Five, Jive, Thrive, Friday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Figure out your big five, do a little jive along the way (conga line style?), and thrive through Friday! We got this!

I've been putting clean dishes away from the dish rack. Switched the laundry over to the dryer. Cleaned both cat litter boxes. Emptied garbage can in bathroom. Gotten dressed and brushed my hair/washed my face. I guess I've done 5 things. I was sitting here thinking I haven't gotten much done yet today.

Cheeseburgers for supper.

Knitting this afternoon, although I will be cross stitching.

I think I should go out and cut the grass. Dh has done it for at least the past 2 weeks, maybe 3.

I am achy today - I don't think I wrote that I fell yesterday. Was vacuuming in the bedroom and backed into the low wooden chest that usually sits at the foot of the bed. I feel backwards onto it and then rolled over. I must had protected left side and this morning my right neck and shoulder feel a little stiff. Of course, I also worked out yesterday and before, probably did too much on the big bed switch.

I walked ddog three laps already. Humidity is lower but it's still getting way hot. Temp to be near 100 again by Sunday.

I've been lollygagging about, although I have been icing my left hand/wrist. lo

Big Five today:
-work on questions/comments re: article
-Instacart order for groceries
-separate and repot peace lily
-decide how to wrap a bridal shower present and procure wrap or bag, as necessary
-look at closet to decide whether I have something suitable for 3 August wedding

I haven't figured out our supper yet.

Good Morning!

This morning, we have a rare few hours without teens in the house. DD13 left at 6am to make/sell donuts with DD47. DS15 left 7ish for work.

I am so used to being in parenting mode that I forget what life with just DH and myself is like.
Alexis - play 60's rock and roll music
Alexis - increase volume
Alexis - increase volume more!
:D :D :D :D :D

DD13 and DS15 will both be back around noon today.

I take DH to start his 14 day heart monitoring vest test this afternoon. I have never seen this equipment so have no idea what to expect.

Most of the grass has been cut. I may have missed a couple of spots. Dh delivered some cucumbers and zucchinis to some neighbours.

We spent some time on the patio together.

I'm going to cross stitch for a while. It "looks" like there isn't anything to do. Maybe I should put my glasses on.

Twins: I love the opening!

I'm back for a couple of days, maybe up to 5.

I last posted June 30th and predicted that I wouldn't be able to post for a while.

I was right.

Canada Day was very busy but fun. DD and the kids slept over (so they could watch the fireworks from here) and July 2 was overwhelming because dgs3 arrived at 6:45 and dd ended up sick so I had 3 little ones to take care of. We baked cornbread and enjoyed a live professional cello performance in my living room (by a neighbour's adult son who was visiting), emptied the laundry room for the washer repairman, and mid afternoon dd got strong enough to head home by transit with the kids (because the car wasn't reliable.) I then had to strip both the guest bed (where she had been sleeping) and my bed (because we had to move her into my bed when it was time for dgs3's nap) and do that laundry.

The car battery was replaced at our parking spot on Wednesday and there was no charge. (That was a surprise.)

Dgs went home on Thursday after nap and I took the kids and dd to the cottage on Friday, arriving home on Sunday. Dgs3 was back here when I arrived home and stayed until Tuesday. Dh did a great job caring for him and getting dinner for him. I arrived home at 6:30 and could hear dgs laughing away at some game he and dh were doing at the table. I got a lovely hug from him and he went off to bed happily at 8, so he wasn't too much work at that point.

Dgs3 and I both got sick from dd on July 2 so we've both been miserable for over a week but it culminated in me having to sleep with dgs on Monday night and only getting 5 broken hours of sleep. I have a cough that comes and goes. It gets bad in the evening but, surprisingly doesn't disrupt my sleep. So I'm surviving but I've been going to bed late each night so am barely getting 7 hours of sleep a night. Dgs wasn't napping well so I've broken my napping habit just because I can't.

I had a meeting on Wednesday, missed exercise class because of my cold, and used that time to work on writing a presentation to present on Thursday night so this is my first day off with no expectations from anyone since June 25. Dgs3 was supposed to be here today but on Monday ds swapped shifts even before I had to ask him if dsgd15 could babysit today instead of me. I honestly don't know if I could have cared for dgs3 today. Tuesday dh did the majority of the work, taking him to the park for an hour so I could get dressed. I just sat and watched Cars movies with dgs (plus some time on the balcony blowing bubbles) and fed him. Oh, and played Hot Wheels with him since I finally pulled out the stuff I bought at a garage sale a year ago and figured out some of what I have (5 launchers but I need more curves and connectors.)

Tomorrow is a party at dd's and Sunday we are singing in church (and have to come up with two pieces for that) so there are things I have to do but nothing that involves me actively spending time with anyone other than dh.

Five things:

Dusting (after finishing writing the presentation yesterday I managed to vacuum and mop floors and deep clean the kitchen but dusting didn't get finished).

Laundry - the washer just finished and I have to hang it up.

Pick music for Sunday and practice with dh

Walk to the store and buy vitamins. Dh went to Costco for me on Wednesday while I was writing and then Thursday I went to refill my dispensers and discovered we are out of Omegas. I don't want to spend my day off shopping so I'll buy some at the local store and pay too much.

Dinner out at our local pizza place.

I may or may not jive while I dust.

After I figured out our dinner, dh called to suggest we have dinner out with friends. So I made a reservation, which can be cancelled of course, and texted them. (Her phone went straight to voice mail.)

I need to peel myself up and get busy. I did Instacart order and ate a protein bar for my brunch.

Long phone call...I am still struggling to get anything done actually. Oh, and we're not going out this p.m. After dh had called asking me to make these arrangements he was on the phone to A, the dh, and they aren't able to go. So cancelled reservation. On the plus side I emptied dishwasher and filled up meds while talking, tho.

I just rubbed Volaren into my hands and took a couple of Tylenol.

I'm struggling to finish a.m. routine, haven't s2s-ed yet either.

Kathryn - Welcome Home! You have been busy. I hope the sick germs are gone and stay away.

I am enjoying having paper based OMM list. In the last week I have filled up one sheet of paper with things that I want to do/research/followup on. I have about half of those items crossed off. This is a dramatic difference from my tendency to procrastinate & ignore things when I get overwhelmed. Just having them out of my head is a help. Bonus because I review that list every morning and find that it is easy to pick and choose one or two things to tackle on most days.

I might be in the running for the BEST NANA IN THE ENTIRE WORLD award. I expect DS15 will want to nominate me when he sees what I did for him.
>>>sarcasm<<<<
I picked all his STUFF up from the yards and piled it into the back of his pickup. I expect he will be suitably impressed with my help.
His pickup bed is now filled with his STUFF while the yards are clear. Works for me. I am so pleased with my helpful accomplishment.
