Harriet: I'm in the process of 'refinishing' my kitchen counters with contact paper. It may or may not be going well. The bits I've done actually looked amazing when I walked back in after Costco.
I'm done for the day and also 'done.' It was a busy one and I have an 8:30 drop off across the street tomorrow morning (that stuff is still in the car but I'll carry it across.)
Missed chatting with dh because he finally contacted me as I was going into Costco after a rather long, drawn out drive there during rush hour. It took 33 minutes to get there and from the time I stopped the car and restarted it, was only 30 minutes. That included picking up petunias. The drive home was only 25 minutes so I had time to eat a proper dinner before my 7:00 meeting downstairs and then my 7:30 meeting upstairs.
I'm off to deal with the dinner dishes. Then off to bed early.
Tomorrow I'll post pictures of the project.

Kathryn, it is so good to see you posting again! We've lost touch with too many of our SHEs lately and I wanted to hear from you! I did see that you saw the news about dh... his funeral was 6 weeks ago today. I'm still in a sort of limbo, I guess... it just doesn't seem real.
It was encouraging to me to see that your cabin is a 3-hour drive. If you can do it, maybe I can do it!
Well, College Town is more like 3.5, but surely I can eek in those last 30 minutes, if I make it for the first 3 hours!
Your kitchen sounds like it's coming together really great!

BTW -- does ANYONE have an email for blessed? Has anyone heard from Harmony?
And yes, Harriet, dmom was pretty sure it was some sort of staph infection. This happened last year, same place. She is very upset with the surgeon who did this surgery. I think she had three abdominal surgeries in 2022. The other two were closed with staples; this one was closed with the "glue" that they use... and she has not felt good about it since Day One. Sigh. I certainly don't know what could be done about it at this point, though. She has a follow-up appt with the surgeon next week, though, so maybe he can offer some insight. I guess I'll be going with her for that one, too. Another early morning (for me, that is. The appt is at 9:45.)
Tuesday Ta-das! I have made progress.
Since my last post, I have
* talked to dmom -- her phone is back in order, thank goodness!!!
* washed and hung to dry two loads of clothes, and put away two more loads that had been piled up on the dryer or left in the dryer
* washed dishes that were left in the sink
* sorted through the papers, put away several, some still need some thought as to "where does this go?"
* tried a craft project -- this may be a huge failure. I have pressed flowers from the funeral, and tonight I tried to attach them to cardstock, with spray-on mod-podge. Hmmmm... I don't think it's going to hold very well. The idea is to use the paper to print out all the online sympathy notes, etc, that we received and sort of scrapbook these together. But it may just be a mess. I sprayed the paper, put the flowers down, then sprayed on top of the flowers. I won't touch it till tomorrow and then we'll see what I've got.
* set up alerts on my new credit card
* talked to ds -- tomorrow is their anniversary (14 years). I told him IF I felt as much better tomorrow as I did today, I would take the dgrands swimming and they could stay with me while ds & ddil go out to eat. I may let them spend the night... we'll just see how I'm making it tomorrow.
