Hot Summer Friday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Where is it not hot today? Is Nancy the exception? Did Kathryn get the cooler weather today, as expected? Will be 94 here later, and humid, to boot!

Make the most of the day, hot or not, but take some time to cool down and be safe!

I need to be leaving in a little more than an hour for dr appointment. I'm feeling anxious about it. Dh will meet me there and afterward I'll go to get my glasses adjusted. I have an appointment for a pedicure at 1 p.m. also.

I've done some straightening for dcleaning lady and walked ddog already. Two big things yet to do are breakfast and s2s. Heading to s2s now....

Good Morning!

I have detoxed my skin (aka sweating) this morning while walking. Just standing outside holding the watering hose results in skin detoxing happening. Without a doubt, summer temperatures have arrived.

At midnight I told both kids to GO TO SLEEP.
At 3am I told DD13 to GO TO SLEEP.
Life with teenagers......

This morning, I worked on deep cleaning the driveway and walkway in front of the house. I have two more sections to do. Hopefully I can finish that project tomorrow.

My goals for today -
** Gather interest income from 2023 and send it to cpa.
** Deep clean the kitchen freezer drawer.
** Cut low hanging limbs from trees in front yard.

Cooking food for family = spaghetti and meat sauce

Hi!

We started off with a somewhat cooler day. It was only in the 80's. Then the fog rolled in and we could only see the house closest to us. No barns or other outbuildings. We have a gorgeous view of barns behind us and across the street just to the north of us.

I worked in the garden this morning as well. I got more flowers planted into containers. The the sun started burning the fog away. Dh is currently cutting the grass. Dh just remembered that he hasn't gone to buy that stone yet. I will give him a reminder before I go to knitting this afternoon.

There are 3 dishes that are in the sink waiting to go into the dishwasher and some clean laundry waiting to be hung up.

We are going out for cheeseburgers tonight.

I need to jump in the shower before I go to knitting.

... later

Dishes and laundry have all been dealt with. I am going back outside for a bit.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Home from dr appointment and I'm healing great! All this hard work growing a new bone pays off, lol. I walked through HomeGoods and enjoyed some retail therapy. I got some nice planters for repotting and some small fake plants for back screened porch, which bakes in the summer. I don't even try to keep live plants except for zinnias and geraniums in the back yard. I checked yesterday and my oak leaf hydrangea is budding out.

Need to turn around and leave in about 10 min for pedicure.

Twins - That report from your doctor is wonderful news!

I've played and piddled in the garden, in the kitchen and updated my notebook pages. Time seems to pass so quickly.

It was close to 60 here overnight and is still just under 70. Ken noted the overnight low next week is supposed to be in the 40s!

The cabin was still warmer in the morning, but cooled off when the temperatures didn't rise so I ended up close the windows to keep the heat in. I debated starting a fire, but turned on lights instead since I think the dull/dark is making it seem colder (the same reason they were off when it was so hot!) Both of us put on sweaters instead and I'll have to join dh putting on socks again.

It was to get sunny around now and, while it is bright sitting here in the window (literally, my elbow is over the window ledge!), a light rain just started to fall so I'm guessing the sunlight is delayed or cancelled.

So far today I've managed to get dressed, do a good tidy, cleaned the layer of dead no-see-ums off the bathroom counter, cleaned the sink and mirror and toilet, the kitchen sink, and swept the tile and wood floors and used the carpet sweeper on the carpets. Also loaded the dishwasher with two days of dishes. The place looks a lot better now (it was approaching "there appears to have been a struggle" status.)

I've been off my meds for 3 days now and struggling a bit to keep at things. Slept really well last night but was still tired when I got up. It had been 8 hours and my back was sore so I got up anyway. I've had a lot of caffeine and it is making no difference in my tiredness. Of course, it is a dull day so that's working against me too.

I have a small project laid out for me to do and accomplished a tiny project (literally just cutting up some material to use as bidet drying wipes), and I've defrosted the meat for dinner and reminded myself how I'm going to tenderize it (had to look up the instructions as I apparently didn't think I'd forget what I did so successfully last time we had steak.)

Dh's morning walk and kayak included spotting a lot of bear scat quite close to the property, the fox, a chipmunk swimming across the lake, and the loon we hear quite often. The birds have been chirping all day to keep me aware of their presence (and a chipmunk is dragging leaves out from under the stairs to the porch and carrying them off, I assume to build a nest.)

Sitting in hot pickup with 4 windws down to catch a breeze.. I opted to stay in pickup to limit how many times i use the step ladder to get into ds15 ds15 pickup. The first step hits me about mid thigh and I'm not as agile as i use to be. Getting out of pickup is easy...i just slide down

Very hot here, and looking at two days of 96 each, coming up.

Ds mowed yesterday because he needed to get ahead of painting, etc., but honestly, for lawn's sake I almost wish he hadn't. He also got on tractor and worked for hours - I don't know how he does it. Then took his family out to eat. All after three-quarter day at work. Good grief.

HRH spent time outside this a.m. working ahead of the pressure-washing guy. He pulled things away from the house, helped move some of my planters. I just couldn't stay out there long - I greeted, realized no matter where I stood, I seemed in the guy's way, so excused myself.

The two porches, our chimney and the small building look clean and neat. Tomorrow - 24 hours - the guy thinks all will be heat-dried enough to come paint the building, so it will look even better. I need to do some general watering this evening, get my planters back where they are supposed to be.

Feeling the tiredness Twins' mentioned yesterday. It's oppressive here.

Glad Twins' got a good report from dr - hooray.

LadyM, also be careful as you slide, of course. but it sounds like you've got this. We have never found a better idea than my parents' rope on a lightweight stool that just stayed in the truck. Mama would set the stool out on the ground, lace rope through door handle, step up into truck and pull the stool up and in with her. So far, I'm okay hopping, but I do feel it. Probably not as high as your teens' truck, though - I remember ds seemed to make his an obstacle course when he was young.
