So many wonderful influences in our lives from women of our kin, or the women who've meant much to us outside our own family.
Those are worth contemplating, along with recognizing our own influence.

Re: Mother's Day Sunday
Early this a.m., I saw a headline: "On Mother's Day, aunties deserve their flowers, too". And even though I didn't read the whole thing, the concept stuck with me, and I was still thinking about it when I came to the village.
I am undoubtedly a better person, a more effective person, more confident in my own abilities and future because I had three biological aunts and six aunts-in-love (thanks, lucylee, for that better take on "in-law") who were remarkable examples: imperfect, assorted, and wonderful. Each has passed now, leaving memory, always the last guiding light. Dd25 says I should write things down. If I ever take that advice really well, I hope I remember to remember my aunts.
Happy visit last evening with ds' family, and before they left, the young man and dd25. Ddil baked a strawberry cake and brought us half, along with a gardener's book of flower photographs. DgdC and I sat and tried to name as many flowers as we could from the cover and the pages without words - fun, fun. Ds had made me a card, prodded by his children, on a piece of typing paper. But he hadn't allowed them to see inside. When I opened it, there was the private greeting: "I'm supposed to draw something cute." and a little stick figure with an arrow pointing to it, marked "me".
Because he had parked behind them, the young man insisted on leaving with them - would have enjoyed more visiting with him, too, but I think he was tired from yard work. The children were going to try to see the northern lights again, believing they had gotten to see them last night (and maybe they did), but I think the cloud cover was a problem.
This afternoon will be planting flowers at dd25's new house with her. She and the young man turned up the existing small beds yesterday, and dd says she was rescuing earthworms right and left, so that sounds very promising.
Nancy, I didn't realize you had a great-grand on the way! Congratulations. Good job getting ready for the day ahead of time. As I get older, I realize I almost need to calendar my own routines of hair care, clothes choices, etc. I used to just hop up and run.

Re: Mother's Day Sunday
Harriet, you remind me of how my dcousin talks about my dmother. Her own mother was mentally ill and died of suicide when she was young. She reminds me from time to time of my mother's influence on her, modeling how to be a wife and mother to her and other family members. I'll try to remember to call dcousin later too.
Ds and ds are taking me out for brunch. I wish I felt better. Last night w friends took a lot out of me and I'm just tired and weepy and emotional.
I showered with dh's help with squeeze containers for conditioner and facial cleaner, drying off, and getting lotion on my arms. I realized last night that the incision on the back of my hand extends nearly to the knuckle of the longest finger. I can move fingers ok but using them for much of anything. I'm into a full-fledged pity party, I'm afraid.

(Twins'). You have every right to disappointment right now
You don't know how much change there will be as you heal although I'm sure the Drs have their predictions. We are rooting for you!

Re: Mother's Day Sunday
Got flowers at church and put em in the planter I got the other day.
Church was good a salvation message Eph 2:8-10
Dd & Dgd & I had lunch they only had bfast but it was good and I enjoyed our time a place I'd not been to near by with new owners.
More of a sports bar theme but was the only option we have here close.
Dd stopped and got the bag with lites she wanted back glad I did not declutter em they were in the shed.
I have some classical music going now. My dsis left flowers on mom's grave.
She enjoyed the art water color beach scene book I ordered for her.
Ddoggo is happy with the cubes of potatoes I brought home they had a country style one I had em put in to go container.
I just gave her like 4 of em. Got my steps in today.
Dd said they are doing some thing diff. at work community lunch for employees on Tues. & Thurs. they take turns cooking and all pitch in
to bring ingredients. It's better than take out and a great atmosphere for customers.
Did up the dishes.
Swept some seeds.

~~~waving Hello to all~~~~
(((Twins))) Give yourself lots of grace. Having 2 surgeries within weeks of each other is HARD.
We had 7 hours of friends, family and food today. I enjoyed every moment of it, but I am about peopled out and need some quiet time.
Re: Mother's Day Sunday
Happy Mother's Day to all of you!
I've had a pretty good day -- dmom came to our church and then she and I went to eat at restaurant across the street from the church. Dgrands went with us; ddil is in the middle of her 5-night shift and declined dinner invitation. DS was out of town, but is home now and will go eat supper with us.
Dgrands are outside playing baseball... they alternate between playing nicely and then dgd screaming at him. She is VERY easily frustrated.
I intended to call my daunt, but she called me first.
So nice to talk to her.
The reunion with my class went very well; I had a really good time. Not nearly as emotional as I was with dh's classmates. I'm glad I went.
(((Twins))) Definitely ditto to what LadyM said; two surgeries so close together like that... just being put to sleep does something to your mind and emotions, I think. If you feel weepy, there's no surprise in that. Rest and give yourself time.
I really should have bought groceries this weekend. But OTOH, if I didn't, who cares? I will go tomorrow, I think. I'm out of diet drinks, except for peach tea, and out of bananas, my breakfast stand-by. It's amazing how little I need without dh here, and with ballgames every night so there's no reason to even think about what I will eat for supper.
Re: Mother's Day Sunday
I got dressed as soon as dh woke up. I drove up to his mom's house and had a visit with MIL and SisIL. Unfortunately the drive home took a very long time due to volume of traffic. I didn't see any accidents, just a LOT of vehicles. We gave MIL the gift of love from our gardens. Frozen peas, green beans and green peppers. Plus a bag of frozen blackberries, a jar of strawberry jam and a large jar of grape jelly. I also went to the farm stand across the road and bough 2 tomato plants, a hanging lettuce plant
and a bouquet of rhubarb. Dh and I both gave her cards.
I still haven't heard from dd today.
Dh cooked supper tonight. We had fried/breaded perch and deep fried potato wedges.
Oh... can't forget this. Dh also washed some pots and pans while I was gone and he gave me a lovely card.
Re: Mother's Day Sunday
Good evening. No big fusses raised for Mother’s Day here. I went to see Mom like I usually do for Sunday lunch; there were many more visitors than on a usual Sunday. Her birthday is Thursday; I’m planning to go back there with puréed cake.
Debating going out later to try to see the Northern Lights again. But I kind of want to turn in early.
