** Beef fajitas are cooked and ready to eat. It required lots of slicing. Two steaks were cut into strips. I lost count of how many peppers were sliced up. Only 2 onions were sliced and used because that is all that could fit into the big cast iron skillet.
** Homeschool with DS15 continues. He only needs gentle nudges to keep him moving forward from lesson to lesson. Mystery use of the idiom “Slower than molasses in January” caught my attention because we are working our way through a book about Idioms. Today we are discussing Beat your swords into plowshares, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and Bed of roses.

I slept in till 6:15 had a great qt journaling planning session.
Got the washer twins are going.
Had my bfast.
Fed ddoggo who's waiting for me to get in gear for a walk.

I have started dinner to reheat later the oven will warm it up just enough in here.
Got some items to use for decor out of the basement for fall not much but it's good to give it a bit of a fresh look. . .
Swept the kitchen dining traffic areas & hall.
Noticed I did not wash up my plates last night added some to them got them washed up.
Trash has been picked up at the curb got the can in.

Had lunch.
Picked up the mail.
Walked dog.

The company just called me to let me know the part has been ordered and they expect it within the next couple of days.

Supper will be either eggs or soup or grilled cheese. I would like some French onion soup.

Hello. I've been taking a long break here. Think I take more long breaks than long work sessions.

Went with DH to dentist. He came out smiling, glad to have his permanent crowns in and said he had a couple jagged edges around the temp ones that they fixed and everything is smooth. I'm glad he is happy he did all this work. I tried to make the appointment for his deep cleaning...it's been a long time since he's had that done. But we are getting into snow bird season and a lot of people were calling for appointments...so his new appointments are stretched out way past what I would have liked. But she says she will keep him in mind and as soon as something is cancelled she will pop him into that slot. I hope she can do that as it is way too long a wait. When these 4 appointments are done he should be seeing to his knee. I tried to give him my cleaning appointment and put my own off but she wouldn't do it, said she didn't want to get mine off schedule. I wish she had.

Stopped at GW up in that town (our building is still closed up here) and dropped off 2 big bags of donations. 1 of clothes, 1 of household items. I don't even remember what was in those bags so it won't make any difference to me. Another layer of the onion.

He said he'd ride along while I went to pick up Rx at the farthest pharmacy I go to. He hasn't been in this store for years probably. He took a walk around inside while I got waited on, and he agreed with me that it was too expensive to buy anything there.

On the way back up through town we noted all the buildings that have been built, torn down, changed, remodeled, and how different it all looked. Between him not remembering stuff and the changes down there, it was like riding through a different town. Filled up his pill boxes, 3 weeks done.

I guess I'll see to dinner. I'm making a big meatloaf and roasted potatoes. I need to do some cleaning around here soon.

HRH's friend called and asked how to make "my" gnat-catcher (fruitfly catcher). He just couldn't understand what I meant by cutting a funnel from paper, so I shared this youtube, which is not perfect, but gets close. (this video guy doesn't bother to cut the paper into a circle or cut the high parts down, which doesn't really matter I guess, and uses white vinegar rather than ACvinegar) Anyway, I was helpful with old-timey household tips.

Mystery, our kids are close, yes, but our extended families, many of whom do live around here, are hidden (swallowed?) by the press of people called "growth". So, seeing a relative somewhere at a dr or shop is quite an event. A few decades ago, we saw each other often. The 2nd cousin I saw yesterday has moved within the same town, he says, and I'm not sure where he was talking about. Also, he is widowed and I hadn't heard. Sigh.

"Homework needed in the morning, Mom!" does this never end???
Well, I've actually got to go! Sitting here, ds calls and the fire dept is having a get-together and part of the entertainment is everyone trying to guess identities of their co-workers from childhood photos! That's so wholesome, BUT he forgot to ask his mother for one and needs it TOMORROW. He has one in mind, because if he can take one in which he has lots of hair, he will be almost unrecognizable to his coworkers, of course. All the men have nearly-shaven heads all the time, so that fitted face masks will be tight against smoke.

I have had such a lazy day here. I've been reading for most of the day.

I did take 2 bags of garbage outside. I also did 1 kitty litter box and took the composting stuff out to the bin. I also washed out the kitchen garbage can.

Success and fun. Between the two of us, HRH and I found the photo quickly, along with another in which ds had even more hair. Ds and dgdC came over to get them, with her hair still wet from her shower (ddil makes each child shower at the end of their school day to hopefully avoid contagion, no excuses). Of course, HRH insisted they look at old photos with him for as long as they could stay. We found such treasures.

Ds was delighted when he and I discovered an old photo of a children's play I helped direct at church when dd43 was the right age to be among the dozen or so in costume. (Ya'll, I did so much church work. ) Another fire chief with whom ds often works was near her, in equally embarrassing childhood costume, as was his older brother, also now a first responder of some kind. Ds snapped his own photo of that one instantly and sent it on to his friend, embarrassing as it was.

Okay, I'd better get back into gear along with Cathy because it's trash day tomorrow. Move it, move it.

I had a good workout - I always do. I'm always glad that I went but I do dread it some days! Afterward I needed to take dh shirts and some dry cleaning to drop off. While out I went by the post office and checked HOA P.O. box.

I struggled all morning - really until I left for workout - with writing checks for HOA. I simply cannot figure out this very new version of Quickbooks. Except that there was another bill for the HOA in the PO box and I got home and knocked it out with no issues. Some of the problem is that I only need to write cks every other week and my memory is not holding up well enough to remember what worked last time. I think the software has been dumbed down so much it doesn't make sense anymore. And Intuit wants accounts to interface with their bank and invoice electronically and accept payments through Intuit so they are always offering to start doing it that way. I need to write a few checks, invoice HOA dues once a year, and keep a set of simple books.

Anyway, I had hoped for some genealogy time today but it doesn't look promising.

Dh came in early to reboot to go to bowling and yacking to me. OY VEY.

Got a couple more rocks painted with base coat.
Have stuff out of the dryer and folded it and in process of putting that away now.
Got 4 points on my star dish cloth only 10 more to do.
I put the dead rattlesnake at the end of the street by the field away from my house. Yuck I used my stick with a hook on the end of it!
Someone saw me do it and turned around with their dog a good choice.
I did a bit more fall decorating with my fun thrifted finds shop at home is great to use those items.

Home from pickup up DD12 from school.

When DH arrived home from working cattle he asked if I got to have some quiet time this afternoon. I wish. I did have about 20 minutes. It just is not part of this phase of our life.

It has taken a flurry of calls and paperwork searches but everything is done. We sign final papers in the morning at 10am to sell the land. DGS15 is not especially happy that we are selling it, but none of our kids want to do anything with it. We have owned it for about 5 decades and haven't live on it in about 4 decades. It has been available but has been just sitting and not being used. There is always maintenance to be done with ownership and we don't want that responsibility anymore. DH and I have no guilt about selling it. We are relieved to have it off our things to take care of.

We have a chance of tennis ball size hail this evening. DS15 is busy moving his boss many vehicles (>20?) and equipment to the fairground to put everything under cover. When he finishes that he is going to help another person load and move their new outdoor furniture. I moved the rabbit cages to a protected location.
