Write it Wednesday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

“Wednesdays are for writers, and directors, and actors. Wednesdays are for creating art, and poetry, and poetry in motion. Wednesdays are for protest, and rebellion, and activism. Wednesdays are for words from my notebook.” — N’Zuri Za Austin
I don't know who the author is, but liked the quote! Remember to write today, whether it's the to do list or the creative mind working. I'm thinking of Nancy and her journals right now!

And what shall we protest and rebel against today? The heat? Yes, please!

I started a post downstairs but wandered off and left it. Another day of genealogy institute but I won't go to the evening Zoom. They are on other subjects and this one doesn't interest me. Dh is home so we'll have supper, trying to figure it out without overheating later. High will be 97 or 98, not sure whether broiling in kitchen or going to the grill is cooler.

Tomorrow night dh is having a baseball night for invited clients. We have a box and he wants me to show up. I am going , and thankfully, the heat is breaking. High only around ninety tomorrow. The A/C in the boxes is not great anyway.

Hi all. Enjoying the AC after being out earlier this morning. The floor in our old shed is giving way. After more than thirty years we figure it's time to replace it. Found one we like but have another place several towns away to check out on another day before making a decision.

Then off to S taples to look for a new office chair. I love my old chair so much that I even bought a cover for it when the material on it started flaking off. But the seat is totally wonky now -- one side is several inches higher than the other & I'm using pillows on it until I get a replacement. Tried most of the chairs they had. My old chair is curved so it supports my back. Their chairs had straight backs, backs that curved the opposite way, or built in lumbar supports that were either too high or too low for me. Then I sat in a hard mesh chair with a nice curved back support & thought it was the one. Dh was still browsing through the store so I sat for a few minutes & am glad I did because my back started to hurt from the hard support. There was no give or cushioning on the back of the chair, only the seat. I'll have to find other stores that carry office chairs.

Heads up to watch for ticks after being out in the woods or around high grass. Dh found one of those teeny tiny ones on his stomach & there was a bullseye rash around it about the size of a quarter. I urged him to get a Dr appointment asap to get antibiotics & he did. Lyme disease is nothing to fool around with.

More to say but dh is calling to make lunch. Hope everyone is staying cool in this heat. ~~~ Waving to everyone here & all who stop by later. :)

Home from a successful VBS day #3. I really do enjoy interacting with little ones.

Today the heat index today is 110F. Feels like is 114F. These are temperatures we typically get in August. I'm not a fan of having them start in June.

Mr 15 years old high & endless energy is feeling the heat after working in it for hours. Some of those hours included wearing a welding helmet. He came home from work feeling exhausted and fell into bed to take a nap. I am 99% sure he will be refreshed and ready to go again in a couple hours. He has friends here every night. I have been telling DS15 that his friends need to leave by 10pm so he can get some sleep. Last night I looked on the camera to see 4 of them in the driveway working on vehicles. I called DS15 at 10:15pm and told him that either he tell them to leave or I will. Within 5 minutes they were gone and DS15 was headed to bed.

I told DD13 to be ready to go shopping this afternoon. I want her to use this to practice looking people in the eye and talking to them. She would be a recluse if allowed. She says it is exhausting to be around people and watch for the social cues. I am insisting that she continues to practice it. She isn't a fan of doing it but does understand that it is a good skill for her to have.

Tonight is VBS family night. The parents & families come watch their kids on stage showing what they have learned at VBS.

I am having a 12 hour day with most of the hours filled. I'm looking forward to having a slower paced summer day......someday soon, I hope.

I’m home from appt with dmom and that went well — doctor said CAT scan was okay, it might drain some more but just to watch it and if she had no complaints? He would see her in 6 months.
Also stopped at the mall and got her a pair of shoes.

Now I’m home and have over 4 hours till party.
Tomorrow is another day.

Catching up...

Went to class and then to coffee with my friends. Made it to my door just as the downpours began. Ate my breakfast or brunch and watched some Perry with Sweetie. I needed to go to my Farmer Joe's to pick up more apples. In all the time I've known Sweetie I've never seen him eat an apple. Then when the kids were here last week I fixed some apples for their snack and Sweetie decided he wanted one too. Since then he has eaten an apple a day. I eat them too, but not every day. so I needed to buy some more.

While there I bought some more CA White peaches because they have been so tasty, and them on an impulse bought two pears. For some reason my strawberries and blue berries haven't been that good this season, I am eating two servings of fruit a day. I had an orange for brunch and will cut up my apple and microwave it with cinnamon and artficial sugar for my dessert. I came home and sat by the pool for just a little while until it got too hot for me.

My chicken Marsala that I made last night was divine. Unfortunately I could only taste a bit...it has flour and wine and not on my eating plan. However there is enough for Sweetie to have leftovers tonight. I took some to my friend who is still recovering from her shoulder surgery and was going to freeze what I had left, but Sweetie asked if he could have it again tomorrow night. That's a win for me.

I decided I was really tired of the same ole same ole dinners I was making which is why I making things I usually cook for company. Its interesting cause most meals have rice or noodles and other things I am trying to stay away from and I am finding I am really enjoying my time cooking. Go figure!

I'm about to climb on my gazelle to get my steps in. Love the fact I have figured out how to attach my kindle so I can read at the at the same time.

LadyM...I don't envy you with all the heat. Even though I am not longer in it, I sure don't miss it.

Twins... glad to know your box at the stadium has A/C. That should make for a better evening...And how about our Vols!!!

Lucylee...hope your evening is a success and you can enjoy your family. I have a friend who lost her husband a year ago and she's still a mess. Everytime we are at a gathering, she ends up crying. You are doing so great even though I know there are times that are hard for you.

Waving to yall...Seeya :D:

Dove, here, HRH has been searching for a new office chair that really suits him. Months have passed. I really don't know where he is on the decision. I'll ask if he has any insight or has just decided to hang on to the old. The one time I went with him, he kept jumping right up from chairs and shaking his head.

Thanks for reminder about ticks. Hope your dh has no problem at all after dr's visit.

Ramblin', good job on your success you mentioned in H and F. It was nectarines that looked so good to me in grocery yesterday, so I grabbed some. Just at that firm but juicy stage, yum.

LadyM, welding, even? Wow. Make sure that kid is drinking water!

Trip out with dd44 to library was kinda successful and I did find one book. This is a beautiful, relatively new library, quite spacious. But the spaciousness seems to go along with way too few books. Creative topics, health topics that I would have expected a couple dozen books each had 10 or fewer, even 5 or fewer. Dd says this is why she almost exclusively looks online and has books sent to convenient locations these days.

Enjoyed the time with WonderBoy riding along on the way. Kept showing him homes and locales as we rode, in an attempt to give him a sense of place, community. I think he was listening, lol!

Watered extensively before we left. Dd said she had gone ahead and mowed grass, then heard the forecast for rain was moved even further into the future. My lawn is sad, for sure.
