(((Thank you all so much))) - such sweet thoughts. I'm sure Mystery is exactly right about rain or shine, but we do seem to have all sun. I may text dd that part about "Happy the bride the sun shines on". Twins', we will be just barely cooler but yes, "not a cloud in the sky" is a mixed blessing for outdoor events, lol.
Clear skies - check
Seating arrangement/aisle walking arrangement - check
quilt hung on sturdy banner-rack with help from tall groomsman - check
Now last-minute safety pin in my outfit and we're ready!

Re: Wedding Bells Saturday PWYC
How exciting! Our last SHE wedding was Kathryn's DS wasn't it?
Our plans for the day are in jello and keep getting adjusted.
DH and I teamed up to mow the 2 main back yards. That involves one person moving dogs and opening/shutting gates while the other one rides the zero-turn mower. It only took about 45 minutes to accomplish. Those yards still need to be week eated but that is for another day.
DS15 made the connection between seller and buyer of 4 tires and rims. He brought them together and everyone was happy. I asked DS15 what his commission was in the deal but he didn't want money. He was just happy to do it for 2 friends.
Planned but not happening yet. =
** DS15 is going to hang a TV on wall for an elderly couple. They are going to come pick him up in 45 minutes and will bring him back when the job is done. DS15 enjoys spending time with this elderly couple and would do it for free, however they always insist on paying him more than normal.
** DS15 has a yard to mow and weed eat.
Once all that is done then we plan to go to the city to eat. We will take DS15 girlfriend and DD13 best friend with us. We called DD48 and left a message asking if she will meet us at restaurant to celebrate her birthday. DD48 won't take my phone call so we all sang Happy Birthday on her voice mail. If it were just me and DH, we would probably give up on a relationship with DD48. However, she has two children that we want to give every opportunity to have a relationship with her. DS15 doesn't want one but DD13 does. We will celebrate DD48 birthday whether she joins us or not. Families aren't always easy.

Amen to that, LadyM, and (((BIG HUGS)))Families aren't always easy.
That's really good of you to hang in there, though, and try for dd13.
Harriet -- joining in with all the cyber-aunties in wishing dd, the young man, and ALL of you a wonderful day. Glad to see you got the seating and aisle walking situations cleared up -- later on, you'll have to tell us what solution y'all arrived at.
I took dgd home; I think she gets tired of me easily.
DGS is here now, however. He said he could stay with me a week and wouldn't get tired of me.
We went to S*nic and I got cheese sticks and a cherry diet Dr. Pepper. DGS started out wanting S*nic, but he decided on a slush from the gas station next door, where I had to stop to get a newspaper -- because the paper failed to deliver AGAIN.
Anyway, after that, we went to the carwash and went through the drive-thru wash, and then vacuumed the car. It looks a LOT better. I'm a little bit afraid I vacuumed up dgd's star pin for being on A/B honor roll... but my goodness... if it were at her house, it'd probably be lost also. She shouldn't have left it in my car three weeks. She had a ribbon for honor roll also, so... whatever. Maybe the star was for good conduct? I don't know, but I really doubt DDIL is doing a very good job keeping up with all this stuff, so it's not really my responsibility.
Nancy -- I wanted to mention that dh and I didn't even attend ds' wedding!
I plan to go out and trim my shrubs a bit today. I haven't showered yet, and I figure I should do all the sweaty work before I do.
Hope you all have a wonderful day! ESPECIALLY the Harriet & HRH household!
Tomorrow is another day.

Re: Wedding Bells Saturday PWYC
While showering this a.m. a friend called and she and her dh wanted to take us out to dinner tonight. She has asked several times and it hasn't worked out so I felt like we should go, and do it on the late side after we got home from the river, so I suggested 7 p.m. She said she would talk to her dh and let us know where and when. So we went to river, hung out there in the sun, full tummy, a glass of wine, and dh suggested that we go home early so he could nap before we went out. So when home I texted her to let them know we could go out earlier and I still have not heard a word from her about the evening! And you know, I'm not very spontaneous, and it always seems they text or call "the day of." Anyway, she did send me a text earlier that was meant for someone else - business type - and texted "Ignore" so I know she hasn't lost her phone! Or did she want us to suggest the place? This just feels weird.
Honestly, I said earlier that I expect to be peopled out this weekend and I rationalized going out with them because they've invited us and we haven't been able to accept, and because I don't have to go tomorrow evening.
Dh is still asleep, I've walked the ddog. I was in the shade at the river in 87 degrees, here I'm just hot hot hot. I laid down to nap and I think I was overheated. Could not fall asleep.
(turns out she texted dh because I had said I was going to nap...so I think we have plans now....)

Re: Wedding Bells Saturday PWYC
I'm feeling a little teary that Harriet's dd is getting married today. She was such an adorable little girl, then grew into a confident young woman who dh and I are proud to know. Her artwork is on my preaching binder and so I feel really close to her and very happy for her. The young man sounds wonderful and has both Harriet's and HRH's approval so that's good enough for me.
I'm looking forward to photos.
As for me, really lazy day here but it took until just now for me to remember I didn't take my ADD meds today.
It was cold in the morning so I had another fire, using up another 4 pieces of wood (on top of 2 last night) so when I finally went out this afternoon, I brought in the wood from the porch and reloaded the porch bin with wood from the woodpile. I don't know if I'll have another fire tonight. The cabin is warm enough now, so probably not (it got up to 70 and I'm dressed warmly enough that even though I'm mostly sitting, I don't feel cold.
I cooked up a proper dinner for myself and that is all cleaned up and the dishwasher is running. Yes, the advantage to this cottage is that it has both a dishwasher and giant fridge because it is a permanent home. And a furnace, although the landlord mostly heats by the wood fireplace which is why I'm having so many fires since dh isn't here (they make him uncomfortable which is why we never had a real fireplace.)
I'll try and read for a while. Finishing this book is on my to-do list for this trip. There were two jigsaws to do (just 300 pieces each) but the weather turned out to be too good for those!

Re: Wedding Bells Saturday PWYC
We had spaghetti and meatballs for supper. All pots and pans are done. Dirty dishes are in the dishwasher waiting for it to become a bit more full.
All laundry is clean and put away. All garbage got emptied and taken outside this morning. Cat boxes have been cleaned and refilled. Out-of-house errands have been done. Picked up 2 meds for dh and took a full container of "sharps" to the pharmacy as well.
I have been doing a lot of cross stitching today as well.

Re: Wedding Bells Saturday PWYC
I did the shrubs, but not a really thorough job of it. DGS pronounced one of them as looking “kinda janky.”
I then s2s, washed my hair, and dgs and I went out for T*co B*ll. Invited ds but he wasn’t really in the mood for tacos.
Neither was I, but I did eat 3 crunchy tacos.
After we got home, I cleaned up the trimmings, put them in the trash.
Dgs has been talking a blue streak — the longest words in the English language… the longest place names in the world… an imaginary basketball tournament he’s been playing.
I worry a lot that it’s too quiet and too sad over here now and he’ll stop wanting to stay here so much.
I just feel sorta vaguely nauseous all the time. And I feel kinda nervous, about doing ANYTHING. I mean, I don’t really want to be around anyone. Even time with dgrands or ds brings on a little anxiety, but I CANNOT let myself start avoiding time with family.
That includes my dmom, within reason. A trip to the doctor in Next Town is not like the way I’m avoiding 2 (or more ?) nights (and days) at the beach (plus the 6-hr drive each way.)
I’ve looked at some of the group counseling/support groups and individual counseling at Hospice, but I don’t feel ready for that yet. That makes me nervous too.
Anyway, I still start crying at the drop of a hat, and anxiety is sorta a generalized feeling 24/7.
Do y’all think that’s normal?

Re: Wedding Bells Saturday PWYC
((lucylee)) Not surprised there are still tears. That one is a marathon, not a sprint.
Frankly, your post makes me think you would benefit from finding things to fill the parts of life and time that feel empty to you now. It's work, but with rewards. What would lucylee like to do, what would lucylee like to learn, what would make lucylee laugh, feel creative, want to do again the next day? Singularly you yourself - not how can you make a grandchild want to be with you more, or how you can make yourself look calmer or more collected to anyone else, or how you can gather things/activities for your family's sake. Just honestly pleasing lucylee. When my dear late dh passed, I told the children and several close folks that I felt there was a choice for me between going to the famous-at-the-time bar hangout in big city every night, or becoming a missionary. Whittling those two extreme reactions down from the ends
, and with some starts and stops, I found there really was a middle ground that was full and rich and most importantly was "me". I wish that for you.
Tomorrow - a report that will probably be too long on a day that was the happiest of happy days for all our family - too good to be true, almost. I'm getting it down - making notes now before I forget. HRH is at his computer sorting amateur video coming at him from his friends, his brother, sister, on and on, lol. He looks at the walk down the aisle and keeps saying, "Who is that old guy?"

Re: Wedding Bells Saturday PWYC
I did rounded today and got more writing in and another can of rose branches filled.
The worked on gathering info. for my writers note book[s] ordered a more official work book with notes and stuff for this.
Did a writing session outside with my feet on the grass out front just for fun.
Got the suckers pruned off the tree out front yea!
I'm declaring this my writers retreat!
Ordered some books for it too and journals and a reward for after camp nanorimo I'm SO excited.
I found a bunch of info. for this on pintriest too so I updated my writers board.
A/C catchment pumper outter is not functioning so I have a bucket actually a waste can under it.
But the until is still functioning counting that for mopping! LOL!
Had a low bs and pizza just a tiny bit early was dinner.
I've showered and cannot believe that the day has already turned into nite.
I have a plan for meals tomorrow.
I was thinking of sleeping out on the deck but dd has the mattress for that.

LOL @ HRH… and I CANNOT WAIT to read ALL about today!!!
Harriet, you are incredible! After all you’ve done today, taking time to reassure me. (((Hugs))) and much, much gratitude.
Also LOL at choosing between the bar and the mission field.
I’ll think about that.
I know the tears will be coming for awhile…
The anxiety surprised me. But for a person who has never been able to deal with change, I guess the biggest change I’ve faced in my life, at least the last 45 years of it, would be expected to bring a certain amount of anxiety.
Good night, Harriet. I hope you and HRH sleep well.
May God bless your dd and her husband with many, many years of happiness.
——
Editing to say — I finally got to my Bible reading for the day. The title in the Upper Room is “Fear Not.”
The section in my Bible, Luke 12:22-31, is “Do Not Be Anxious.”
Much easier said than done, but certainly a timely reminder.
