I can't believe I forgot to post what's for supper. Penne with spaghetti sauce and meatballs. I don't like penne, but dh does, so I make it for him.

We both napped this afternoon.

I went to a book sale this morning instead of my usual knitting group. I only bought 5 hardcovers. One was possibly for dh, and I showed it to him when I got home, and he liked the fact that I picked this up for him. (A book about Tie Domi, a hockey player.)

Happy anniversary LucyLee and "Sheldon"!

There is a blurb on the news regarding Covid and handwashing again. I haven't noticably heard that in a while, so I guess the numbers are up.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

I'm home from my last thing of the day.

While cooking dinner, dh had texted that dgs has a cold. I responded "Hah!" and ds reminded me I have him tomorrow. I knew I had him Friday, I forgot Friday was tomorrow.... anyway I texted back that I was OK having him here as long as I could still come to the wedding if I had a cold.

After I cooked the meat part of dinner, we walked over the pub for time out with residents. It was lovely, we stayed just under an hour, walked home, heated up our dinner and I made it to the church on time for my 7 p.m. activity.

On the way there ds texted that TG is sick enough that she's staying home from her shift so I won't have dgs after all. I'm relieved, more because the highway is closed for the next 4 days and so our drives to/from the hospital to drop him off would have been stressful. On the way to the church, I drove by a closed on ramp even though the highway wasn't to close for a full hour. On the way home it was closed so I took back streets through an industrial park to avoid the traffic and had clear sailing but only because I turned off the official detour road just a quarter mile before the official detour began. The backup was over half way to where I was turning off already and it was only 8:20.

So now we are basically "in" for the weekend. At times traffic will overwhelm our neighbourhood so there's no guarantee we can get the car back home if we leave, we'll just stay put and walk everywhere we need to go.

My afternoon walk and talk was with a young adult Israeli who apparently just wanted to talk. He had no update to share on his planned temporary move to London which was why he had wanted to talk originally. I suspect he just wanted to talk to another person IRL for a bit since he is taking the news from home very hard. He spent time last night helping a neighbour of his father's get him all set up on the IDF app for his phone. The father is older and doesn't always hear the air raid sirens. Now he'll get the warnings on his phone. That was the sort of thing he really wanted to talk about. And doing so in the fresh air and sunshine with the beautiful fall colours was probably the best thing I could have done for him.

I'm heading towards bed now. Dh is still watching a movie. He had his third shot in a week and is feeling tired (he had flu last Friday, Covid on Monday, and Shingles today.)

I'm glad I've gone back to mostly mask wearing in public. I got to the church to watch a video introduction to a new tranche of hymns being released and to try singing them. The music director told me she is coughing up phlegm like crazy and has a fever, but there she was, running the activity tonight. I was sooooo thankful I had my best quality mask on. Still, I'm not feeling 100% but suspect a lot of that is due to the very busy and stressful week.

I'm taking advantage of having tomorrow off by turning off my alarm and I'll sleep as long as I can (although since I'm going to bed early, it might not be too late.)

Good night all!

Kathryn, stay healthy! You have been very busy and stress never helps our health.

Happy Anniversary to Lucylee and DH. I'm sorry DGD has psoriasis. That's a nasty disease and I've always been thankful I just have eczema and not that.

My rash is a lot better, but I'm obsessively careful to not wear anything twice and keep up the washing and ointment routines. It's making a difference but for some reason I've been extremely itchy yesterday and today. Places that never have bothered me before are itchy now. Sigh...seems like I can't win.

I finished my study today for tomorrow. Plan on stopping at store on the way home but the list is short this time. I will get a couple of those little round batteries for our garage door remotes. We stopped at auto store 2 weeks ago and also got a new battery for the opener but for some reason it's not working well. I think we need new remotes. We have an extra one for the house gar door because DH had one in the truck he sold... but that one isn't working well either. We don't have a new battery for that one so I'll put one of the new ones in there. DH ordered a new remote which will be in tomorrow and he has the garage door man coming tomorrow afternoon to check everything. We tried everything first ourselves, then after much discussion and a night's sleep, DH agreed to "call the man". Let's hope it's not expensive.

I don't get a lot of stuff done these days, but I figure if I get one project done every day, that's good. Along with morning and nightly routines, cooking and all the cleanup, grocery shopping too, laundry and put away, that's a good bit. Today I got the bathroom and living room floors swept as I brought in a lot of grass from today's project.

Yesterday I got 2 houseplants repotted into something bigger. I bought bigger pots than they were in and I just love how they look now. It was a messy project and I was surprised how long it took. Today I cleaned out the front flower garden. That False Heather plant took over again and spread everywhere. I've already chopped it back and removed a whole bunch last year, replanted it to another spot in the back, where it ended up dying. So I tried it again, watering it in good. I trimmed stuff and remulched and it looks a bit bare in there but I can see shoots from the Asiatic Iris and it is spreading so that will fill in. It was hard work for me, up and down, and I'm not able to do that kind of stuff easily any more. I pulled out some grass roots around the outside that were crowding the edging and in that process I stabbed my left thumb with the tool I was using. It really bled and now I need a clean bandage.

Gotta jump in shower...have a nice sleep everyone!

Thank you all for the anniversary wishes! We had a nice night -- although I hope we did not tease ds TOO much about getting older. Forty is kinda a big deal, but we didn't do anything like black balloons or anything.
DGD was so thrilled to see her cousin. I've told y'all before -- cousin is the one doing residency in Texas for medical school. We don't see her much. She is VERY petite, and even though she is 28 I think, she could easily pass for 17. She and dgd look like age-progression photos side by side. She's just kinda the perfect role model for dgd and dgd is crazy about her. DGD read a whole Little Golden Book to her and dniece just acted like she was hanging on every word.

Getting the house back in order now.
Have to send another church email and then I think I can call it a night.
Tomorrow is another day.
