Magnificent Monday!

Post by Kathryn-in-Canada »

SNOW!!!!

Our first snow of the year.

It isn't sticking on the balcony but has covered lawns and roofs. Not sure dgs will notice. We can't go play in it because I don't have cold weather clothing for him, it was in the 70's when his parents packed.

What magnificent things are happening in your corner of the village?

Sorry I've been missing in action. I try and stay off the computer while dgs is awake and I'm getting lots of sleep as well so I have the energy to deal with him. So no time for the computer. As well, yesterday arthritis hit both wrists hard (probably the change in weather combined with using them for physio exercises and lifting dgs who is now 28lbs and doesn't always want to be lifted.

Quick catchup.

Friday was a 'normal' day. We went to the park, we played, we had pizza for dinner. He slept well. I slept well. I also managed to keep up with dishes, duds, and being dressed. It was still decent weather but in the 60s not 70's.

Saturday was dh's day to leave. We went for a walk to the store in the morning as it was still warm enough. Then after nap, we took dh to the airport but parked and went inside so he could see the planes on the tarmac (not decent views but good enough.) He also ran and ran. And had coughing fits after doing so. I had to fight him into the car seat after because he didn't understand we were leaving dh behind. We had McD for dinner, home, play time, video call with parents, bed.

Sunday he slept until 7:30, so was down for 11.5 hours. We had a playing morning but some tv as I started to feel a bit off and needed the rest. He went down nicely for his nap and I got the apartment reset but he didn't go to sleep for a full hour. Dd arrived with her kids just after he was quiet so I met them in the hall and then ushered them into the office. That gave them a bathroom, the office and the kitchen to play in. Dgs slept for 80 minutes, then woke up slowly. By the time he was up, the other two were in the bath playing so he joined them.

Then it was 4.5 hours of running around and yelling and playing and having fun with his cousins. He didn't eat at dinner and wouldn't be quiet either, so I put on the TV for him (continuation of the Miss Rachel we started earlier). When his cousins left he wanted to go to so brought me his shoes and when I wouldn't put them on him, he threw them at me and screamed in frustration. After he settled he ate some dinner as I cleaned up the dishes, then we read a book 6 times, he went off for a moment, came back to get his stuffy and blanket and pulled me into his room and indicated he wanted to go to bed. So he went a full hour early.

He woke up at 5 (after 10 hours) and I changed him, gave him a bottle and he fussed a little, then settled. He's still quiet, now over 13 hours since I put him down last night.

I've had tea and chocolate, emptied the dishwasher and drainer and am debating getting dressed. At the very least, I should strip and remake the bed, it is Monday, my housework day. The apartment is 'busy' with things out but very tidy. I do a reset on it every time he goes to bed so that I don't risk tripping over things.

He coughed a lot yesterday but only after running. He was coughing at 5 so I need to think about steaming him. His nose is a constant tap as well but he's good about it being wiped.

We can't go out and play because I don't have warm enough things for him but in a pinch (or if I'm desperate to get outside for a bit) I have a wool sweater dh's mother knitted for dh which I keep here for the children to wear if they need something warm. And I have one pair of mitts knit by my mom for ds, thermal socks, extra large shoes, and a rain suit (from dd's hand-me-downs) to put over all that to keep wind and moisture out.

Morning …

Did my morning routines, Went to class, came home and made breakfast.

House blessing today. I’m only taking 1/2 of my pill and it seems to be working. I’ll know better after I start my work and have a better idea of my energy once I get started. We’ll see what we shall see.

Kathryn… sounds like you are enjoying your time with your dgs.

Nancy… did you get any snow?

Kathryn - You have been missed! I enjoyed reading your doings.

I'm short of time this morning but decided to sit down and take a break while drinking my smoothie.

DD12 was delivered to school while she shared that she has depression. Then she listed many signs of depression that she has. We didn't have time to discuss it in depth, so I don't know where this is coming from. We will discuss it more after school.

Question - If you feel depression coming on what is most helpful to do?

DH, DS15 and I went to the gym and had a good workout.

DH and DS15 will be leaving in 30 minutes for the music studio lessons.

I am heating up my biggest pot with water to cook pasta to make mac & cheese for a funeral meal. I will be leaving in less than an hour to serve famiy/friends a meal after the service & cemetery.

One reason I'm excited about daylight savings time ending is that it's easier for me to get up when there's light outside. I wasn't up until eight this a.m., as dh was leaving for work. I've s2s-ed, walked ddog two laps, and am finishing breakfast.

Dfriends M and D, down the street came home from Europe on Saturday, both with COVID. I'm going to go pick up R uby now where she was boarded, and drop her off at home. And then have body work at 11:30.

Whoops, never got this posted, it's now 11:20, I've picked up dRuby and got her home, and I'm coming through to put on a jacket on the way to body work. Decided to make soup tomorrow - some to take to dfriend M and D. I'll go to grocery after body work. Would have been good to combine grocery w picking up Ruby - same direction - but I know they were anxious to get her home with them.

I'm home from funeral prep. Tables, chairs, table clothes, centerpiece decorations, napkins, silverware, serving tables for food, drinks and dessert are all set up. All the food is ready to serve. There are 5 volunteers to serve food and cleanup which is more than enough. I decided that I could be more productive by coming home and getting things done here.

It is a cool 34F but with no wind and bright sunshine which makes it seem pleasant outside. I'm not whining today about the colder temperatures. Maybe my body is already used to it?

I have three rows of 3x5" cards laid out ready to guide me in my doings.
Ready...set....go!

No snow here we are 750' above sea level here I can see it in the mtns. on my walks now.
We just have heavy frost. 27* / 51* here today. Clear outside.

I showered & fixed my hair.
Swapped out my short sleeved shirts for long sleeved ones.
Put the pile of clothes from the two drawer away again.
Had bfast. Trimmed my hair.
Question - If you feel depression coming on what is most helpful to do?
For me check and see if it is hormones first then see if it's a full moon like last night was.
Third ask myself if I'm angry for me usually is the key repressed it.
I journal and then see what I get in prayer time like a verse to lean on.
Music and activity helps me.
I ask this H.A.L.T. = am I hungry angry lonely tired .

I got a late start this morning. I didn't see dfriend M's 8:15 a.m. message that I could pick up Ruby anytime. until 10:15 after I had walked Millie two laps, s2s-ed and was eating my breakfast. With body work at 11:30 I got moving to pick her up - I'm so glad because she was so happy to see me. (She's a favorite there, too, and I know they give her extra loving.) Took awhile to get her - a couple dropping off two dogs for boarding, then getting her stuff and saying goodbye, lol. I texted Mimi when I was on the way and they were waiting on the front porch for her! What a happy reunion!

Body work good - working on the hip and foot on the sore side. My intent was to get "everything" done this morning and come straight home after body work and go upstairs but with lollygagging and picking up Ruby that didn't happen. I went to grocery after body work and am finally home and unloaded, although nonperishables aren't put away.

The temp here was seventy when I walked the dog this morning, it's dropped to fifty-eight now.

Yesterday was a glorious day out on the river - a long boat ride, perfect weather, beautiful leaves and scenery. It was good for me to be out. We also ironed out some details of our trip to NYC for 30 Nov to 3 Dec.

Oh, dh just texted that he was able to make an appointment with dmassage therapist at six, so he's going then. I think that means we can have leftovers for our supper. I've been sitting here too long but feel like I've been out (twice) today and I've done enough, lol.

I need to finish kitchen clean up from this a.m. and put away groceries. Then I need to inventory my crafty supplies.

Break time.., cleaned all 3 bathrooms, did not power clean the two showers as that takes me almost a half a day. Deep cleaned the kitchen vacuumed and mopped the entire house with the exception of mopping Sweeties office. He’s in it and once he comes out it will take 5 minutes.
Dusted everything with the exception of my office, that and the sliding glass doors will get done tomorrow. Haven’t worked this hard this long in a while
