You got it right d lady! Smart smart dog who can get bored very fast - dd younger is perfect for him - she can take him to the construction sites etc. and she has him in different things - scent work, finding people, some protection practice, training at a high level. I don't know all his dutch words. he needs lots and lots of love! He loves children but will herd them sometimes.I am tired already at its only 4:50 ish! I can tell today that he was bored and bored for a malinois is never good.
I think tomorrow I will have to do search exercises with him. dd said I can play out in the yard but he listens to her and we have coyotes and neighbors all around us - so I don't think I will do that. Hoping that dd older will walk him in the woods.

With a distant mid-day appt, it seemed as if our entire day was taken up. As we got back into the car it started raining, so the half-idea we had of a quick run-through at grocery didn't make much sense anymore. As we got nearer home, HRH thought of a restaurant with a dedicated take-out door and decided to try that today. Good idea in many ways, but there was a line once he got in and even that took a long time. I was blissfully unaware, sitting in the car.

Back home, we got a card ready for dstepdil's birthday today, BUT a delivery arrived, and it was a present HRH had ordered for dstepson, whose bday is two days later. A funny kind of gag gift but it really looks cute and expensive (it wasn't). I didn't know he had done it. So, this began to worry me!!! It was as if we were forgetting dstepdil, and I remember having felt like that before. I was DISSATISFIED and pouted a bit. I thought about money - but what is she, a kid? She has her own money. Sigh.

So, I flew in and made her a cloth bookmark (you know me - when in doubt, make a bookmark). From idea (teapots fabric to go along with the picture on her bday card of cozy mouse ladies having tea) to finish, it took me an hour and 15 minutes. I will admit that getting to the idea may have been a little time consuming, but only because I did have more than one idea, of course, so it took a bit to winnow through them. Whenever you hear those optimistic "times" for quick DIYs, they never include all the time it takes to winnow through ideas in the first place!!

Anyway, I called her, and she was home, so I dashed over and gave her card and gift just before dark. It was a lot better to feel as though she knew I'd actually been thinking about her. She showed me a book she just bought, "if you won't laugh at me". It was B. Spears' new autobiography. That goes with sweet little cozy teapots, right?

Good News! A friend posted that she saw truck after truck rolling in to help with the natural gas situation and relighting.
They have the shut down part done.

Bad news I messed up the rolls / good news dog is really happy she loves em!
I will cut them in to crouton size cubes for dog treats.

People have been checking on me that makes me feel good.
Glad to have had the discussion of another heater to get before Jan. so put one on my amz. wish list dson called to say that it was not going to get here before mid. Dec. asked If I was aware of that. I wasn't but lest him know it was for later on and a possible back up. Thinking it would be good to have a back up to loan out or gift if some one needed it.
My dog is snoring lightly on the couch. She is fine.
One other good thing about this I have been home a lot and gotten the place in order!

Wondering if the folks that are doing the re lighting of the heat would take a plate of cookies?

mom is here for dinner. Mom wanted me to go there and bring her dinner - I didn't have the heart. it's okay.

Harriet the compost bin that we put out here isn't actually composted soil yet, it's veggie peelings and apple cores, etc. The local landfill uses it to make compost soil that they "give back" to the community once a year for a donation of either a canned good or cash. Dh and I always get some when it's available. I don't know what dh does with it, but I guess it goes on the veggie garden. We also have a compost pile at the back of the yard for flowers/leaves from the garden and soil that comes out of my terra cotta pots at the end of the growing season.

That sounds sensible, Twins'. I know here you can go to a place where the county sells compost at reasonable prices. But frankly I don't know who is invited to actually contribute anything to compost, just that it's not ordinary residents. Maybe restaurants with larger quantity, to be worthwhile.

blessed, yes, she is close enough that I could drop it off quickly - important because she had a date-night with dstepson coming up! I truly do need to invite for specific occasions more. I could do that in the other house more easily. We always say, "Come see us!" but it would be nice to have a specific day and time planned.

I posted the quickie directions for a fabric bookmark in A, C and N thread with photos. This is as much to remind myself as to share. I am always looking for a handmade gift idea that could be assembly-lined. I thought the star ornament would fit the bill last year, but even though I'm glad I tried it, it was time-consuming.

It’s not like dh and I have real arguments about the computer. It’s more of an annoyance and I just don’t think I really want to put enough money into it to get a good one.

I’m still not really at top speed — I don’t trust my stomach tonight. Dgd asleep in our floor with strep throat… dh beside me with the UTI… and dgs in bed with general symptoms requiring cold and cough meds and Tylenol.
Ddil headed out of state for funeral in the morning and DS working out of state all weekend.
HOWEVER —
— We FINALLY got our Tahoe back!!! (At a cost of almost $5000, btw.)
— filled up Tahoe and ds’ truck, returned ds’ truck
— picked up dgrands to spend the weekend
— stopped by doctor’s office for dh’s lab orders for Monday
— two trips to drug store, once for DH’s refill phoned in today, once for dgd because ds had not been yet
— I have finally got an order in for all my 2023 photos plus a photo book for dbil of his work anniversary party this summer (part of his Christmas present) PLUS set a photo book up for dgs of his big field trip this fall. (Still need to edit.)
— I typed and saved my Thanksgiving master lists for groceries and cooking schedule
— I typed labels for dgrands’ photos I will include in Christmas cards; Dgd helped put labels on photos
— I picked up supper for dgrands when they finally announced they felt like eating. (Dh and I had already eaten)
— I cleaned bathroom.
— I took my shower to get a better start on the morning.
— I got clean sheets on the bed and washed three throw rugs.

Fairly productive day.
