I'm up early, but still playing hookey from work. While I decide what to do with my day, I'll set out some fruit, muffins, juice, tea, and coffee. Help yourselves!

Twins… congrates on your publication!
LadyM.. ditto to what all are saying abt simplifying your life. Glad to know you decided to do this. And remember.. raising teenage boys ain’t for the faint of heart. Happy to see your sons friend showed up to help out. Sounds like he has a good heart but may just be a late bloomer finding his passion for life. My brother was one of those and later became a skilled builder, fire chief an excellent husband at 31 and fabulous father of 4 extremely successful children. His last ..my ballerina now RN niece..daughter was born when he was 42!

Re: Independence Thursday
I was able to sleep despite fireworks blooming.
We have walked early.
Watered in back on the grassy part.
Had bfast on the go.
A bit of a cold & cough still hanging on so I'll be doing self care & writing.
Sheets need to get in the wash later on when we retreat to the basement b/c of the noise x in the dryer now .
Smoke to the South East of us has blocked my view of the mtns. but it's drifting away from us.
Neighbor got a new John Deere lawn tractor one of the smaller ones.
I did an extra day of qt stuff so I can skip a day might happen today.
Task list got filled out.
I need to get my meat out chicken pieces x
Shrimp my meal plans for dinner.
Dev. egg too. x
Have a great day all! Waving.

Re: Independence Thursday
Thank you for opening, bittersweet. A very important day, if marred by an odd new threat to believing what every U.S. history or civics class ever taught a student. So many times, literally "on the test", for ease of our lifelong remembrance.
Today the newlyweds return to pick up more of dd's belongings and visit with us.
We still don't know if dstepdil is recuperated enough from a sprained ankle to help dstepson with inviting us to a cookout. I find myself inclined to decline, so that she can rest. Their wonderful outdoor entertainment area is ideal for get-togethers, but not meant to be a commitment.
Some gardening chores are on my radar.
need to ask dd about cutting my hair.
Today's Challenge for July decluttering is the Linen Closet
.......Mystery and lucylee, your funny comments were too good - I quoted you in our thread.
I have a stopped-up ear, which bugs me - this never happens. I wonder if it has to do with stopping Clar iten, which I'd been using since dr's appt, at least. I felt I didn't need it anymore - some change in pollen(s) - but this is the morning after the first day without. Hmmm... ..

Re: Independence Thursday
I think it's time for me to get to work here, or the morning will be gone before I know it. I've done a few things (and in my usual way, tend to think of them as just "stuff" rather than tasks because each one takes less than five minutes:
- refilled meds
- fed ddoggos
- ate breakfast
- took morning meds
- put away clean dishes
- made the bed
I'm going to try to get some things done outside today. The weather is supposed to be nicer (a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 24C (75F)), then getting hotter and sunnier by the day until - as far as the forecast goes - next Wednesday when it will be 33C (91.4F!) I'm not a fan of that kind of heat, so am very glad we had central air installed a few years ago. We also have excellent air conditioning at work, thank goodness!
Up next:
- wash dishes
- wash living room floor (I do - luckily - have another mop I can use, and heaven help the universe if this one breaks!
)
- check decluttering thread for today's challenge
- bake oatmeal chocolate chip cookies
- online grocery order
- refilled meds
- fed ddoggos
- ate breakfast
- took morning meds
- put away clean dishes
- made the bed

Re: Independence Thursday
We're going to the river today, gonna be hot hot and hot. We have a heat advisory, temp to be nearly 100 and feels like ?? I don't know how LadyM and her family do it! We will probably take two cars so I can get home for ddog if dh wants to stay later.
Ddog did okay last night. There was a concert downtown with a massive fireworks display, went on for quite a long time. I bet we could see it but I didn't go out. I probably overmedicated her but it's only twice a year and vet visits I forget how much. She's still pretty sluggish this a.m. I walked her three laps this a.m. to try to get some out of her system for the day. (Vet has said I can go to two pills, I gave her 1.5 so not over the dosage but will go with one for tonight.)
Trying to finish this, I've interrupted myself and wandered off multiple times for what feels like hours. I'm going to finish a.m. routine and head out to river.

Re: Independence Thursday
Good Morning!
Bittersweet - Thank you for opening the village and getting us started today.
We don't have a lot of plans for today. DS15 is going to his girlfriend's family gathering and will do & watch fireworks with them. DD13 has begged me to not make her do fireworks or watch them. She has less than zero interest in fireworks and doesn't want any part of the noise. I have asked DD13 and DH for their request for food today. Anything sound good? They both gave a negative answer. Whatever here is fine. I reminded them of local places that are serving food today, but they don't want to go out to eat.
Today is our last 100+ temperature for a while. Tomorrow our temps drop 10-15 degrees and we will be in the 85-95'F temp range for the next week or so. Break out the hoodies and coats! I expect 90F will feel chilly.

Re: Independence Thursday
The cookies are done, and everything else on the list is done, as well. Now I'll have to come up with more tasks that aren't hugely time consuming
Hmmmm.....
- go through a couple of boxes in the basement
- get the Value Village boxes into the basement
- declutter the bedding
- store away the extra towels
- get DH's stuff in the washer

Re: Independence Thursday
I am home from teenage uber trip #1 of the day. 38 miles there and back to drop DS15 where he will do 4th of July celebration with his girlfriend. I took DD13 with me and managed to talk her into getting something to eat. She chose fried chicken.
DH is visiting on the phone with a cousin. I am enjoying listening to them share their childhood memories.

Re: Independence Thursday
I'm in the "I dislike fireworks and crowds" camp! I try my best to ignore/avoid fireworks. Sometimes crowds cannot be avoided, but I no longer go to outdoor festivals.
I had lunch out with a friend. Now I'm going to make dh linguine and alfredo sauce (from a jar).
Very hot here today. Numerous bad accidents on the highway between here and Niagara, with 3 really bad accidents before noon going towards Toronto.
