I never got here yesterday -- TWO doctor's appts with dmom just wiped me out. Afterwards, I called dbro to just "share the wealth." He may be a thousand miles away, but I am definitely going to let him know just how much I am doing up here. * whew * When I told him about my panic attack re: the fear of actually taking a beach trip with her... he TOTALLY understood, said there was no way HE and dsisil wanted to take a trip like that with her either. He said I should just let it go in one ear and out the other; "She says a lot of stuff, but when it comes right down to it, she's not going to plan a trip and pack and everything. Just smile and say 'yeah, that would be nice,' and then don't even think about it anymore." (You may notice, dbro's attitude is a lot like ds'.)
At this point, we have to return to the surgeon, re: the cellulitis/absess next Wednesday, and we will return to the pain clinic on July 2. Re: the foot, the pain doctor cannot offer any sort of injection for pain relief there; he seems to think (like the podiatrist) that surgery is the only real option. dmom does not want to be put to sleep again, and I definitely do not want to go through another lengthy recovery. Dmom also fears foot surgery, because there is no guarantees they can actually fix it.

I came home and took a nap, and then DS and the dgrands and I went out for supper. I just had a hamburger and cheese sticks, but it was really good. We went to a place about 20 miles away, where we rarely go, but I suggested it because they have 24 flavors of soft serve ice cream. The only place I can get maple ice cream, and it was really good.
Afterwards, dgd spent the night.

She has gone home now, but dgs is here. DS and carpenter friend are on the roof. We can now see into the attic from the hole in the study ceiling. Last night I noticed it was dripping again. Called D's, he called friend this morning, and they've been here a little over two hours so far. I truly am praying they can find the problem and get this stopped. And I am so mad that dh didn't take care of this before he passed away.

Yesterday was hard... I started crying over nothing while eating lunch with dmom.
Then dgd said something about it not being fun here without granddaddy, (which may be an idea I put in her head with my questions a week or so again) and I started crying again.
But today, I'm okay, so far.
Thinking back to yesterday's three outcomes.
Okay --
today --
1. Floors vacuumed
2. Bathrooms cleaned
3. Call made to AT&T

Waving to all!
I am so glad that LordM is doing so well, and I am enjoying all the wedding prep at Harriet's house! So exciting!
Agreeing with Dove about how good it is to see Kathryn back with us, AND -- Dove, it is good to see you posting more, too!
(((Rose))) I hope the toxic smell leaves SOON. Something like that is just aggravating to deal with!
Tomorrow is another day.

Thanks for the reminder that "these are the good old days" we will remember wistfully someday. Right now, the house is in a state and the Matron of Honor saw it that way, there are a dozen unmatched cardboard boxes all over my couches, my vacuum cleaner's broken, toilet broken, I had to call HRH to kill a snake on the front porch, and dd25 has packed three kinds of tummy meds. The two young women are off to have bridal fun events with the other women attendants who all arrive this evening at the rented place.

Must tell Suspenseful Amazing Bride Story : Because her ddad was concerned about the rule that you have to have a marriage license for 48 hours before marrying (which, btw, turns out to be eased by now), dd and the young man had scheduled meeting each other to head to the courthouse in big city yesterday as soon as he got off work at 4. This was right after the Maid of Honor's present to dd of a mani-pedi (remember the pedi part). The building closes at 5, the bureau locks its doors at 4:30, so it was going to be tight, but was the only opening both bride and groom had during this very tight week, with 8 friends traveling in to be hosted, some needing pickup at airport. Dd drove with Matron of Honor to pick him up close to midtown, then to the courthouse entrance. They did a switcheroo of drivers there in the street at a traffic light and Matron of Honor took the wheel to go find parking.

Dd and the young man hurried in, got through security, only to be told it was the next building. They rushed to the next building, through security, only to be told, no, the next one,,, .., see, waaaay over there. :o By this time, it was after 4:20, and dd's nice sandals were holding her back. She grabbed them off her feet and took off at a sprint along the city sidewalks in her bare feet ahead of the young man. Through the door, through security again, but even though she rushed up to the door of the license bureau at 4:25... .. it was locked. (This is the point in the suspense that the music falls briefly.)

She went back to security checkpoint ( ), to report the door to the Sherriff's Deputy! I kid you not. "I only want to get married, but they've locked the door!" she remembers saying, and she then she told them of this terrible Crime against True Love, pointing to her watch. Big burly man was instantly on her side and said, "Oh no they did NOT lock before 4:30" and went to the door and knocked LOUDLY without stopping until someone opened it ... .. to see him! The lady said, "Oh, this door! I don't know why it gives us trouble like that." :| Um, no... .. it was locked, or the Deputy could have gotten in already! So, marriage license secured, and hopefully no damage to dd's feet.

Yet another big box delivered while typing. Good gravy.

Harriet: thank you for entertaining us so well! (((Harriet and dd))) the days will pass.

The best part of ds' wedding day was the amazing team of photographers. I didn't have to think about taking a picture, they were on it covering us from all angles including from their knees to get great action shots of dgs running around, and from the air with a drone to get all of us in a shot at once.

Apparently the rain that I could see on the weather map that wasn't going to hit me here did hit the city pretty badly and there was flooding in numerous places in Ottawa. No-one is posting about it on the building FB group so I'll assume all is good there.

Love the wedding license saga, Harriet! Hope the pretty toes held up!

We got in maybe 4:45. Dh did the driving again. I think I’m as tired as I am when I drive. Get so bored, can’t read for fear of car sickness.

Joyful reunion with little miss Millie, who is snuggled against me.

Twins, I always slept sooo much while dh drove. That is why I am so afraid of making the College Town trips on my own (with dgrands) now.

Kathryn, I'm NOT going outside to walk tonight. Please excuse me. ;) I didn't walk outdoors last night, either, but it was because it was raining, thundering, and lightning. Severe thunderstorm warning. I did the indoor walk away the pounds routine, however.

Today, I just don't know... I may be done for the day. I already have almost 8000 steps, and y'all know that's a lot for me.
I was in and out all day with the carpenter & DS... and I swept the porch and carport, put quite a few old toys in the outside garage, set out a (very small) shrub, and repaired a shutter.
DS and the carpenter * think * they have the leak fixed. We'll wait through another storm or two, and then he will come back and repair the ceiling.
At that time he will also fix a cut off valve for the shower that has been continually leaking for years. I may not get the flooring repaired, etc, but at least the water damage won't get any worse.
Today, the carpenter also repaired some vinyl siding that had blown off in a storm on one of the gables of the house, and DS took down the shutters on the end of the house which had been falling apart. One of the shutters on the front of the house was beginning to fall apart also, and I was able to repair it with some of the scraps from the others and some of the Alien Tape you see advertised on tv all the time. I think that's going to work. It has been holding my address number strip on a fence post for quite a while now.

I went to the drug store and picked up refills I had left yesterday, and then while I was in line at the chicken place next door, my cousin walked up and asked me to come inside with my supper and eat with her and her husband. That was nice, and we enjoyed talking for an hour or so.

EMBARRASSING TMI ALERT --
Unfortunately, while I was out digging the hole for the shrub, (it was in a very small pot, probably a 4" pot at most) but I had one of those stomach episodes... this is really something I'm going to have to talk to the doctor about. I mean... couldn't get inside quick enough, had to change underwear... I know... TMI. This really bothers me when I think about college football games. Condo is about a mile walk from the stadium... exercise and heat seem to make this stomach problem worse. Of course, I had no Imodium today. I will definitely make that a priority on football weekends. You know, I might could justify using dh's handicapped tag because of dgd's arthritis. I mean, she makes it pretty well most of the time, but sometimes, a 2-mile walk in one day might be a bit much. I have the hang tag for dh, and it is good for at least two more years -- but I do not use it because I feel guilty using it just for my convenience. Of course, I guess this stomach issue IS a handicap for me, anyway. Sigh.
Tomorrow is another day.

lucylee, I'm glad you are getting some needed repairs done around the house.

Here, dstepson came and we really thought he fixed the toilet - until after he left. Sigh. It IS better. But it is still running/filling just a little bit all the time. Not even making noise, but obvious when you look in the bowl. Sigh. I just can't call him back again - he has long hours as it is.

lucylee, also I'm sorry you are having tummy difficulties. We live in an age of marvels, though, and it stands to reason you could be prescribed some help for this. Please do talk to dr and find out what you can. I think the handicap tag could be in the glovebox to give you reassurance, for the chance that urgent moments could happen. Hmmm... .. exercise and heat? Heat definitely can affect, I think. Don't know about exercise, but then if it makes you feel hotter... ..?

Twins', delighted to see that you are home safe after a happy trip.

Cathy, I meant to tell you that was a triumphant book hunt you had! Sorry for the sore muscles - a good cause.

Dove, thank you for the info! I'll look for the product.

Are we at "Thumbs Up!" stage? Sort of.

The sleeve is finished, and quilt set aside.

I've realized HRH's wedding shirt needs touch-up ironing, so adding that to the list.

Vacuuming... .. yes and no. The beater bar isn't turning? Or something? Sigh. I did what I could with the wand - this is just going to have to wait.

(((Harriet))) -- It's crazy how things wait till the very worst minute to tear up... toilets, vacuums, etc. Maybe you can get it all figured out later after all the wedding stuff calms down.
It does feel good to at least have someone trustworthy working on all this mess. You know, it occurred to me while I was cleaning up, dh grew up spending his summers as the helper for appliance repairmen. He was never much of a DIYer, but he helped deliver furniture for his dad and was always the go-fer when his dad or the other appliance men were doing the actual "fixing." So, as I just told DS, I think maybe he put off these repairs because (1) a lot of the time he just didn't feel like dealing with it, but also (2) he was embarrassed that he couldn't be on his feet to stay by their side and help as much as he could. When the plumber came, a man who had worked for his dad and whom dh had gone on lots of calls with, dh would always feel that he had to stay right there with him to hand him this/that, etc. DH just couldn't call someone and leave them with it, I mean. So, he just put it off and let it pile up.
At any rate, I'm praying this repair today will be the fix and I don't have to tell carpenter friend that there's still a problem in a week or so. We're supposed to get rain Sunday, I think, but I think we need to watch it through two or three storms before we trust it to be ready for sheetrock.

Well -- today's three outcomes --
(2 out of 3 ain't bad.)
[ ] 1. Floors vacuumed
[x] 2. Bathrooms cleaned
[x] 3. Call made to AT&T, changed billing name to myself
PLUS all the little extra things mentioned in my other post. It is really nice to see the carport swept out (I was scared snakes were hiding in the dead leaves that had accumulated. BTW, DS did have to dispose of a dead chipmunk, which apparently just rolled over on his back and died right in front of my truck in the carport. :? )

Tomorrow -- my 3 will include
[ ] vacuuming floors
[ ] renew car tags, look into ordering new titles
[ ] * maybe * take dgrands swimming
Tomorrow is another day.

Running through and waving…. So glad LordM is back to his old self and the bride-to-be got her license! Thank you, Dove, for remembering us night owls!

Our hockey team survived to play another day (they are down 3-1 in a best-of-seven playoff series). They play again on Saturday. DH can take one of the kids. He has a pair of very good seats — that are many, many stairs down from the concourse. I had my fill of the stairs for a while today. Sweet dreams to all of you!

Lucylee: In my books, that call to AT&T counts as at least 2 items. Well done! And you got way more steps than I did today. I really meant to go for a walk but I didn't and I didn't have the weather as an excuse.

I did enjoy my time reading on the deck. And I had a semi-healthy dinner: oven sweet potato fries (from a sweet potato, not premade frozen), a salad with many veggies and a carrot, plus a hot dog.

I should be in bed now, but I got distracted watching TV and with reddit.
