I have Wednesday meal out of my head and planned on paper now. I'm sure it will change but at least it is easier to modify it when I'm not trying to keep the details in my head. It is a simple menu but cooking any meal the first time for a crowd is a challenge. Once I got the things on paper then I could see it would take little extra effort to offer a choice between baked potato bar and/or loaded tortilla chips.

Baked potato bar and/or loaded nachos
** Potatoes
** Tortilla chips
** Butter
** Sour Cream
** Cheese shredded
** Cheddar Cheese sauce
** Pulled pork
** Smoked beans
** Peppers - sliced Jalapeno and chopped bell.
** Onions- chopped and caramelized
** Salsa
** Ketchup
** BBQ sauce

Now that I have a plan on paper it is just a matter of making sure each ingredient is on hand. I will do the prep on Wednesday.

Looks like a plan, LadyM! Good thinking on potatoes vs tortilla chips and offering options.

Dh and I looked at our list and if everyone shows up we have 38 people. Definitely more than I wanted especially with COVID around again. The weather will be good enough that the screened porch can be used and I'll have a fan going out there too.

I may have hit the wall. Going to do a small rest and reset.

New computer arrived.

It is much faster than the 10 year old one but it is Windows11 and I'm lost in most things.

I have managed to download my password manager and extension and it autofilled my details so I was able to sign into the Village. So that is one thing accomplished.

Now to get me signed into Google.

And now I've signed in from Chrome (plus installed my password manager in that browser.) It is a relief not to be using Edge.

Kathryn — wanted to be sure I wished you a happy birthday, also. I posted really late last night. Plus — my sympathies re: Windows 11. I’ve REALLY got a learning curve, going from XP to 11. I am NOT happy with this yet.

We are at the kidney doctor now, for dh’s appointment.

Also, found out a dfriend passed away this morning. He had some kind of gastrointestinal cancer, and had been in the hospital over a month. He’s a little older than dh, but one of ds’s best friends, a musician buddy.

Dgrands spent the night, and I felt bad about sending dgs to school this as morning. Last night he started throwing up — not a LOT, just more like spitting up/gagging. He was still doing it a little this morning, but ds and ddil encouraged him to go on to school— he had no fever at all — so he went, reluctantly, and ended up calling them and going home at 9:00 am. Sigh.

On top of that, ddil is having a HORRIBLE time since she has been on some new medicine. Stressed out constantly, crying, unable to work. That’s why dgrands stayed with us last night. Ds didn’t want her to be alone so she went next door and stayed with her parents till ds got home.

So they are probably trying to get in touch with her doctor and dgs’ doctor today…’
AND my dmom needs to see her doctor re: hef intestinal issues.

What a day.
I hope I get a chick-Fil-a milkshake out of this. ;)
Tomorrow is another day.

Back from the afternoon knitting group. All I really need to do now is make supper after 4.

There was a very high energy fast talker at knitting today. After spending 2 hours with her I feel like I need a nap! She didn't listen to people very well, though. Got people's names wrong and talked about anything under the sun as long as she was the one talking. She seemed to also think out loud as well. "I need to put this in the garbage and why isn't there a recycling bin in here. I need to find the recycling bin." etc. She left early and that gave the rest of us a chance to talk to each other.

Salmon with lemon and dill, plus hamburgers coming up.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Lucylee: sympathies to your really long learning curve! In my case, I guess I got used to Win10 because I'm missing the way it worked compared to Win11. Dfs says there's a way to make it look more like Win10 so that's my next google search.

My computer was doing updates that needed reboots, so I got the plants watered, did up the dishes so far today and then did the weekly kitchen chores. The dryer should be almost done.

Dh is starting dinner so I need to rush in there and finish putting out the kitchen linens, I got distracted when I replaced the napkins in here and never went back to the kitchen!

Dh called and we are meeting A and V for dinner out then A will come help dh hang the picture. I couldn't nap, my mind wouldn't settle down. And dh called. And my doc sent a script to the pharmacy, which sent a message to me. After my supposed nap, I knew ddog was in but couldn't find her, walked through upstairs and she was in my office sleeping on the day bed there. She won't do that when I'm up there working! What is that about?

I'm going to get these lanterns back together and onto the front porch.

And a little later, that is done, and the pillows on the front porch are changed out to autumn! Surprised it's past 4:30 here. Ddog is already wanting a walk and it's hot here again, nearly 90! I really want some more seasonable weather.

Skype is working now. The laptop camera has a privacy shutter feature so there was no picture on my camera. I couldn't find the software setting. There isn't one, it is literally a physical shutter you slide across, I thought the piece of plastic was a latch for holding the laptop shut!

Dgd had called me which is why got that set up. But it was important because I have a 7 p.m. meeting over Google Meet tonight. Printing off the agenda for that got my printer added (and working!) to this new computer. Woot!

I also switched it to 24 hour time and ISO date because I hate the other. That was a longer process than it should have been. Much longer, requiring a google search.
