CI / I OK fire red flag warnings up for this afternoon winds
Fire war is ongoing but not near me.
Most is in central Ore. / 100 people had to be evacuated with help of Natl. guard.
AQI / 129 unhealthy for sensitive groups.
I did not walk today.

Up at 5:15 did q.t.
Fighting sniffles might be from the smoke.
Smells like a camp fire outside here.
Friends that have a farm up on the prairie land had been fighting fires.

In side stuff to list and think about like washing sheets doing laundry...
I did take the biscuit dough to the basement this morning.
Got my steps in for this part of the day.

One home lost up river on the way to Montana.
They turned power off ahead of the lighting storm.
Good journaling info. need to do that.

Go bag get ready for our county mostly for air quality.
And those closer to the fires in our laying areas.
I live 1/2 block from fire chief so feel safe!

Good News! AQI had dropped to the moderate range!
Winds came a bit and cleared out some smoke.
Walked a block with ddoggo. That helped her to be more settled.
Watering in back now.

Good Morning!

Twins - Thank you for opening PWYC today.

I am trying to change my viewpoint from short term to longer term. From daily to weekly. From weekly to monthly. etc. It is a process.

I am intentionally making myself be in slower motion this week. Not having an alarm to wake up. Not doing hourly step challenges. My daily step count average has dropped about 1K steps from last week. I am okay with that. It is a small window of time that I can do this. DS15 returns from camp in two days. School starts 2 weeks from today. It will not be possible to be in slow motion once those things happen.

Declutter/Deep Cleaning games continue. DD13 will be picking 2 cards from the sack to do today. DH chose number 9 for us to do today. The 9th card in the stack is the vanity in DD13 bathroom. That is super easy so I will be doing a bonus decluttering of my choice.

We will have light rain most of the day today, off and on. Walked Millie only one lap but she did her business. We'll walk again, in rain if we need to.

I honestly can't foresee using a lot of the institute info. I thought this would be more interesting. My gluteal muscles (nice way of saying my butt) still ache.

I needed to do an HOA check this a.m. I left it in the mailbox of the committee chair to get it to the recipient. I also mailed a check that I wrote a week ago that isn't due until now.

Morning girls…

I slept till almost 8:00 this morning. Unheard of for me.

Today is laundry day and the twins are doing their magic. I changed the sheets on my bed and remade it with clean ones. No footprints and all morning routines done

I can’t get my new robotic vacuum to pair with my app so a friend of mine is coming over this afternoon to see if he can get it to work. He has one similar to mine and helped me choose this one.

I named my robot Einstein cause I thought he would be great at this, but right now he ain’t too smart

what is the variety of zinnias or mix?

I have no idea. These seeds were bought last fall when Dollar store put all their garden things on clearance. The pack of zinna seeds was 25 cents and I didn't keep the package after planting the seeds this spring. There does seem to be a mixture and variety of zinnas. Some of the zinnas have a big center like coneflowers and some are shaped more like a carnation.
I just started cutting the zinna and bringing them indoors for bouquets. I typically don't bring flowers inside because I'm a big scaredy cat about bugs and spiders. Today I brought a handful of zinna cut flowers inside and had to deal with a small spider and a praying manta.

Today, my thoughts are completely taken up with the horrific news from Jasper - a small tourist town about 250 miles west of Edmonton. It's a world famous tourist destination, and is being burned to the ground by a raging wildfire. I just can't get my head around it. When I was a teenager, we lived in Hinton - about 45 miles east of Jasper, and we went out there sometimes weekly. The scenery, the wildlife, the history, the culture... and it's all gone

Late Monday night, an evacuation order was issued for the entire Jasper National Park (over 4300 sq mi), and by yesterday around 6:45pm, the fire reached the outskirts of the town. Around 25,000 people (4700 from the town, and the rest visitors to the park) were gotten out safely. Even the first responders, and any firefighters without self sustained breathing apparatus have been evacuated now.

I'm at work, but not getting much of anything done, I have to admit.

bsweet, I saw photos of the evacuation with car backed up going out. I understand

LadyM, no, these topics are on things I've never done. I can see some uses going forward, if I need to learn how to do this, I'll learn it. I'll have the syllabus or utube videos and figure it out. And these are top-notch people in the field of genealogy. Many have been certified far longer than I have. The lawyer dude who is the "coordinator" is not a genealogist, or certified in genealogy, but I found he had taught at this institute for a long time. Perhaps he's just getting old? He taught three of four sessions Monday, only one on Tuesday, and doesn't come back until the recap on Friday. Perhaps they consider he's okay for the limited time he's teaching?


We had a 30 min break at 12:15. I walked ddog around he circle and also went next door to free their French bulldogs for a few minutes. Neighbors are all away for the day. I wanted to walk Millie again in case it's raining later.

When I first started researching over twenty years ago I put copies of census and other records into binders. I still have a bunch of binders so I pulled one out to purge as I'm listening. It had info, probably written by my father between 1975 and 1985 listing his maternal grandparents and their children and birthdates and death dates. I have all that info, but some dates differ. I think it may have come from a family bible - I know my parents send a family bible to my uncle at one point so he could document his date of birth, and they never got it back. What a treasure.

Jasper is big in our news but I am glad Nancy posted because I was wondering if the Oregon fires were affecting her.

We are on the way to the cottage, under 2 hours if we don't stop. Dgs is asleep in the back seat so we'll drive as long as he is sleeping for sure even though that means giving up our lemonade stop.

Getting off went OK. Car isn't loaded logically but I'm pretty sure everything important made it into the car. Dgs3 left his stuffy at daycare so we had a detour on the way out of town!

I must admit I am a bit down in the dumps about not being able to do my regular morning out side stuff.
Started laundry basement is nice.
Cooler so no need for a/c yea!
Glad air is better and I can see hills to the North of us.
Talked to a couple on the loop that ride bikes for their exercise.
Lunch is in a few I need a plan for that.

The one fire that killed 300 cattle is like 100 mi. from me half days drive over mtns. to get there.
A fun ride on motor cycle in good weather.
