It's actually autumn now, or spring where Lynnlee is.

What's going on this first, fine Friday of fall where you are?

I am having a hot tea and some rice pudding.

Just in case you missed it, Kathryn checked in from her vacation location. I'm sure if she is outside right now, she has long pants and long sleeves.

Supper tonight? No idea at the moment.

...

Just had dh tell me to go grocery shopping without him. He's waiting on a delivery of oil filters.

a good thing for me today yea! I spiffed the bathrooms last night before bed & early in the a.m. is good to have done.

I have three not usual items for groc. list the rest is things I usually get.
Goof qt today setting up a work book instead of ordering one I could not view the pages on amz.
figured it could not be that hard to do up a work book. I was right.
I have a booklet size journal I can use as well unlined so I will have to deal with that.

It's been cool and raining and like some one turned on the switch for fall.
Sweaters and hoodies are seen as I go about my day now.

finally fall is still a surprise for me! the yard still thinks its summer. I am working on shutting it down.
it would be so easy to ignore the calendar and just look at the weather. I know before I know it the temperatures will drop.

Well hello hello!

I am sorry I wasn't here yesterday - I have been fighting a sore shoulder and I became very cranky. lol I love people even though I am an introvert but even I didn't want anyone chatting with me in the neighborhood.--- grumpy old lady- who? (I am yodeling that sentence)
My mother can yodel and makes me smile. I even bought her that yodeling pickle and she loves it!

hello d Nancy I am glad you are able to get some things done inside even with the rain outside. I know we have had 4 days of rain after having months of drought. The animals in the woods seem happier.
I hope the booklet works out great.

hi d cathy enjoy your tea and rice pudding.

hello to everyone.

I have a dr. appointment to view my break to see how it is healing/healed.
Listening to some classical music. Sometimes I will listen to fall music or fall centered programing.

time for me to get to work
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Cathy - Thanks for the start today and reminder to enjoy this fall season. I absolutely love the cooler temperatures. Our temps are in the 90's (97 today and 99F tomorrow) which isn't as cool as many are experiencing but it feels amazing after those weeks of triple digit temps.

I enjoyed CUOP from yesterday.

Thank you for the suggestion about gall bladder pain. I do wonder about it but had only eaten a sweet potato in the 12 hours before the pain started. I thought gall bladder pain was caused by eating fatty foods.....but then I'm definitely not an expert. My mother's death was hastened by gall bladder failure. I would happily have mine removed if possible. I will be watching for gall bladder troubles.

I reviewed what I have been doing differently over the past several days to find a clue what might have caused the pain. I have a possible cause. I like to change locations in the house and recently switched from sitting in my favorite recliner to sitting in a rolling office chair at the desk. Instead of feet up body stretched out relaxing I have been sitting in a straight chair with feet dangling. As I thought about it more, I realized my posture has slipped and I tend to sit with shoulders hunched over. It causes my rib cage to collapse into my well-padded abdominal area. I need to sit up straight with shoulders back when I am in the office type chairs.

PODA -
** DD12 virtual school
** DS15 working.
** DS15 follow-up 1pm appt with family doctor. We will get the results of his lung testing. I am 99% sure that DS15 doesn't have asthma but he thinks that he does. We will see what the test results show.

Planning -
** Kitchen deep cleaning - pull out refrigerator and stove. Deep clean behind, sides and underneath them.
** Garden fall cleaning - remove at least one of the remaining tomato plants and cages. Dispose of the 8' tall tomato plants where they can help discourage weeds next to the outside of the fence.

Cooking -
** Two trays of roasted vegetables
** Pork country ribs with potatoes and onions
** Red Lobster biscuits

There is a steady falling of leaves outside my window. The colours aren't amazing, one red tree, and the rest (birches) are thinking of turning gold. But the majority of trees here are evergreens so the colours here highlight the green. When I was having tea this morning, there was a pretty regular dropping of pine cones probably being knocked down by the chipmunks. (The other side of Algonquin Park has more hardwood than this side, so the better colours.)

My first night here was the coldest. According to the forecast, each night will become warmer. The days remain between 68 and 70*F, but sunny. I'm afraid long pants will prevail for the whole stay, along with shoes/boots and socks and probably sweaters.

I turned the heat down to 60 last night because I was too hot the night before. I'll do that again tonight and take off a blanket. I'm still not sleeping well at night, not sure why but I woke up too hot again last night and again, as the night before, around 4 a.m.

I had a 'coffee' with the previous owner of this cabin this morning. She and the current owners are off to a far-away funeral today and return on Sunday. As she said, that makes me "in charge". Tonight I'm the only one on the properties (6 cabins, the lodge and two homes over the two properties). Not sure if anyone is coming in to the other short-term rental cabin tomorrow. I'll find out when the current owners drop in with all the phone numbers.

My dinner tonight will be soup, salad, and grilled cheese sandwich. Lunch will be yogurt. My bran muffins are working too well so I cut out my fiber pill this morning. Veggies and crackers if I want a snack. Thus, meals are planned.

My work is laid out on the bed, all sorted, and I'll start in on it now.

LadyM: gall bladder symptoms can come and go until the final, definitive, attack. I don't recall really 'bad' food prior to the attack that ended me in the hospital. A few weeks prior I had an attack in the night while in Nashville and that might have been triggered by BBQ. It passed on its own, though, only for my next attack, over a week later, not passing.

Good afternoon! It is not noticeably fall here; today’s high is expected in the mid-70s, then for the next week, the high is expected to stay around 70. Which, I suppose is a far cry from 85 or 90, but equally far from 50 or 55, which feels more fall-like to me. At any rate, it is pleasant, and I will take it!

Still running slowly. We were out way too late last night. I had planned an evening in, watching the ball game, which was actually on broadcast TV, but friends were hosting a game night. Unfortunately, the game the kids were playing went long, and it was a half hour drive home.

I need to do some payroll work today. I probably have less than an hour to do, but I shut it down the other day because one of the parts was thorny. One style was used here, another there and a third one somewhere else, and I have to make them all the same, which means first deciding which of the three is best — or whether to go with a fourth!

Kathryn - your stay at the lake sounds wonderful. I try to imagine what sights, sounds and environment you are experiencing. It sounds like a dream come true to me.

Speaking of imagining ....DD12 says she does not "see" imagines in her mind. She has been researching and consulting with Dr google and has come to the self-diagnosed conclusion that she is autistic. She has given herself several online tests and shows me that her scores confirm her self-diagnoses. We will be discussing this at her counselor appt next week. DD12 wants to pursue getting the official autistic diagnosis and other DSM labels. I don't understand that. She is uniquely wonderful without having labels attached to her. Although I don't understand why it is important to DD12, I am honoring her request to pursue being tested by professionals.

As smart as DD12 is, I was surprised that she does not know how to use or understand a paper-based calendar. We have had paper calendars hanging on the refrigerator for years and it has all our appt and events. However, DD12 doesn't naturally understand the spatial usage of squares to represent days of the month/week. I found that interesting. This came to light when I gave DD12 a paper-based calendar/planner for her to put stickers on after she completed her daily exercise minutes. She is resistant to learning to use paper calendars because she doesn't see the importance when digital calendars are available. This is another item we will be discussing with her counselor next week.

TADA's -
** All cooking is done.
** I pulled 3 large cucumber plants up in the garden and have those vines taken care of. They seem to be a bigger challenge than doing the tomato plants so I wanted to tackle the hardest first.

It's confirmed I'll be alone on the property until Sunday. The owner brought battery lanterns and the next door neighbour so I could meet here. Plus a whack of phone numbers. My cell service is dodgy but the lodge has a landline and is open all the time. Plus the lights will be left on in the lodge and at the empty cabin so I'm not all alone in the dark here. I have a park pass as well, and will go there for hiking on the weekend. That way, there is someone monitoring trails.

I'm off now for an afternoon walk. Ideally it will be for an hour but we'll see how well I do. The hills here are killers so usually I get tired by 20 minutes into the walk, knowing I have just as many hills to manage on the way back to the cabin.
