Sunday Celebrations

Two different batches of spaghetti sauce are bubbling away on the stove. Dh's has hot Italian sausage, regular meatballs and ground beef in his along with garlic, Italian herbs and spices, fried red onions and fried onions in his. Mine has everything except the sausage. The pasta will be penne by request.

I also burned all the small pieces of wood that was in the larger of the 2 trailers. Dh will need that trailer soon to tow tires around the backyard to the shed from the garage and back to the shed. We store tires for a few customers. A lot less than last year and the year before. He's been asking a lot of customers to store their tires elsewhere so I won't have to deal with them sometime down the road.

It's a gorgeous, sunny day here with no wind. The wood smoke was going straight up the entire time the fire was burning. I love days like this. I was sitting out on the patio at one point when the fire was just starting. Dh and I finally took the motherboards out of the 2 computers we are disposing of. Dh also took other parts out, but I don't know what they are. So now that mess is out of the house. The only thing I will be donating will be the speakers. My keyboard was having an issue with at least 2 letters, so that is also going. (D and S)

Hi everyone! I had 3 surprises last night, 2 horrible and one good. Bills and budget started off dreadfully, where did all my money go? Why was nothing going like I expected? Dealt with it, reshuffled budgetary items and removed some things I had planned but were no longer possible. I was not happy, but it worked and there would be no borrowing from savings, just a very skimpy next two weeks. Then I discovered I had not recorded AN ENTIRE PAYCHECK!!! That will affect your budget for sure! Fixed that and my next two weeks look much better. My neighbors delivered the horrible news. Neighbor #1 told me her husband has been given 6 months to live. I am particularly fond of this couple. Neighbor #2 said that last week her husband had seen a gray cat that had been killed by coyotes. Ruth is technically a tri-color, but is very predominantly gray and I have not seen her in a week. Today I saw a squirrel eating the cat food. At least coyotes and cars are a non-lingering fate for a street cat. In better stray cat news, one of the organizations shyer cats found a home Saturday. I am keeping an eye on White Socks's eye, she may have an infection.

I am starting my Halloween countdown. I sent out the first invitations and will make a list of things I need to get done. I was thinking a sexy Grim Reaper this year.

The first set of essentials are done: guitar practice #1, invitations, RV club minutes.
Essentials to do: guitar practice #2, animal org minutes, exercise, draft Halloween plan and start the cleanup portion, repair bubble fogger.

CI After dinner I ate a bit early. Dishes are done and put away now.
I put something in the shed that I had been putting off.
Feels great to have those things done now.
We had some winds, and red flag warnings north of us no sirens thankfully it's been a quiet day.
Got the area I dug weedy herbs out of raked watered and picked up a few things out side.
Started a dish cloth i"m knitting another start shaped one.

Hmmm ... .. lucylee, you don't seem to have much time, and the time at which you don't have much time isn't the time at which we are used to seeing you. Hoping none of this means your days are difficult, and that there is some good info and a wise plan for your dmother?

It has been hectic today, but no more so than any other Sunday, really. Yesterday, I must have been completely exhausted, because I slept sooo much.

But re: dmom... well, they sent a culture to the lab and today, she found out she has a staph infection. Now, whether that is what this was at the very beginning, 8-10 days ago, or whether a run-of-the-mill infection became a staph infection after she arrived at the hospital and began getting poked with needles, etc... of course no one knows.
It's not like she hangs out in dirty environments (like football field houses, notorious for staph) a lot -- she goes to the beauty shop, Wmart & a smaller grocery store, and church. That just about does it. Drug store. Bank. But she is not a social butterfly just going about everywhere constantly. So... I don't know.
The nurse told her at least now they can use more specific and stronger antibiotics to treat this. She has no idea when she will come home -- it is still draining from her navel. Yuck. I know that is TMI. I have not even LOOKED at it, much less been in contact with anything. Of course, dh said it is VERY contagious and all I would have to do is touch something she or a nurse/aide/etc touched, and I could have it also.

Anyway, dgd and I were just pulling out of the driveway this afternoon, and were going to go see her, when she called to share this news, and she of course said no, we didn't need to come over. As much as she would love to see dgd, she definitely didn't want her with her compromised immunity to be in a hospital room where there was staph, and she didn't want me to come either.

We went on out to her house, got the mail (I think I should do that at least every couple days) and then went to Wmart.

Time with the dgrands was like always... a roller coaster of them playing together nicely, helping so nicely at Wmart and unloading the car, putting away groceries... and then WHEEEEE... screaming at each other... time outs/time apart: "DON'T TOUCH HIM AND YOU, DON'T TOUCH HER. DON'T SAY ANYTHING ELSE TO EACH OTHER." I was exhausted by the time we ate supper -- out -- where they got my order wrong.
We just took them home. DDIL being on medical leave means I do not have to do bedtime/school drop off in the morning.

And now that I have lost my excuse to be running back and forth to the hospital, dh says we should at least make an offer to dcousin, "You are welcome to stay with us, but you'll have to use this main bathroom, because the one in the guest room has a leak in the toilet and we haven't had a chance to Call the Man with all this other going on.
DH doesn't think he will stay at this point anyway, but who knows...
DH doesn't WANT him to stay, because DH is having a terrible time with his gout flaring up. He didn't even put his shoes on to ride over to Next Town for supper. (He carried them with him "just in case we have an emergency.")

At any rate, I probably should do a little more spiffing up around the house. Whether anyone spends the night here or not, both dcousins will probably spend some time here tomorrow afternoon, because at least one thinks he will arrive around 3:00 pm, and dbil will be in court till at least 5:00 pm. Then we will all go out and eat supper.

Different topic --
What do you think would be a good birthday gift for my aunt who is turning 80? I may have mentioned there is a surprise party for her Thursday night. I know she would not expect anything (even if she knew she is having a party) but I'd like to give her something.

Forgive me for rushing off like this -- dh wants the computer.

(Lucylee) for DAunt, I'm sure she would not want to fuss with anything much at this point, but maybe just a little flower arrangement, or if you know there's anything she likes to eat like assorted nuts or candies; or does she use hand lotion or something like that? I'm not 80 yet, but even at my age I don't want anything more that makes more clutter. I am glad they have a good plan for your DMom.

Well, usual Sunday around here. I was surprised at church today. Our Pastor does not stand out back shaking hands with everybody; we are crowded out there to begin with and there's not much time between services for people to get in and out. But he goes around the sanctuary and speaks to just about everybody he can. Usually with me it's just a hello how are you. This time he told me he'd gone outside and talked with DH who was outside greeting others, and we talked about our time having Covid and how very sick we were. He said when he and his wife had it (different variant back then) they were very sick like that too.

Speaking of variants, I watched a dr. interview yesterday...he said the new vaccine they'd made is completely different than the ones before, not a booster of any kind, but it was made for a variant that only is affecting 3% of illnesses right now. They did not even make it for the one that's affecting most people now. Their thought was that this way people will still be getting sick, and that leaves the window open to require a new vaccine in another 6 months. ...sigh..

After church I went to department store and tried on every pair of sandals they had in my size and color. Why so many black ones? I wanted light tan or bone... and a lot of them had no size 8's. I haven't had a nice pair of sandals for a couple years at least. My other ones that I loved dry rotted after having them a couple years. That took a while and I never did find anything I could use but while I was there DH called a couple times, wanting stuff at the grocery store. I had just been there 2 days ago. Put it on the list, I'll get it when I go next. I hate going shopping every other day. But I stopped on the way home and got 2 of the 3 things he wanted, couldn't remember the 3rd until I got home...but it was something we shouldn't be eating anyway.

- Kitchen is back in shape, dishes washed and put away
- Guest Bathroom s/s
- Vacuumed under the guest bedroom windows where ladybugs always seem to commit mass suicide
- Did allergy shots
- Emailed church secretary re: prayer requests today
- Ordered new church pants for dgs, one size up, * 16 Husky for this 11 year old. He is chunky but not really “fat,” and definitely not among the biggest boys in his class! Where do people buy clothes for a boy this size??? I tried to take his measurements but I think he was puffing out his tummy. I kept getting 36” waist, but if that’s right, the 16s won’t fit. He wore 14s to church this morning. Sigh.
- Also ordered Little Golden Book for dcousin’s baby shower I’m helping with. Mom-to-be requested books in place of cards, and I found “Football with Dad” and since my cousin, the dad-to-be, is a football coach, I couldn’t resist.
- Looked at gift registry but will talk to dmom and ddil before purchasing on this part.

Dgrands’ room is still a wreck, and there are no sheets on guest bed, but tomorrow is another day.

The day is almost over. All that is left is to pack my stuff for tomorrow. I may have to drop White Socks at the vet. Maybe not though, she is getting better. I just sent off the animal org minutes and a few other emails I needed to get done. Other things done since my last check in: more guitar practice, DD's room and part of hallway done for Halloween, LOLs partially put away. Good night!
