.

I miss Dee. She was so good to keep up on track with SHE birthday and anniversary celebration dates.

This morning started a bit unusual. I am just now able to stop and enjoy my morning cup of coffee.

I go to the garden to get some early morning sunshine when I first wake up. This morning I was greeted by Cletus (male Holland Lop rabbit) as he was running around the raised beds garden area. I glanced at the rabbit cages to confirm it was Cletus and saw his rabbit door was ajar. It took about 30 minutes of effort to get Cletus caught and safely back into his cage.

I took DS15 to the first day of his two day driving school. I can't say I was pleased when a sweet young thing came running up to greet DS15 the moment we walked through the door. This class costs about $50 an hour and I would really prefer DS15 to pay attention and not be distracted. It is not something that I can change so I will have to hope for the best outcome.

DH just arrived home from his monthly men's breakfast. He always enjoys this event. He brought home bacon, sausage, biscuits, and gravy to share.

LadyM, hopefully there's a test at the end so he has to pay attention?

I slept late - until 10 today. Dh is at Torah study and is going to the local college football game this afternoon with a friend. I love it - the wife of this friend is very much like me. She also doesn't want to go! So he will be out from 3:30 on today.

I need less than 2K steps today to make my weekly goal so I'm heading out with the dog in a minute.

Left on the computer last night:

Yes, we keep beer in the outside refrigerator - I rarely drink it and dh can't - but we do have guests. And a bottle froze and broke. What a mess! (I can't imagine green beans in a car, Harmony. Ugh) I cut myself yesterday dealing with it and that was where I quit yesterday. I've at least emptied out all the old very stale beer and will buy a limited amount for RH. We have a couple of guests who like it.

And I got the login to work at the bank for the HOA and successfully transferred a little money, just to be sure it worked. That makes me happy. We get all of our revenue at the beginning of the year when dues are paid, then transfer it out of the money market when needed.

We decided that the furniture store can wait until tomorrow.

I have some Amazon packages on the way today. I put a sign on the back door nicely asking that Amazon packages don't block the door. The last 3 packages have been leaning against the door. One was a case of cat food. It's kind of hard to push a case of cat food out of the way when you can't even open the door.

Dh and I spent some time picking blackberries and I also picked some grapes because they are almost ready and the birds are getting into them. Blackberry juice looks a lot like blood dripping down both of my hands.

Dishwasher has done it's job and I need to empty it. There is a pile of clean laundry on the bed.

Dh "needed" to juice all the apples today. I made some applesauce as well. He put a LOT of lemon juice into the juice. It was already sour when we tested the taste when we started. I put a bit of sugar and some water into the apple sauce.

Dh wants ham for supper. He said he will slice it into steaks and get it ready for the BBQ. He also wants a sweet potato to go with it.

Up at 5:30 just as it was getting light today lovely weather here.

I have done my qt routine & walked the ddog.
Dug a few plants out by the tree roots I will be working on for the next week or so.
Sprinkler is going now so it will be easier next time I am doing a round out there.

Got seeds with permission this week from a gal on my walking route. More kinds of sunnies!

I just realized I haven't had breakfast yet. I did have my snack. Today is obviously upside down.

It is a general stuff swap today and I'll go ahead and get things ready for that. We just take stuff we don't want downstairs and hopefully someone else wants it. We have a book/video exchange shelf but our general giveaway shelves were taken away by the new owners about a year ago. I have a drying rack, some toys, a bowl and I suppose I should do a quick glance around to see if there's anything else.

Thank you for the birthday wishes! I had a lovely evening — a trip to World Market (they were out of half the things on my list, and yet we still managed to fill two large bags!), followed by a very nice dinner that was so filling that our cake and ice cream at home became just cake — no room for the ice cream! DH got me a present, too — I wasn’t expecting a present — books and puzzle magazines. And I got to have cake for breakfast this morning!

We are headed to our dfriends’ this afternoon for a dinner party and games. The occasion is their 25th anniversary, though the other couples invited may or may not realize. The wife, K, said they just wanted to have a nice, grown-up evening with a few of the friends who’d been at their wedding, but they didn’t tell anybody that was the occasion. I just know because I asked my friend what she was doing to mark the date — she also turns 50 in a few weeks. (She’s the baby of the group.)

Don’t know if I will attempt to get much done in the next three hours. Have a good day, everyone!

Happy Mystery Birthday!

Gee, he got you BOOKS for a present - good thinking!

I am stepping back and looking at the BIG PICTURE of things I want to work into my schedule. I'm happy with my focus, but I want to ADD. I want to fill up my weekly chart (clean, declutter, laundry, garden and exercise) with more check marks each week. I want to find time to bake more. So, efficiency needs to be increased!

It's raining here, but I got some potting soil brought in earlier and will do some potting-up inside.
I have some bathroom cleaning going.
A potential cake is on the horizon, either today or perhaps tomorrow afternoon.
This evening, time for prayer meeting.

For later (maybe tomorrow?) I hear rumblings that dd42 received a delivery of some new furniture, so I'll want to see that.

Cathy, that happens to us, too - I got to the screen porch in time one day and called out to the delivery man, "I don't believe I'm going to be able to do this." And he sheepishly came back and lifted the package from leaning against the door, so that I could exit and get to it without pushing it over and down to the walkway. Perhaps he always takes his own household packages in when he returns from work and just thinks everyone who receives packages is already outdoors.
