Storm
On phone. No computer. Lights on bedroom side of house out plus master bath and in master bath additional problems still confusing. Electrician tomorrow.

Did not have this on my bingo card. Backfeed, says ds', ran into house finding weakest point. Strange symptoms talked over with electrician. Both my smoke detectors tested so we are to go ahead and stay home, assume well know more tomorrow. Have air, and house phone, water, half of house powered.

Aftermath :

Ds' children are tubing down the ditch from their house. Plenty of room, wide new stream, clean water over the drowned grass in the ditch. A nice slope for them or paddling. Enjoying in their bathing suits. Their mom is so quick with camera so they will have a meandering  memory.

Harriet: we had that once at the house in the village. Apparently the feed to my meter is split in two and one of the two feeds was damaged but the other was fine, so we had power in some parts of the house but not others. It was a simple fix for us and free because it was on the utility company's side of the demarkation point.

I'm exhausted.

We were in the water over an hour. He insists on going in until he can't touch and then swimming with his "swim buddy" (arm and chest floaties, strapped on with a clip) holding him up. He's little work in the water because nothing fazes him, including wake bobbing him and wavelets hitting his face. My job is to throw his airplane which crashes to the surface, usually upside down, and he swims over to rescue the pilot. We did that plus him towing me on the lounger (that he did where he could touch because he couldn't pull the lounger and carry the plane, AND swim at the same time.)

Dgs still didn't eat much for dinner after all that time in the lake after his very long nap. He was in bed by 8:30 and didn't fight us or ask for more milk.

I need to get him up and take him to the potty to see if that helps avoid a flooded bed tonight. He sleeps on his side and the "pull up) doesn't catch/absorb all the liquid at the edges so it leaks at the legs.

Dh is in bed. I will follow shortly.

Dgs gave me a goose-egg. He was trying to open the screen door from the porch to the cottage and I was leaning down because his underwear was around his ankles in preparation for why he was in a hurry to get inside. It has one of those attachments that stops a door from slamming hard but it makes it hard to open. He got it with a jerk and hit me in the temple. The shock was really bad and I couldn't stop crying. He managed to 'hold it' until the potty chair and so there was no additional mess except I've discovered that I raise my eyebrows when I drink water and raising my eyebrows stretches the skin over the goose-egg and hurts.

(((Kathryn))) Isn’t that strange, how we realize we make certain motions that we never noticed until something like your goose egg happens. I hope it feels better by tomorrow.

Harriet, we also had a half-power outage like that once. It was very surprising but I think it was fixed just like Kathryn described.
I love the “picture” of your dgrands playing in the ditch! Such fun!

I did not meander by choice this morning, but What. A. Day.
This was THE PLAN:
Take dgs to practice at 8:00 am
Pick up dgs at 10;00 am
In between, fill up car, come home, start laundry, have productive day.

THIS is what happened:
Dgs saw me go to the bathroom around 6:00, decided it was a good time to start giving me a series of fun facts re: botulism and other toxic substances. By 6:30, I asked him if I could please sleep a little while longer. He went away until my alarm went off at 7:15.
I had him at the field not much after 7:30.
7:45, 8;00, no one shows…
Dgs: “Maybe it’s at 9:00 today…”
Hmmm… talk to ds/ddil on the phone, on their way to doctor with Dgd… they don’t know… “why don’t you start paying a little more attention, dgs… ?” etc…
A little after 8:30, I send a fb message to dcousin, their coach: “does dgs have practice today?”
Cousin replies quickly, THANK GOODNESS: “picture, 9:30, high school.”
!!!!!!!!!

There is no telling what dgs’ IQ is. I only say that, not to brag, but to say also, there is no limit to how oblivious he can be.
We leave middle school, go to high school (within walking distance actually, but we drove — it might be half a mile.)

Finally — boys get dressed, get pictures made, but y’all… it takes a long time to take group and individual pics of six grades of ball players and six grades of cheerleaders. These will be in the football program this fall. I am certainly glad we did not miss out.
Ordered pictures after texting ds the packages available.
It was sooo hot and humid out there.

After all this, another hour, back at middle school, while boys get their helmets and locker assignments.

We finally were finished, ate at McD’s, came home, and dgs went to sleep and slept for FIVE HOURS.

I did get two loads of laundry done, but I napped also.

Tomorrow I have to take fruit tray for funeral at church, older lady. Mother of one of my dbro’s old girlfriends. I’ll stay for funeral, ds is playing at it.
Dgd is spending the night tonight.

Good night, all.
Tomorrow is another day.
