I know it's late and y'all won't see this till Tuesday, but by then, my week is going to be going in full blast. SMH...
I started today with only TWO obligation this week, aside from possible ballgames with dgrands, and those were likely to be rained out. Of course, the weekend is always booked for dgrands.
Well.... now this is what my week looks like:
* Tuesday -- help serve meal for family of deceased older lady, whose funeral will be at our church. I know the family pretty well, and will need to go to the visitation. Food committee is kinda handling me with kid gloves, you know, afraid I will be uncomfortable jumping into something like this less than a month after dh's funeral, but I told the church hostess, everything was so perfect for our meal after his service, that I want to help pay it forward.
-- possible ballgame for dgs tomorrow night; dgd is finished
* Wednesday -- take dmom to podiatrist, church Wed. night
* Thursday -- haircut
* Friday -- dgs Awards Day, dgd spends the night
* Saturday -- dgs spends the night
* Sunday -- church
* Monday -- dgd's Awards Day
Today I spent a lot of time on the phone. Called the credit card company to see if I needed to go ahead and pay bill for what turned out to be DH'S card; I was only an authorized user. I was very honest with the rep and told her I had actually used it AFTER dh's death, to pay for HIS funeral of all things, and the card was not closed until 4 days later when I notified them.
She seemed to understand all this, but kinda told me I could forget about it.

She said they would only attempt to collect from his ESTATE, not ME personally. Hmmm...
Dbil, the lawyer, doesn't like the sound of this (and honestly, neither do I) -- dbil says he has had a LOT of instances where a credit card debt was written off by the company, but in ALL cases, these were debts incurred by the decedent BEFORE death... NOT a case where the decedent's card was used to pay for HIS OWN FUNERAL.
So, I am going to try to pay this bill. Dmom has made me a gift/loan of the money, and I can manage this payment with her help, so I need to do that ASAP -- although the bill would not normally be due until the first of June.
I also did paperwork getting some more things in the mail -- applying for dh's final retirement check, a partial month... a thank you note that needed to go out... pool dues for our community pool membership...
Made appts for dmom with family doctor and podiatrist.
Went to Wmart. Spent $200 and didn't really get that much stuff -- but I did buy printer ink, laundry detergent, and several things in the non-grocery section. I find the bill is ALWAYS much higher, the more time one spends in the non-grocery section.
Went to dgrandson's ballgame. DGD played out of town, and ds took her, then came to dgs' when hers was over. She lost; he won.
Need to put together a fruit tray for tomorrow.
Yes, it's after 1:00 a.m. -- I've been working on budgeting stuff -- trying to see what we spent each month on utilities, phones, etc. What to expect in the future months.
Talked myself out of the SOS planner from "anchored women." It's a print it yourself planner, with a whole bunch of different layouts and extras, and it's only $29 till midnight Pacific Time. BUT... first, I don't want to print my own... and I do like the planner I use. It doesn't have the extras that this one does, but it would be simple enough to make my own, you know? $29 isn't much really, even in my present nervous state re: finances. But it's silly to throw it away on something I'm not likely to really use.
Waving to
all... (((HUGS))) and prayers,
Twins.
Interesting that Red Lobster is disappearing in your area,
Harriet. I LOVE Red Lobster... but the one we go to seldom has many customers. We wonder how much longer it will be in business.
