Thanks, blessed -- we talked to ds & ddil on the way home from dh's appt.
I asked, "Did ____ ever get to talk to her doctor?" (They were together in the car, with dgrands, and we were all on speaker phone.)
DS said, "Yes. She sees him tomorrow."
I said, "Well that's good..."
and ds said, "She doesn't want to talk about it."
So I changed the subject quickly, but I'm glad she's has an appt right away.

Also talked to dmom on the way home. She is thinking about going back to family doctor tomorrow, but also thinking she might just wait and see if this clears up on its own. She certainly does not want any sort of exploratory surgery, and it occurred to her that that could be the next step... although as we talked, she agreed that an MRI or CAT scan might show more than an x-ray, and perhaps she should ask family doctor about that before trying to see the surgeon who repaired the last blockages.

AND talked to dgs. Pediatrician gave him medicine for acid reflux, so we're hopeful his nighttime troubles will clear up.

Y'all, I've done nothing but ride around through all this, but I feel like it's been a year since we left home, LOL! (It's really been a little less than 5 hours.)
We stopped at Olive Garden and Wmart and we are finally home! I need to do laundry and wash a sink full of dishes but I just need to decompress a bit.

DH and I really liked the nurse practitioner that we saw at the kidney doctor's office. She talked to us and answered all our questions very patiently, said heart doctor and family doctor were doing fine with their prescriptions, no problems as far as creating further kidney damage, etc.
However... she said there are 5 stages of kidney disease... dh is in stage 3B.
She said that sounds worse than it really is, and LOTS of people live YEARS in this stage; dh is a long way from dialysis (which of course was his big fear when this appointment was scheduled.) Their goal is to maintain, they cannot reverse kidney damage.
He will have an ultrasound, more blood work, and provide a 24-hour urine specimen at his next appointment, which is not until November 29. So until then, he is just to continue as he is.
In some ways, it was a reassuring visit, but of course, it would have been better if she had said, "Kidney disease!? Get outta here!"

At the risk of sounding like Cathy's self-centered talker at knitting class... I've just got to take a time out for myself right now.

I do hope your ankle feels better soon, blessed! DH would love those blueberry muffins, btw...

or some of HRH's birthday cake, Harriet! ;) Was that today or yesterday?
Happy birthday to HRH!

Sounds like you're getting things back to more of a "normal" setting for your computer, Kathryn. My problem is mainly with Word. Old version does NOT work with new computer... and I don't want to spend the money for the new version... but it's very confusing sometimes when receiving documents or sending to people. The LibreOffice is supposed to be "just as good" but I'm not so sure about that.
DS has Windows 10 and is also puzzled sometimes with the differences in his and mine. He is a big help, but he says he refuses to upgrade his own to 11.

Sounds like ddog has your schedule figured out, Twins!

Waving to Nancy and everyone else who pops in!

I don't have a 5x5... may not have a 5x10.  I hope to get a little bit of the laundry out of the way, at any rate!
Tomorrow is another day.

little things... :) With only one foot back through the door, HRH announced that he knew I'd baked a cake, with no evidence except his own nose. No, not waiting until tomorrow, wanted birthday cake early. lol. Now that will be the end of sweets until tomorrow, though, when he'll probably have one more piece with whichever of the kids visit first. (fruits in batter and decorating means I usually get healthy shots in there)

(yes, his birthday is tomorrow - he and Kathryn are each one day from the 9 11 anniversary)

I won't need a piece - my treat is that I have a pretty cake on the counter for whoever visits him. I will have a present for him tomorrow, but it's clothing and won't make a very big impression, so I'm glad he sees that I'd still go to trouble for him and sneak to surprise him.

lucylee, so sorry to hear about your ddil's difficulty with the new med. I know you are edgy about your dmother's concerns.
The question of reversing kidney disease is not as clear cut as it once was. HRH is diagnosed in a better stage now, although in his case, of course, part of that was a stringent and demanding treatment for a while, not just diet. He slipped into stage 4 in November, 2018, had 6 monthly treatments finishing by June, 2019 or so, was better but didn't cross the line back to stage 2 until March, 2020, where he has stayed. Has had slightly better numbers consistently on along, even in just his last appt this year. It can't all be the 2018/19 treatments. Tell your dh that if he can stay in the same stage, eventually the rest of the population "catches up" as they age, and he will be considered more "normal". A bit of a backhanded encouragement, but true.

Sunny, that's smart to take the opportunity to get out and get your own ideas of shopping done, on your own.

I'm finally seeing a dip in the vigor of my flowers. I'll try the foliar spray again, but I saw the same look(s) last year and it became inevitable, so, time to admit it's the September fight to hang on, followed by the October decisions to clear out while they're still trying to bloom, or not. If I clear out, I could plant yellow pansies. I did notice mums at the store, but it doesn't take me long to look at such expensive choices.

Tomorrow morning we'll head out to an appt but don't have any other responsibilities out. I wish I hadn't allowed anything to be scheduled on his day - several folks who might be frustrated with us. Hmmm... .. he should message his mother about our schedule.

Harriet: My fuchsia took of while I was away. Apparently the cold nights and less sun were what it needed. I didn't know and had moved it to the sunny corner of the balcony in July because that is also where most rain showers reach the floor of the balcony so it would be watered while I was away. I left it there while at Hay Lake.

It is as if it is a different plant entirely and so I'm sad it will die in a frost in the next few weeks and looked into bringing it inside. That's when I learned about it's need for less sun outside. Apparently it won't do well inside my apartment, too hot and too dry (exactly what vexed it outside this summer!) I might give it a try, though.

I'm considering bringing at least one of the geraniums as well (there are three in the basket from Costco.) They are still blooming too and I hate to just kill them.

Lucylee: LibreOffice is 'just as good' but it is different. I can't imagine, if you have it set up correctly, that you'd hit limits. I did with Open Office (a variant) but that's because I was doing a lot of posters and graphic work. It was fine for spreadsheets.

On the other hand, I do pay for Office 365 but only 1/3 of the cost since I split it with our honorary nephew in Sweden (along with someone else.) I just managed to get it up and running on my new computer a few minutes ago.

My online meeting went smoothly. They were teasing me because I was quick to move a motion, saying that the new computer made it faster for motion moving!

Since then, I've done some cleanup and got Office up. Tomorrow will be Quicken.

I can hardly remember those days when we went from XP to W10. Starting out was hard. We have 2 user names and I could only get into one, simply because I did not know how to switch it to the other user. I called the supply store and he had to turn on a computer and look at it and he told me what to do. I had to teach DH how to do it. I do know it was not as hard to learn as I'd feared. However, I did buy Microsoft office so that I could use all those files and they were transferred over and in compatibility mode. I had the biggest learning curve learning that new version which is way more complicated than the one I had on the XP. Still, I did it and I figure if I can do something like that anybody can!

A couple months ago DH forgot how to switch to a different user name and I had to show him all over again. If W11 is much different I'm not sure how I'd deal with DH's learning curve. He only uses a few things on the computer, but I don't want him losing things in his life until it becomes necessary.

Lucylee, because you do not have that on your computer now, is that perhaps why you lost all those files? If they were M Office ones and you do not have that program, where would they go when transferred over? Just a thought.

Lucylee, I hope your DDil and your DGS feel better soon. And your DMom too. Your "plate" is pretty full right now.

LadyM, maybe you were thinking a lot about that food you're preparing for church, so perhaps you weren't 'just sitting'. We have to listen to what our bodies are telling us sometimes. Course, if I listened to mine very much I might just nap all the time.

I had a rough night, not sleeping well. I was awake at 5:00AM - unheard of for me. I gave up and got up... morning news was heavy. I put on the History channel and watched a program about the testing they did on the 9-11 flag that was flown over the debris field...and that was every interesting and not as heavy. My DMom's funeral was on the 1-year anniversary of 9-11 so this day brings back a lot of memories for me.

We had lunch out with our customer. She seems to bring the old neighbor guy who lives nearby and this time another neighbor from almost a block away. They were in a big thing with neighbor problems not getting along stuff...almost as bad as ones I've seen on crime shows where things escalate to dangerous proportions. Our customer friend has been getting into the middle of it for no reason and it was a whole lot of drama talking about it all at our table today. I think I said when we were working down there how I'd never live in that big area. Now I have another reason to never move down there. It's out of our price range anyhow and in a different town I never wanted to live in. But the food was good - it always is down there - and I had way too much. Unlimited salad and soup at Olive Garden, Lucylee!

Cathy, ugg I hate when plans get changed like that.

I hope we see Booksaver sometime soon. Harriet, BWTG getting the cake done. Funny that he smelled it. Mystery, did you conquer Mount Washmore? I did 3 loads today. Blessed, enjoy your time with DDYounger. I hope your leg gets stronger, too. RRose, I'm glad you're feeling better. Sunny, it does sound like your household is all busy with lots of changes. I'm so impressed those ladies changed their time just for you, that's so nice and I'm glad it all worked out well.

Ok, time for bed.

Thank you for the encouragement, Harriet, Kathryn, and Harmony.
Harmony— you’re exactly right — that is probably what happened to my documents, nowhere to go.
Bit OTOH, that doesn’t explain photos. They were mostly all jpg files, so.., ?
And anyway, I still think the guy should have backed up my files to a thumb drive or something.

Oh well. Live and learn.
Tomorrow is another day.
