Perhaps logical consequences, LadyM. I remember the semester that dd wasn’t allowed to take her car back to UT because of a flagrant speeding violation. I almost felt I was punished along with her.
Tomorrow am we drive to ATL for a graduation brunch. We’ll need to be on the road by 9am. I might have time too. Nap back at home and we have a 6 pm graduation party for the wonderful neighborhood teen that has been walking dmillie.
We are heading to the beach a week from Sunday, dfriends A and V going for the first week as well. Need to start some planning. I’ll need to be busier next week.

Re: Friday 5 X 7 PWYC
LM Back in my day it was called being grounded and extra cirrucular actives stopped.
I had to wait till 16 , 14 yo were allowed to do day time driving but my mom was NOT letting me do that.
I suspect she was not wanting to surrender her car and a family friend
's daughter was given a car and totaled it on a gravel road.
So my lack of experience and a 3 speed on the column stick shift was intimidating so I refused to drive for the whole year after I got my lisc.
When my sisters were of driving age the family got a third car, things changed.
I must have gotten my point across!

In NJ you’re not allowed to get a permit to drive until your 17th birthday and then can apply for your drivers license 3 months after that

Re: Friday 5 X 7 PWYC
Didn't get here all day - a rarity. Missed "hearing" the input of your voices!
And, gee, Twins' started us with 5x7 (
) and a "go do that" and I missed it!
But HRH suggested time together in the morning hours and I'm glad we did.
Visiting my colorist was a mid-day priority.
Otherwise, general house cleaning catch-up until dd called and needed input on picking up her dad's eye drops from pharmacy. He did need one they were offering her, did not need the other. Tomorrow, he needs to repay her, because this eyedrop has gone haywire in price.
LadyM, how I hope your ds can take this philosophically and realize it is just a blip in life and does NOT define him.
I remember when ds had to have a delay in getting his full license and we really did think it was so unfair. Who knows - it may have kept him from some difficulty on the road. Still, it was a hard lesson. The asst principal at his high school had not been understanding at all, he felt, and treated him disrespectfully, not listening (I thought so, too). Years later, when a student pranked the teacher's lounge by nuking a roll of paper towels in the microwave and setting off every smoke alarm in the place, ds was the ranking firefighter responding to the alarm. Ds ended up rescuing that same asst principal, who really had a smokey mess, and teaching him how to handle the situation better if it happened again.
Meant to tell ya'll about HRH's happy day yesterday.
First, dstepson came over to borrow the truck and the covered trailer. That was a project, because the trailer had to be cleared out, the truck needed the hitch put on again, and lots more. Anyway, HRH ended up driving dstepson's 4-wheeler between houses quite a bit and dstepdil saw him coming back to her house at one point and was so amused - gray-bearded replica of her husband turning into her drive on that thing. She said, "weren't you a much younger man when I sent you over to your Dad's house?"
Then, HRH and ds hit golf balls (driving range stuff, not a course), and it was HRH who sent the longest drive sailing high, making ds shake his head and the children delighted. He had the presence of mind to quit while he was ahead, lol.
WonderBoy's math teacher called and asked to be put on speaker phone within his hearing. She said, "(WonderBoy), you broke the EOG!" She had gotten the test results back. There were 60 questions on the math portion (10th grade), and he had gotten 60 right, so the normal percentile scoring will skew/glitch in that situation. She was very cute teasing him that he should be more careful with our state's testing system.
Dd is going with wedding-flower lady tomorrow to choose something or another. I am going to opt out of that.
Dstepson will take our truck/covered trailer to home imp store and buy materials for shelving, then he and the young man will install them at the new house's garage.
Meanwhile, raindrops will be falling on everyone's heads, and I will be cozy and dry and getting something done indoors.
Hiya, lucylee!

Re: Friday 5 X 7 PWYC
WTG to HRH at the driving range...
and WTG to Lord & LadyM for enforcing difficult rules -- I guess with police revoking privileges, you really had no choice, but I'm guessing ds15 will find himself going to a lot less "fun" stuff, and a lot more "work" stuff (which I realize is fun for him, too.) Anyway, hopefully, a good lesson learned about trusting YOUR judgement re: "friends."
Hope y'all have a good day tomorrow and a safe trip, Twins.
Now... my 5x7... LOL. I don't think I got five "real tasks" done, but PLEASE KEEP READING...
* went to dgs' Awards Day w/ds, ddil, ddil's mom & brother
* went to eat at one of those Japanese steakhouses where they cook in front of you, with ds, ddil, and dgs
* came home, took nap
* went to Walmart and helped dmom get rx which she thought she needed me for assistance with Good RX app (turned out they did it for her)
* was unable to help dmom with her locked phone to which she does not know password
* filled up car
* went to pick up dgd to spend the night
* came home, and immediately, before getting out of the car,
SAW A SNAKE ABOUT HEAD HIGH ON THE BRICK JUST BESIDE MY BACK STEPS!!!
-- Immediately called ds, who came over ASAP and killed snake. Y'all. I cannot remember how long it has been since the last time we saw a snake around here. Five weeks today that I have been alone, and one is right there at my back door???
It was kinda brown, spotted, and I was just sure it was a copperhead -- everyone says they are terrible right now because they love cicadas. However, ds sent a picture to his father-in-law, and fil thinks it is a non-venomous rat snake. Honestly, makes no difference to me; a snake is a snake, and if one is blocking my doorway, and I have to kill it, I'm going to probably be screaming. Or fainting.
Posted pic on FB, and a friend says, "looks like he's headed to your attic, you may want to check up there for rodents, etc..."
(I have NOT heard any mysterious sounds from the attic, so I am not really worried, except I do have that leak. I may call the roofer again next week.)
Sigh. SIGH.
Anger IS a stage of grief, right? I am just a wee bit angry...
dh has left me to take care of snakes...
dh has left me with no clue where my car & truck titles are...
dh has left me to take care of all the College Town trips on my own...
and now I am about to cry again.
Anyway, after all that, dgd and I played a sort of stickball game in the hallway with a foam ball, played Clue, and played Scrabble.
We also went to McDonald's, the post office, and the bank.
I folded a load of towels (See what I did there? ONE small load.)
I watched Blue Bloods and read the paper.
I guess I did get five things done, but it still doesn't feel like I was very productive.
And of course, last night, I watched the series finale of Young Sheldon. Oh. My. Goodness.
I KNEW, of course, what it was going to be like... but y'all... with dgs the way he is, in so many ways a copy-cat of Sheldon... and dh a retired coach... It was tough. I needed a good cry. It was really a great way to end the series, if it has to end... and they are doing a spin-off with Georgie & Mandy... but it was tough.
Tonight of course was the last of Blue Bloods, but it will be back next season, apparently.
Anyway. I am not in a good place tonight.

Re: Friday 5 X 7 PWYC
((lucylee)), HRH happened to watch that episode without me and now tells me he isn't recommending it. He says it is really hard to watch.
Yes, you DO care if it is not a copperhead and is non-poisonous - that is seriously good news, so be happy about that. Copperheads don't like going vertical as much as thinner snakes, so that is another clue, but of course they will do it. They are chunkier rather than long like some of the non-poisonous, blacksnakes, etc., so vertical is more problematic.
Just order new titles from your state's DMV. HRH thinks you could do this online, and says in our state it is under "lost titles". He says this is a fool-proof system for finding the old titles. As soon as you get new ones ordered, you find the old ones.
HRH's friend S called because he saw HRH was online somehow (I don't know what technological connection showed that). He is in the hospital again, but only until tomorrow. They are trying to sync his heartbeat. Since I was still up, I talked to him, too. This has put me way behind in bedtime routine. Nite nite.
