Meaningful Monday

Post by Harriet »

What's meaningful to you today, to pause and reflect upon?

Have a good fast to all who fast and all who observe with them on Day of Atonement.

Planning the week and trying to be intentional is what's happening for me. I continue to hope to get past the "fires" that need to be put out, and then past the routines that must be kept up, in order to get to the meaningful progress. I prepared my planner for the week last night and have high hopes.

Harriet - Thanks for the start today.

Free Covid-19 tests are back! Starting Monday (Sept 25), households can receive 4 free rapid tests through USPS again. Order here: COVIDtests.gov. Shipments will start Oct. 2. They also give extended expiration dates on previous test kits.
I have no clue about how other countries are handling covid test kits.

PODA -
** DD to/from public school.
** DS15 homeschool to include
** Gym
** Music studio
** DH is teaming up with other church family to mow the church & pastor yard. I think it is about 3 acres so will take some time. The person who normally does this had a heart attack.

Food prep -
** Roasted sweet potatoes and onions.
We have an abundance of ready-to-eat food so I'm not planning to cook anything else today.

Deep Cleaning/decluttering -
** Kitchen - Spice cabinet next to the stove. Three shelves stuffed full. Everything in the front gets used almost daily. I wonder what is in the back of the shelves?
** SUV - Wash outside of vehicle. Declutter and vacuum behind 3rd row seats.
** Garden - remove one plant that is at end of its growing season.
Stay curious. Challenge assumptions. Success loves persistence.
When life gets difficult, learn to sing & dance in the rain.

Oh, thank you, LadyM. My ddil probably already knows this through work, but the other children will be interested. Dd43 and her dsisil always test several times up to the dates of their family visits because of the dsisll's little boy's vulnerability, so I'm sure the info on this will help.

So sorry to hear about the heart attack news in your church family. Maybe with several volunteers it won't take long to handle the lawn.

I saw an interesting new herbed recipe for roasted veggies, but by the end of the video so many oils had been used (yes, multiple, and multiple times) and so much salt, that I realized I'd have to remake it to suit us and it might not be worth it. (Also, I'd have to tell HRH there was eggplant in it. lol!). Still, adding some new tastes to our standby cooking would be fun!

I had planned on planting garlic but it POURED! not sure if any seed/bulb could handle being planted.

I am trying to stay on a bit of a routine. Working on positivity as I am finding myself being frustrated because I fall behind so much these days.
I like turning things around but I am not there yet.

I think I am a little nervous bc dd younger and d mom are coming back home for a month. Will the house disappoint them both. Will I disappoint them bc I am moving very slow and not at the top of my normal energy since I broke my leg/ankle again. Sitting in a wheel chair made my arms strong but the rest of me weak. Everything seems overwhelming. I have to remember the joy and hope they accept that I am not who I was in June.

Okay I have to turn this around.
pulling my morning routine card (9:25 am Yes I know late but I am taking the first step ;) )
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Good morning! Pardon my not having CUOPed.

Had a pleasantly late morning. DH’s school had Open House yesterday and so is having an inservice today with a late start, so when the alarm went off this morning at 6, I asked if I should turn it off, and he said yes. Squee! (Of course, Nancy and LadyM and probably several others of you will think I’m a piker to consider 6 am early.)

It is reasonably warm here but gloomy. I am hesitant to open my front door for the ventilation because they are working on the roof across the street. OTOH, DD is telling me about everything she’s reading on the computer, so it’s not like I have any peace and quiet going on.

Wishing Twins an easy fast and everyone a good day! I am going to steel myself to face the payroll work. This is the second-last document of this series and refuses to be as simple and straightforward as the others.

Hi!

There is a grocery store that always has free test kits where the cashiers are.

I went to 1 knitting group this morning. Now I am at home for less than an hour and then I'm off to another knitting (craft) group.

No idea what is for supper.

Nancy, I hope you do not have Covid. I think you would be sicker than you are...but some do not get many symptoms I guess.

My office chair broke again for the 2nd time. I left the parts that fell onto the floor and a note for DH and rolled the chair away from our desk so he would not sit on it and fall backwards if he leaned back. This morning he got a different screw/bolt - something that had more room in it to attach. The old one was at the extreme end of it's threads and easily dislodged if one leaned against the back of the chair. This one makes the back of this chair very stiff and hard; it's ain't going anywhere now! Not the most comfortable thing I've ever sat in, but at least it's not broken. I think it's 25 years old! We got it when we first got our computer and set up that desk... this was before he pulled one out of a dumpster somewhere and brought it home for me to recover and him to redo and fix the hydraulics. That's our other chair back here. :P

Our 'dumpster' chair has pink and purple velveteen fabric on it. I used what I had at the time. We're colorful, at least.

Kathryn, I was wondering: if you do take that house like you're contemplating (sounds wonderful to me) would taking the car up there leave your DH without transportation if he needed it? I know you have other ways to get around in your city, but a car comes in handy sometimes. I wish I had a nice place to get away. I vote you try this at least once!

Yesterday after church and my shoe shopping on the way home, we went to the beach. We got drizzled on a tiny bit and left when it began to be harder. We didn't get much up here but last evening there was a lot of lightning and a little rain. We are 92° right now.

I am working on my study which is 3 days behind.

Mystery, don't consider yourself a slacker. After 4 days of getting up early (for me) I slept in today and got up at 10:00! I guess I'm the slacker.

Dinner in the crockpot. I'm making sauerkraut and pork and I'll make mashed potatoes this afternoon. Sorry, Twins. I wish you an easy fast and for sure enjoy your break-fast.

Ok, back to it.

I've not CUOPed - I'm coming back through at home in the middle of the day. The kugel - noodle pudding - is in the oven. I may nap a bit, this is a long day.

Dh was out of the house before I was this morning; we took two cards. I sat on the bimah or pulpit again this a.m. for cemetery committee. Last night dh and I were there with past presidents. We will break the fast at temple around sixish probably. Somehow I thought this a.m. I had a part at the beginning of the service so I was stressed about getting there on time.

I should straighten up the kitchen some - not sure I will. Ddog just headed to our bedroom so I do think it is nap time.
