I also TOTALLY understand your concerns about your own teenage driver, LadyM... (((HUGS))). My mother-in-law always said, "You really learn to pray when your child starts driving." I remember those days well. Eventually you stop checking the windows for his return and relax a little, and there are a LOT of advantages to the child doing his own driving... whew... For us, it meant no more wild angry rush trips to school in the mornings because we were waiting on a child that couldn't get ready on his dad's timetable.
For you, it's obvious... no more 40-mile trips to see a girlfriend. 
I still worry about him, of course. He's on the road a lot late at night, and some of those trips, he's alone. DGD, BTW, is going through a stage where she worries about him a lot. She told me, "He might be in a car crash." I think subconsciously, she is worrying more about him because she realized with dh's death that things CAN happen and now she's afraid something will happen to him.
I might add, one of the most rewarding things about parenthood is seeing how ds's children love him. DGD just practically worships her daddy. (Wonder how she'll feel at 15?) Right now, she thinks he is just about perfect. This is really amazing to me, because I think my own relationship with my dad was probably contentious from the time I learned to speak.
Well... absolutely NO wins so far on this day. I'm embarrassed to tell y'all, I am still sitting in bed, typing on my wonderful Chromebook, watching TV, scrolling on my phone... and totally wasting this day. Wasting Wednesday... not Wednesday Wins.
OTOH, I have been up fairly early (for me) the last two days, and they have been very trying days in some ways.
So maybe I'm just recuperating from the weekend and the past two days.
I wish I could become a morning person, like Nancy and so many of you!
I definitely understand your excitement about the new journal and pens and planners. I keep up with three calendars PLUS my planner... and I am thinking about using a small looseleaf notebook (5x8 size?) as a sort of bullet journal/regular journal to keep up with my Bible reading insights and how things are progressing on this grief journey. I know I have progressed... the first few weeks, there were nights that DS and I would talk on the phone late into the night. That doesn't happen much anymore. Last night DS was very talkative, but it was about coaching differences, etc, how appreciative he is of the coaches DGS has, compared to most of the ones he played for.
That is great news that the family loves the least expensive meal, LadyM! Yesterday, ddil's dad told me one cut of steak (T-bone, maybe?) costs $17-$18 dollars per pound!
He is working in the meat department at grocery store. I just couldn't believe it. How does anyone afford these kinds of prices? (Tonight I am having leftover pizza from Monday when I went out with DS and dgrands. I let him pay. Then last night, I paid. I'm trying to alternate who pays, and I try not to "initiate" the plans if it's his turn to pay. I figure if he calls me, he accepts the fact that he MIGHT be the one to pay.
Of course, it's expensive to eat out with 4/5 people. He often gets DDIL something and takes it to her at the hospital. DGD will still order off the kids' menu but no way is DGS eating a kids' meal these days.(((Harriet))) That IS a strange thing with the lightning strike and your electricity. I am so glad it was no worse!
I guess I'm down a rabbit hole of laziness today. First day in at least five days that I have nothing I HAVE TO do and no one who needs me to care for them.
Twins, we do have coyotes, but fortunately I don't see them often around my house. I do sometimes see deer at night in the pasture, and we have rabbits. Thank goodness I have not seen a skunk in quite a while!
Dmom called last night to report a hornet's nest under the eaves of her house. She has a professional coming today to remove it.
Oh yes... Rose... ponytails and buns are my go-to! ESPECIALLY in summer!!! But I do need to wash my hair. I try to do every third day.
There was more I wanted to say here, but y'all -- I have been on the phone with ds for two hours!!! He is driving (alone) to Mississippi. I love talking to him, but... I need to s2s. I did eat breakfast and do my 15 minute (indoor) walking while we have been talking. I'll bbl.
It has a sort of bias-tape, I think you call it, that goes around the neck and up and down the snap panel.
