I'm surprised I'm the only one here so far, but I'm sure everybody is hard at work on something.

Re: SHOW-AND-TELL SATURDAY
So I haven't stopped since I got up. First thing I did is knock my glasses off a pillow down in back of the bed. I had to pull the bed out and I began 'mopping' the floor with my big dust mop, got my glasses back and a lot of dust bunnies. When I have time I will do the rest of the room.
1 LOL out on the rack drying. Dinner is in the crockpot, took a while to get that together. Dishwasher emptied. A couple bills paid. Papers organized, filed into notebooks, and calendar sorted out for appointments. I found an appointment card on the bulletin board that I couldn't find on the calendars... but I think it was from last year. This one they neglected to put the YEAR on it so I got confused. Took bag of garbage to the outside bin. I washed out that bin and it's out drying in the air. Smells better in here now.
I usually don't let that happen... I have my day's study to do and that 1 large statement to figure out and write checks.
I think I need a break. Thinking of Twins out on the river today and Lucylee making that trip and am keeping you in my thoughts for safe and fun time.
Ok, BBL.

Re: SHOW-AND-TELL SATURDAY
I think I've gotten a lot done, without anything much looking different. Laundry is now in the dryer. Dishwasher is going.
Bathroom and kitchen garbage have been emptied. Counter top compost bin has also been emptied. It smells so much better in here.
Sylvester got another mouse in the house last night. I'm thankful I had paper towel in my hand when I saw the leftover bits. That's a huge part of why the kitchen garbage got taken out. Baby and Sylvester got a larger one outside just before I went outside with the garbage. I am so thankful we have cats that hunt.
We had bacon and eggs for breakfast at home.
We don't usually have bacon in the house as much as we used to.
Spaghetti and meatballs for supper tonight.
I have knitting this afternoon.
It's windy and sunny here today.

We got our first frost. Saw it is going to be in the south by Mon. my sis in Ark. says be safe you all &
do the winterizing things. I still have to put sandbags in the back of the truck. I do not have or use studded tires
I just stay home.
Got the trash dumped this morning.
Had coffee qt & planning & journaling done.
Two loaves of bread are raising now.
Self help book I read most of for the writing prompts at the back of each chapter is ....
High Performance Habits by Brandon Burchard
He is on you tube and teaches most of it there but there is just something about a book with pages that I love.
Found a hard back one for $2.50 thrifting yesterday yea!
Similar to the info. I was trying to find on web search writing prompts.
Thanks for your insp. gals.

Re: SHOW-AND-TELL SATURDAY
Trip is next Saturday — Nov 4. Bought a parking pass online last night, fairly close to the stadium, and today, after phone call to “vivid seats” — FINALLY got it downloaded to my phone. Whew. I actually shed a few tears last night when I kept having trouble with that, but I’m okay again now. Says it’s a 2 hr 18 minute drive.
This makes it all worth it:
Dh told dgs that his daddy was going to be working next Sat, and dgs’ face just fell. Then dh said “but Nana’s going to take you, if you don’t mind going with her…” and dgs lit up like a Christmas tree and gave us two thumbs up.
So we’ll make it fine.

Tomorrow is another day.

Re: SHOW-AND-TELL SATURDAY
We are predicted to get out first freeze Sunday night. Yesterday we were running the a/c, today it is in the 50's and tomorrow it will drop below 32 with feels like of 22F.We got our first frost. Saw it is going to be in the south by Mon
SKIPPABLE GARDEN CHATTER -
I have been scrambling to get the garden harvest finished. It is not going to happen so I switched to prioritizing which vegetables I will harvest and which will be left in garden to be frozen. I haven't counted but I expect there will be over 100 fully ripened bell pepper frozen. This year has been a bumper year for all the pepper plants. I have given peppers away so frequently & consistently until family and friends are not interested in taking more of them. My freezer is full of more chopped peppers than we can eat this winter. So....sadly the rest of these gorgeous peppers will just be composted.
Sweet potatoes galore! I have been harvesting (and eating) sweet potatoes for more than a month. However, I haven't even managed to harvest 1/4 of the sp patch. There are so many! I grow two kinds - regular and purple sweet potatoes. I am partial to the purple ones because they are so pretty. The regular ones look pale when put alongside the purple. Both taste the same to me, so it is just a visual thing.
I pulled and cooked beets today. Instead of cooking them separately I cooked the beets and the greens together. They taste very good to me so I will be doing this way of cooking them in the future.
Radish, beets, pak choi are coming up in the garden. They are about an inch tall. I have thick mulch surrounding them so I am hopeful they will survive this first freeze. Our temps return to the 80's next week so the tender young plants should have time to get better established if I can get them past this freeze. They are cold hardy so I typically can grow them most of the winter in the garden.
I just checked our forecast, and it shows us dropping below freezing (feels like) at 3am Sunday and staying below freezing until 10am Monday. I didn't realize the freezing temps were going to be for that many hours. I usually can protect when the freeze is a couple hours but I'm not feeling positive about protecting tender plants for 30+ hours. hummm...

Re: SHOW-AND-TELL SATURDAY
LadyM, isn't there a food bank who would take some of your vegetables? If I could grow vegetables like you do I would be more motivated to do more gardening. I can't get amounts like you are. Our soil is just sandy with not much nutrients. Even when I put composted stuff and manure in I struggled to get much produce. Up north I had bags and bags of tomatoes and peppers and green beans, corn on the cob, lettuce, cauliflower, etc. My little garden has been taken over by the sweet potato vines. I am discouraged with gardening here. We made our garden 1/4 of the size it used to be because it was becoming too much work for me to manage. At our house before the last one I had a nice big garden. We had a covering frame made from pvc pipe and we'd cover it with plastic when it started to grow cold. That first year I grew lots of stuff but I think the soil was too poor to support it a second year. Over here I tried to make compost, saved all my scraps, etc. but it attracted all sorts of critters I didn't want around so I gave up on that. I don't know how people do it around here, I just can't.
Going to try to get some more items marked off my list here.
Oh, so Lucylee, your trip is next week? I'm glad your DGS is happy to be going with you.

Re: SHOW-AND-TELL SATURDAY
hello hello
I am so sorry I am late. I was up most of the night bc I just could not fall asleep. Happy but couldn't fall asleep so I took a nap from 10 to 1:00
I hope you all had a wonderful morning!!!
mom is home having a good time cleaning closets - I still don't know what there is to clean - she is immaculate and has minimal.
we will have to check on her to make sure she did as she said - her meds and eating the food dd younger and I brought over.
Hello d harmony!
I think you can look at Epic gardening - I am pretty sure he is out of Florida. He has a big you tube following!
have a great day! thank you for starting us!
hi d lady -
I am sure if you had time you could have your church or the pantry send kids/volunteers to pick things for the food pantry - it's probably too late to get volunteers before it freezes.
I haven't cleared out my garden yet and haven't planted bulbs or my peach tree.
Tomorrow we are supposed to have a frost as well. I figured, we enjoyed the bounty and Jack Frost is saying he is ready to frost the garden.
I bet the beets.are good! have a great day!
hi d Lucy! yay on your trip coming! glad you were able to download the seat on your phone.
oh how neat that your dear grandson is so excited. have a great day!
hi d Nancy! do stay safe!
oooo I bet those loaves of bread will smell wonderful when you cook them.
how nice to find that book at such a reasonable price
have a lovely day!
hi d cathy
yay on the work! you know its done even if you don't see it right away! good for you!
It is nice to have cats that hunt. we had a great mouser who lived until he was 22. We didn't have mice or chipmunks!
Ivy is now the only cat, caught a mouse and put it in the middle of the dining room table
it was a gift to me.
have a great day!

Re: SHOW-AND-TELL SATURDAY
I was out of the house around nine this morning to go to the river. Dh went earlier to help set up food, like he does on Saturday a.m. at temple. The boats started coming by around 10:30 maybe and there was a steady stream of them on the river (over 800 registered) for well over an hour. Spectacular and amazing. We hung out after for a long time and I came home around one and napped. Dh has been napping and watching football, off and on.
It was overcast and comfortable this morning, now the sun is out and temp is 84 and we do have a/c on. The high tomorrow will be close to today, then by Tuesday the high mid fifties. Lows down around freezing but I doubt we will have a hard frost just yet.
I'm going to need about 1500 more steps today to get to 56K for the week. I only walked the dog one lap this a.m. She wanted to go a few minutes ago so we went around, she may get another trip around the circle.
Didn't do much this a.m. except for s2s, walk dog, and assemble the 7 layer Mediterranean dip so I have some kitchen clean up to do still. Also will do some planning for the week but the rest of the day is lazy.

Re: SHOW-AND-TELL SATURDAY
I was on my way home and dh texted me that he was going to pick up a bucket of fried chicken... we had already discussed having spaghetti and meatballs. Any way, it looks like we are having fried chicken and cold fries and cold salads. The closest KFC is in the city 20 minutes away from us, therefore the fries will be cold by the time he gets home. This from the same man that thought I was going to knitting on a Sunday. Sigh...
