Interesting fun facts: there are flamingos who have migrated a long distance up into North Caroline (Rare) and some way up in Wisconsin (very very rare). They are migratory birds but do not migrate long distances. One of them had a band on and his leg and this group has been identified as having come from Yucatan Peninsula. They think possibly storms have caused this. The Wisconsin birds may need help getting back down here. There's nothing like being at home, even the birds!
So it's been grey all day and we keep waiting for drizzles but they haven't come yet. 88°, lower than it's been. There are still systems developing out there. So far nothing coming at us. We were out looking at our palm trees. If they got knocked down they could hit the front of the house and DH wants to take them down. When we moved in they were pretty short, we had no idea they'd grow this tall. Man, I'd hate to lose these beautiful palms, but looking out the office window here, they're scary big now. sigh....
I've been working on my study off and on all day. In between, I've been doing laundry. All caught up now with 1 load outside drying.
We have leftovers from last night's dinner to eat and last evening I made a cherry pie. So much for limiting sugar. It sure is good though.

Re: Tuesday PWYC ta da!
Home from my workout. My right hip flexor and quad have been hurting to the point I felt I couldn't lift my knee to go up a step. The trainer had me try to some things to loosen it up, then we focused on upper body for awhile. I went by the temple to pick up cemetery stuff.
I'll head to my body work in about twenty minutes.
ta das:
-before I left I reconciled cemetery account for August and updated my spreadsheet. Found I made an error when I sent a financial statement to the cemetery board last month. I'll probably send a statement for the July-Sept quarter and I'll send corrected June 30 schedule then. I have cemetery paperwork I need to get together with the correct month and file away.
-workout, especially since I didn't want to go
-trip by temple for cemetery paperwork
-earlier straightened up our bathroom (put away make up and hair dryer too)
And I left this sitting when I went to body work. The hip flexors and quad and hip are still achy, we'll see if I get some improvement overnight!

Re: Tuesday PWYC ta da!
Brownie update; about 2/3 rds of them came out okay the rest stuck to the pan more pam needed next time.
They tasted great I"ll freeze some.
I used the Duncan Hiens milk chocolate milk as I like milk chocolate the best.
I did follow the directions mostly this time except for adding 1 T. cream or souer cream to the water, oh yes I use butter instead of oil.
My sis does not like the mixes bc she does em better from scratch. I do not do brownies from scratch ever except the two times I tried in my 20's when they flopped.
[__] <- help your self brownie pan. They are unfrosted. Dgd likes hers with caramel sauce for teens that are active and burn off lots of calories.
Safely walked today with out my walking stick totally forgot about it.
Napped a bit b/c I got up so pickin' early 4:00 a.m.
I need to add some weeds to the can.

Re: Tuesday PWYC ta da!
Posting when only one-half caught up today.
Trying NOT to just "raise chickens on paper" today as deliveries of supplies and materials for the quilt I'll be making have mostly happened now, and the drafting, puzzling and planning is a lot. I'm studying.
I'll need to figure ways to keep early cut parts of this project separate and safe out-of-the-way, as later parts should get cut in order before first ones are sewn. Some practice with the new ruler I've bought is also recommended, and I'll probably do some since I'd rather make my inevitable mistakes on other fabrics rather than any hard-to-find ones.
Practically, I've done more decluttering re: my computer desk, which of course occupies part of the sewing room, too, and seeing clear surface space will make me feel virtuous and clearer headed.
If Twins' has freshly cut zinnias in the house, then all's right with the world.
blessed is cooking French recipes, too. That's also an "all's right with the world" thing.
Twins' a difficult (heat) night of sleeping found me on the couch a while, so then hip woke up complaining.
Nancy, I find that some recipes that use boxed mixes in them but add other ingredients can be really good.
bbl if brain holds out

Re: Tuesday PWYC ta da!
No, blessed, you don't wish you had MY energy -- I know you get more done in a week than I do in a day.
It doesn't take THAT much energy to talk on the phone, and that is basically all I've done.
I got up this morning and took some rx cough syrup -- I've been fighting a cough and sore throat for a couple days -- and I'll take some more when I get ready to go to bed. It bothers me a lot more when I try to lie down. After all those phone calls and the errand to pay the plumber, I sat down and read some more, and finally just pulled an afghan around me and closed my eyes. I was freezing to death. It's supposed to be 74 degrees in this house, but I just felt so COLD.
I admire your quilt-making skills so much, Harriet. There is NOTHING that feels as good as a heavy cotton quilt made by one's grandmother.
That is kinda sad that the flamingos may be blown off course by the storm, isn't it, Harmony? I guess they'll get back on track eventually.
EVERYONE is eating so good tonight... homemade jelly... brownies... cherry pie... my goodness, y'all!
DH had KFC and I had leftover pizza from last night -- which was VERY good, btw... we went to a restaurant we don't usually go to, and they make their pizza in a brick oven and it makes the crust a lot better than the average chain restaurant, IMHO.
DH and I are speaking more cheerfully to each other. He admitted he knew no way to fix the pay-the-plumber situation either, and said, "It just is what it is..."
DS said he and dgs were going to the Jr High football game tonight, and that makes me happy. They don't get to go to a lot of Friday night high school games because of ds' travel (and our travel to College Town) so it's nice for them to do something like this. My cousin coaches the JH team also, and if dgs decides to play next year, this is the team he will be on. They are playing a big county rival tonight for some sort of championship.
DGS has also been practicing with the Scholars Bowl team the past several Mondays, so I am very happy to see they finally got that started again -- last year, they lost their teacher/coach, so it took a while to find someone willing to take it on, I think.
Well... off to the ironing board.
I really don't dread this like I used to -- I always have something to watch on tv, and dh has weeded his wardrobe down enough that I do it more often, but it will take less than two hours. It used to be an all day thing!

Re: Tuesday PWYC ta da!
Went down the rabbit hole with that card file but I did purge a bunch of miscellaneous stuff from it crafty type ones with quotes mostly.
That felt good to let go of quite a bit of that yea for taming the paper tiger progress!
Way overdue on the counting it for my Anti P. task this week.
I wiped off the deck rails after the rains today and the deck table.
