Today, tell us something we don't already know. Here's mine: I'm a sucker for Keven Costner baseball movies. Dh is watching For the Love of the Game and I've gotten sucked into watching it this morning. OTOH I've straightened up the kitchen and am getting the day underway.

Today we have a wedding of my d niece and my new to be d nephew! (in law) -
yesterday mom felt better and came here for the afternoon and dinner. dd younger took her home and made sure she had her meds.

Something you don't know: lol - I talk a lot so I am not sure there are things you don't know.

When I was young teen to older teen; I would go fishing in wilderness of Canada ((((beautiful))))where we would have to take a water plane to get to where we stayed. It was a small main building which had a small area for tables and a room with a junky comfy couch and two chairs and a fire place. The lodge had an amazing woman, Hilda, who bake fresh bread and meals for us on her wood stove. She was an amazing cook and such a lovely woman. There was also about 8-10 very small log cabins *(bunk beds through out) and one freezer house area (that my dad ran into, one time, when a black bear chased him) and one area for trimming the fish that was away a bit for the cabins.

my something you wouldn't know - I used to have to climb over beaver dams to get from one part of a lake to another. and we had to portage to different lakes (over small trails from one lake to another). I forget the oars one time and my dad made me go back and get them. I was afraid of bears and on the trail near a small water fall there was not bear scat- on the way to get the oars I forgot,(by myself) there was a fresh big pile of bear scat! I will say I got those oars and slapped them together as I went on the trail back to my family on the other lake. I must have been a sight!

Mom and I got chased by loons when we took a break on a small island. we didn't see the nests along the one side of the bank.

*if I didn't want to go fishing then it was my job to clean up the cabins including the ticks on the beds (I have no idea how a grown man could not know he had ticks on his bed as they were right there).

-----------------------------I have decided to order mom breakfast instead of making it. I don't know if I want to spend the money but It will be easier than making her a breakfast this am.

Good morning Twins. Blessed, what a fun story! You certainly have some great memories! Twins, I just recently watched Field of Dreams. He was in that, wasn't he? I'd never seen the whole movie so I enjoyed it. It was a week or two ago.

What don't you know? Not much, I'm afraid. How about this: I grew up in a big city, our home being on the northern outskirts of it. I walked to and fro to grade school every day, about a 15 minute walk, and we came home for lunch too. I surely got a lot of steps in when I was a youngster. Highschool was a big city school and for the first several years I got there on an orange streetcar. I loved riding the streetcar. It did bounce up and down a bit but not badly and the conductor pulled a string that rang a bell, that was his horn. Pittsburgh got rid of the overhead electric lines and tracks and there were no more streetcars. We had busses then, but I remember hating them because they swayed and the gasoline fumes made my stomach upset. We used to take the streetcar when I was young downtown to go shopping in all the big department stores. We wore hats and gloves to church and the week before Easter, DMom and I walked up fifth avenue to all the hat shops and tried on hats. I was not afraid to travel by myself into the city. I used to take a streetcar downtown to a big building and go up an elevator to the orthodontist who checked my braces. Sometimes we would go downtown with our neighbor and her 2 girls. We shopped around, went to lunch together in Stouffers and then to a movie. Sometimes she would take us to Oakland to the big museums. Or the planetarium. It was quite the time we had growing up!

I did not have to watch out for bears. Or loons!

This morning I did a big PUPA, most of it in the kitchen. There was a lot of odds and ends to do. Sorted the battery box and the extra vitamin box. I wiped all the scissors in the drawer, I just figured out why they were always sticky. DH cuts apart the bananas when I bring them home and puts them in the fruit bowl. He uses those scissors. I filled my little kitchen jar with paint thinner and got the label goop off of something I'm going to keep. Everything looks company ready...but not expecting any company! It's just for us and I love how it looks.

1 LOL ready to hang up. Another to wash. I need to pay 2 bills here next.

Today, tell us something we don't already know

I have more failures than successes. I tend to put my focus on what I am being successful in doing instead of what I am NOT doing. For everything that I do accomplish there are many many MANY things that are being ignored. I am a successful failure.

I'm loving reading these things being shared.

My 1st hour of the day -
** In garden to watch the sunrise.
** Spread a 5 gallon bucket of pine shavings in raised bed #2
** Used blower to clear walkways & curbing
** Hourly steps done
Reward - Enjoying that first sip of coffee

2nd hour of the day -
** Plan the day. Create 3x5" cards for things I want to do today.
** Create playlist on amazon music for LKC Hymns. Youtube wants to force premium. I am resisting. So I need to find alternatives to youtube. Instead of using yt to play music I will use amazon music.
** Personal AM cards. (bath, hair, face, teeth, etc)
** Push mowed to get hourly steps accomplished.
** 5 gallon bucket of pine shavings spread in raised bed.
Reward - Singing favorite hymns

3rd hour of my day -
** Made smoothies for DH and myself.
** text from mechanic. DS15s Duramax pickup leak is fixed. Total cost is $1347.
** DS15 Is getting boss pickup and car hauler. He is returning the 67 belvedere that he has sitting in our driveway. I had given him a deadline of yesterday to either get that car fixed or return it.
** Weedeating until battery went dead. Battery onto charger.
** Spread 5 gallon bucket of pine shavings on half of Bed #5
** 3rd of 14 hourly steps accomplished.
Reward - feet up in the recliner. Still sipping my cup of coffee. It's a good thing that I like cold coffee.

I slept in till nearly seven this morning dreamed of putting something on boots to keep bugs off!
So happy that I brushed off the fire pit blocks it looks great this morning.
I can eat breakfast soon as I cook it & decide on meals for the day.
Having more coffee now.
I'm learning how to journal my way to a better perspective via yt & saw a book I'd ordered a while back and now have a a much better way to
utilize it now.
Dd was talking about how she did dgd's hair for home coming to practice ahead of time.
I gave dd half of a sweet potato and I peeled and cut mine to cook later I sliced it up.
I have a zucchini to use it is big!

D harmony, I remember wearing white gloves to church or for really special outings!!! (oh and short thin white socks with ruffles with black patten leather shoes). For our church, you either wore a little black doily thing on top of your head (bobby pins) or wore a hat.
it's funny how, as youngsters, we could go in the big cities.

Growing up, I lived in Chicago, near the lake in the Andersonville area to then in Edgebrook, with my family, until dh and I got married. I met dh in Edgebrook at the grocery store he worked at. . I haven't lived in Chicago since.

We were outdoors all the time. We were always sailing on my dad's old wooden sailboat that needed pumping out every time we sailed which was at least once a week, skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, canoeing, being in the woods on trails, fishing in duck boats once a year up north and spending time in the country at my aunts house; I have been out doors most of my life until I broke my ankles and leg. My mom had a home up north in the middle of a large large woodland area on Lake Michigan that we were at almost all the times the kids had off.

I have to laugh because dh does not like the outdoors at all! There isn't a drop of outdoor blood in him. Good man and our core values are the same but far from anything I grew up with and loving.

Yes, Harmony, Kevin Costner was also in Field of Dreams. The other is Bull Durham. By the time I grew up we had busses here, not streetcars, but I did go downtown with my grandmother in the bus at times. She didn't drive, rode the bus to work and home every day.

bw2, I love your camping, hiking, canoeing, sailing stories. I grew up outside also - we had a camper that went on the pickup truck. We did a lot of hiking and swimming.

LadyM, I also love your blocks of time. You really so much done between family, church and community. Don't sell yourself short!

Guests were delayed in ATL so running later than expected. It's all good. We have a reservation for dinner at 7:45.

I guess I can see why "things you don't know" gravitate to our youth! Ya'll had fun! I have never even seen a beaver dam, and only the paw print of a bear. I have never ridden on a streetcar, but have seen them - certainly never knew anything about the conductors. Like blessed, I wonder if there's anything you don't know about such a talker as me.

You may not know that I was a puppy whisperer. Preteen to teen, I wasn't allowed at the dairy much but worked at my father's kennel. We had AKC field trial beagles, so all the adults were on a rotating schedule of getting to go with my Dad on long treks. The breed had lost a lot of ability to catch prey centuries ago, but they trail in a fascinating way and that's what they're judged on at trials. I worked cleaning the concrete runs on the outside - very glamourous. Inside each run I brought particular meals in the evening, depending upon age, whether anyone was pregnant, etc. We mixed these ourselves in the kitchen/office space, according to my Dad's opinions. Back at the house, my mother took care of newborns if there was any problem with the birth or if they were sick. She brought them back from near-death at times.

But the job I could do better than anyone was keeping all my Dad's beagles from developing the worst threat to their happiness and ability, which was fear of people, skittishness or being "shy". Not gun-shy like retrievers, because beagles might go their whole lives without hearing guns. But because they are small dogs, they can have a real fear of new people. Many of my Dad's friends would be heartbroken because a dog who acted confident and happy with them would freeze up at the trials where they should have been happiest, and have to be taken up from the ground, shaking in fear at all the voices. My Dad and I figured that if they grew from babyhood with people-adventures, they wouldn't be scared.

So, from shortly after the time they could open their eyes, I had the daily after-school job of "handler" to our puppies, many months before the usual "handler" occupation happened for most beagles. I cuddled them close, talk-talk-talking, and they got the scent and sound of humans. Their mothers were used to me anyway and I always brought babies back, so they put up with me. Within a few more weeks, my Dad would give permission for the entire litter to be carried to the lawn because they would stay with me fearlessly by then and "learn grass". I would bring them new smells, make them little obstacle courses for no reason except fun, and shower them with kisses whether they were good at anything or not.

I tell you, it was a hard job, but somebody had to do it. My Dad never had a shy dog while I was their pre-handler. And they were smart, too (my father always denied that I did that part). His dogs even wagged their tails when new judges carried them away from my Dad - no problem.

Okay, now I've told that story and I wish I had a beagle puppy!

Ah, well, I have a tuxedo cat, don't I?

I must go and try to have more successes that failures today, LadyM!

sink cleaned well, dw front cleaned, dishes from last night emptied, more dishes and dog dishes are now in dw running. stove cleaned, dogs not played with but are up and have been out many times.

next clean out microwave, sweep floor again (dd younger washed it last night)

I told the story of my er & life experience to a friend we laughed over our common experience.
Walked ddoggo who did not get the sweet potato dear daughter got it raw. I sliced my half raw and peeled and froze it.
Got yt vids. scheduled till 11-7 so am ahead of the game saw lots to get today it was lovely and sunny out.
ddaughter gave me lites and I plugged em in and they flash clear or a array of diff colors I was happy to see em!
Now thinking where they will go differently as I thought they were not flashing and solid & white like regular lite bulbs.

Washer twins are going now.
My cross over ring fits my R. hand ring finger so that works the blue one on the other hand middle finger.

No pressing or sewing has happened yet. I do have a bag to put the lights in.
I also have shirts to paint on or make into market bags.
A bag to paint on lots of creative options today.
