Good morning!

Yes, I was very precautionish and went out early this morning to check on plants and generally putter around the yard. Still allowing some watering that I'll need to remember to cut off in about another half-hour. Completely out of any potting-type soil of any kind and sort of need some ... .. need to decide how important that is and whether to buy.

Laundry may be done for the morning, but I'll consider another small load.

Every room here could use some attention, so maybe a Round Robin.

We are listening out for news from a friend who had to call 911, not able to catch his breath. Isn't it wonderful, though, that we live in a time a phone call brings the pros to you. Very hopeful.

Learn something new every day. Dd25 has some friends in Denmark, having met through college, so I imagine they are very familiar with the holiday.

Isn't it a happy thing that the dragons don't go about poisoning wells anymore? Mostly just playing card games these days.

Dh just left and will be away overnight. I'm hurrying to get upstairs on the early side, especially since I missed the orientation last night. I could have made it, but when we got home I was overheated and fussy and just plain forgot.

Need to finish a.m. routine, I've walked ddog and had breakfast so I'm doing ok on time.

Morning girls…

Just got back from my class and am enjoying my second cup of coffee. Want to work on two different closets but can’t decide which one to start on. Think I’ll assign one for heads and the other for tails and flip a coin, then I won’t have to decide which one to start on :

I went back to bed and slept till 5:15 or so.
Did ten min. qt then walked ddoggo
back before seven not sure on the time it was a short walk nice and cool.
Did my bujo pages for the month.
I watered out front need to do the beds and back yard.
Laundry will be later cooler here today. 81*
Soup for one meal.
Like Harriet every room needs at least some attn. her as well.

VBS Day #1 is a wrap. It was organized chaos with about 150 kids and workers. My part is easy. My group is nine pre-K and kindergartens. 6 boys and 3 girls. I've taken care of over half of them when they were babies & toddlers in the nursery, so we are well acquainted for most of their lives.

While I was at VBS DH and DD13 went to the city for an appointment to order diabetic shoes.

I am frustrated with myself for not getting the raised beds watered before leaving this morning. I didn't get them watered before going to church yesterday either. I have to water early in the morning because of the heat. I need to up my focus for getting the watering accomplished before doing VBS this week.

DS15 is home. They started work at 6am and stopped at 1pm because of the heat.

Hi!

No idea what is for supper tonight. I have bratwurst in the fridge, so I think that is what we will have.

A very nice time at knitting this morning, except that all 3 of us were cross stitching! That's a massive switch! I don't think any of us got in more than a few stitches. We tend to talk a lot. One of the ladies was at the garage sale where I got the typewriter and we talked about how happy I was to have gotten it.

It's cooler here even though it's still hot.

After taking a break and eating lunch i was ready to get started doing something.

I made a double batch of cheddar cheese mac & cheese. I have never made it this way (using 2 kinds of cheddar cheese). I am not a fan but everyone else loved it. That works out well because I don't eat it. If I did eat pasta, then I would prefer having the smoothness of Velvetta cheese sauce.

I also cooked all the rest of the large, breaded chicken planks. Buying these was an experiment and I learned not to buy these big planks again. They take over an hour to cook because of their size. No. Thank. You. I didn't ask the family if they prefer the large planks because I don't care what their answer is. I'm not spending twice as long cooking big planks vs smaller ones.

We are probably behind the fashion trends but it makes me smile to see teenage boys wearing these type of shirts. When DS15 arrived at work this morning his boss called his wife to come look what DS15 was wearing. She said "Nice!" and smiled.

Taking a break…

I ended up working on my guest bedroom closet and bathroom. The guest bedroom closet is really used for storage as I have a third of the storage that I had at the other house. I also worked under the cabinets in that bathroom which I use for myself.

Purged quite a bit. In my closet I have shelves which hold and overflow of traveling containers and old makeup. Took me a while to get through all of that. Plus I emptied out all my little traveling jars and stuff. I needed to empty them and wash them out. Many of the contents were more than a year old. Anyway that took some time to do.

I also reorganized my side of our master bathroom including under my sink. That took time as well. Now I need to do the finishing touches in the guest bathroom which should only take a few minutes and I’m done. Filled 3 plastic grocery bags and one 13 gallon garbage bag and took them out to the trash.

It was one of those days where I had to make hundred of quick decisions so my mind is a bit tired. I read an article a while back that said teachers make up to 3 thousand decisions a day. Never really thought about it, but it made sense to me. Especially when you’re teaching 5 periods a day with 20 kids in each class… not to mention what goes on outside the classroom and during your planning period. Lucylee had more than me…bet she had at least 150 kids a day. No wonder we came home tired
