Dee was always so good about keeping our list updated and reminding us of birthdays and anniversaries. I miss her friendly "fish."
Drat. The cut from the bottle in the fridge has opened up again.
We walked over to a "Free" garage sale in the neighborhood. Mostly Christmas things, though dh found some things to bring home. This is the house where the owner recently passed away - and they have a contract on the house already. I think the daughter of the soon to be new owner lives next door to it, and the granddaughter and her dh and three year old in the neighborhood too.
Happy, Happy Birthday, Mystery!

Re: Step Back To See the Big Picture Saturday
I am back from a few happenings, asked & the neighbors will load and haul off the tree I cut off yesterday in one of their loads.
Today I am on round three of working on the roots it is digging soak dig more use axe look for more roots to cut off. It is soaking again and I've cut off the exposed roots with an axe will have to dig for more. I will stop when I get to my exercise goal for the day and resume later on a diff. day.
Hydration & lunch break now.

Re: Step Back To See the Big Picture Saturday
What are the roots from, Nancy? We had a lot of roots exposed from our Mulberry tree and I'm glad they're gone now, dragged off with the tree.
Kathryn, could your DD just use some Damp Rid? There wouldn't be much to research or much financial cost. It would be better than nothing.
We are looking like rain here, there's dark clouds. I've not done much today, tidied up and did my day's Bible Study. It's sorta hard to get back into that routine. I've been reading daily all summer, read through the whole OT and was taking a little break. It doesn't help that my eyes are a bit sore and reading not comfortable with such small print.
I did sit down though and read my library book. Was thinking since it's such a small sized book it would have much interesting stuff in it. Boy was I wrong! It's a wonderful read.
I put all my donations into 2 garbage bags, ready for drop off. I find if I do that instead of just taking stuff in the bin I want back, I don't have to wait for them to unload everything to get the bin back. I just hand them the bags and go on my way. There is always a traffic lineup at the donation spot anyway.
Guess I should look to dinner.
Mystery, I guess I missed your birthday too. I'm glad you did something fun.
Was nice to see Elizabeth here. How is your foot? Since I've been to the library, I've been thinking a lot about Booksaver. If she ever comes in to read, I hope she stops to tell us how things are with her.

Happy birthday Mystery!! Books are always a good present!
Dh had the potatoes (for me) and the sweet potato (for him) on the BBQ when I got home and the ham was waiting to go on! He's made supper 2 nights in a row! He wants to go to the furniture store tonight but it closes in less than an hour and who knows what the traffic will be like. Right now he's watching a football game. He already watched the Toronto CFL game earlier today.

The plum tree roots are out! Wa-hoo!
That was a job, I still need to get it out of the back yard maybe with a hand truck or wagon or wheel burrow but not right now maybe not even today.
I got the whole filled in too yea!
I have not done much else today but that is okay Sat. is my project day and this was my project.
It is good to have a breather and cool breeze from sitting between 2 fans.
I have a plan for dinner got me a pizza pocket for today at the deli when I was there yesterday that seems like eons ago now lol.
You will never guess what I did with it put it by the fence in the back yard behind the shet to dry out. I cannot lift it but the hand truck worked.
I did not want to have to look at it till I decide what to do with it one guy said it's good wood for grilling, might work i the fire pit but it's too green now.
You now I might need it someday my granddaughter is taking wood art maybe she want to make a lamp out of it.

Re: Step Back To See the Big Picture Saturday
DGS24 came and spent 6 hours visiting with me. I do enjoy these long talks. I made lunch and he said eating Nana cooking is the best. He might be a bit biased.
He brought a gift he found that he knew I would love. I appreciate his thoughtfulness.
Although it was a good time with DGS24, I am feeling the need for quiet to recover from so much social time. It is an energy drain for me to have nonstop conversations.

Re: Step Back To See the Big Picture Saturday
Good afternoon everyone and Happy Birthday MysteryWoman. I got most of yesterday's 5x5s done, still need to put away those LOLs. I did finish the Bible study for tomorrow. I did not find my music until today, so I had better get on that guitar practice! Remembered to call Dad today for his 88th birthday.
In answer to Harmony's question, my foot is fully recovered. Serious arthritis has been found in my right knee and ankle. The exercise program I was already using is a tremendous help. It is VERY motivating because there is immediate, noticeable improvement rather than "you'll feel better in 3 months".
Here's hoping LadyMaverick's DS15 will hang on the instructor's every word and want to impress her with superior driving skills.

Re: Step Back To See the Big Picture Saturday
Nancy fruit wood smells awesome when it burns! We are lucky enough to have a neighbour who has given us apple and pear wood. The apple was amazing! Maple actually has a distinct smell as well which we enjoy. (Maybe it just reminds us of bacon!)
Later... It must be my lucky day!! Apparently, it's "Super Saturday" for the CFL, with THREE
back-to-back football games across the country.
I'm thrilled.
Words escape me at how excited I am.
I'm so glad I'm tired, so I can go to bed now and fall asleep almost immediately.
Is 8:01 too early to go to bed?

Re: Step Back To See the Big Picture Saturday
Cathy: I'm asking myself the same question. It get dark so early here now!
I'm still up, though. I need to read some things before my day of meetings tomorrow.
I didn't get anything done this morning and spent the whole afternoon on the swap. The person who was to organize it didn't show up, no problem, I got downstairs about 10 minutes before it was to begin and tables were being put up by others. When it came time to pack up the leftovers, I went and got my cart. Someone had donated a few dozen cloth bags and I had a couple of A-river boxes so stuff was packed up, dh brought the car around and we took it to the thrift store. I never realized there was an alley behind the store because it is on the basement level. Someone mentioned that on Wednesday and it was simple to drop everything off. I kept the leftover cloth bags and am washing them now. I can use them to deliver stuff to my shut it. I'm using the few plastic bags I have left on him and the second last one went this morning. So I'm glad to have lots now.
Next dh and I went to the new schnitzel restaurant. It was very good. Expensive but everything is today and I far preferred it to another burger. We'll go back. It is about a half hour walk away and there's only street parking so we'll probably walk in the future. After we went for a walk around that neighbourhood so I got my 30 minutes in.
When we got home I settled onto the balcony and listened to the insects and enjoyed the sunset. I'm having decaf tea now.

Happy birthday, Mystery!
We went to a birthday party for a friend today — surprise 80th for one of DH’s golfing buddies. Nice to visit with everyone.,
I also colored my hair this morning.
Just watching football now.
