Funny Friday

Post by CathyS »

Hi!

I got out of bed just after midnight because I could not sleep. I went on FBook. The very first thing I saw was a graphic regarding the storm and the projected path for rain. Let me just say that I haven't laughed at comments on FBook like the comments I read last night in many, many months. A lot of people just posted about how their sense of humor must be like a 12 year old boy, due to what this graphic looked like. My goodness. I had tears pouring down my face. After that I went back to bed with a grin on my face and fell asleep almost as soon as I put my head on the pillow. I guess laughter is good for the soul. I know we are all dealing with a lot of things, like rashes, recovering from surgery, dealing with loss, family members, etc. Try to find something to laugh at today. It isn't always easy and it isn't always appropriate, but sometimes it's something that we didn't know we needed.

It's pouring rain here and dh is out in the garage.

No idea what is for supper tonight.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Good morning!
laughter is good for the soul
I totally agree.
I think that is one reason I love being around little ones. They embrace life and can spontaneously laugh about the smallest things. I need to remind myself to enjoy the moments.

I am anticipating having a nice boring day. Bring on the hours that are not already filled. Bring on the excitement of being able to accomplish things. Bring on the luxurious calmness that I get when doing activities that I love.

I have 2 foods that I am cooking today to add to our ready-to-eat stash -
** 3lbs of ground chicken. I will cook half of it plain and the other half with vegetables (onion, garlic, peppers). Having the protein ready-to-eat makes meal prep easy and can be used to prepare a variety of dishes.
** Tilapia filets. I will be cooking them in a cast iron skillet that gives a crusty exterior with a soft interior. Our favorite way to cook them.

No cooking is required but I will be assembling ingredients in multiple creami tubs for the freezer.

Journaling walk about and a bite of bfast is what I've been up to.

Also have some more energy bout half as much as on a good day but glad for the improvement.

Heading over to my journey thread for some of the prompts I was to put in there that
I've tweaked my pink journal to have in it. A few pages left in my other note book I"m using up first about three days worth in it.

The HVAC fella called and managed to fit us in today. He went through a/c unit and found a part not working. He will get it ordered and fixed asap. He said service call/labor/parts are all under warranty since the unit is new.

Our outside temperature has dropped and is only in the 90's today. I am thankful to have this break especially since one of the a/c units is struggling. The temperature will be back to triple digits on Sunday.

DS16 left for work at daybreak and is off work at noon. He has a friend here doing what they love to do...something outdoors that includes motors, lights, sound, wheels. I don't try to keep up with what they are doing. When they explain it to me, I just nod my head and smile. I know that at this moment it involves oil in the 6.0

The chicken dish turned out marvelous. I tweaked the ingredients until I couldn't think of anything that would enhance the flavor or texture better than what it already is.

Reasonable productive day so far.

Mouse 3 has been tossed into the woods. We seem to catch one per night.

On the other hand, the two other traps are missing their peanut butter but with droppings left in exchange. Plus I found more droppings on the baking pan that sits on the top of the microwave (which is on the third shelf of a rolling cart, crock pot on bottom shelf, toaster oven on the second shelf, microwave on top shelf with toaster oven pans and the toaster on top of it. Sigh...

At least now I know why I found a set trap (empty of peanut butter) behind the crock pot when I pulled out the rolling cart during deep clean on Tuesday. We've put two snap traps back in place (one on the baking pan with crumbs on it to encourage exploration to the trap, one beside the fridge) and are leaving the bedroom unprotected at the moment.

I'm really tempted to get another of the electronic traps because they seem more reliable than the snap traps and are much easier to clean up after. When we lived in the house, for particularly gruesome snaps I'd just throw out the whole trap. At $1.50 each, it is worth it! But I really hate setting snap traps and I'd say dh is good at it except he hasn't caught a mouse yet in one. Maybe we have very smart mouse and our new tech is confounding them!

I've also cleaned out the dishwasher filter properly, and made our appetizer for tomorrow's party.

It is raining hard here but I did get out for a 20 minute walk in light rain this morning and in a few minutes the rain should stop for a few hours so I'll get out again.

Boy, things are quiet around here today. I mean HERE, in our little village.
It has been fairly quiet for me too.
Awake till after 5:00 am, slept till after 1:00 pm.
I have got to find a way to fix this!

Ta-da —
Colored my hair
Watched 5th video
Took Dgd to eat supper and now we’re back home, and she’s eating ice cream and watching YouTube.

I’m feeling pretty good. I did start a MO thread for myself. Copied and pasted April posts, thinking I can do this for each month and maybe see if my mood/mental state improves.
Tomorrow is another day.

Hoping for lots of good news from Twins' soon.

Mostly my day has been sewing and being a perfectionist. There's also been some gift-wrapping and being a perfectionist.

Ds had to cancel on me. The storm was very hard on them at his work, and it turned out one of the captains was out with lots of covering needed, and then the applications he thought he was finishing accepting for Battalion Chiefs were skewed because a person was dropped by surprise. He was at work until very late.

So, HRH stepped up and will take the gift to yet another cousin tomorrow morning. This is getting complicated, lol, but will be good because he is fb friends with her dh but they never talk in person.

lucylee, I was up until after 3. I shoulda come in here and chatted with you. Again, is it the steroid? I hope so because I did take my last one today. I know it is making me eat too much. I didn't eat while I felt feverish before diagnosis and now I'm making up for it.

That is good that you are gathering your thoughts in that way. I didn't realize you meant you were up until 5 accomplishing that.

Yes, we need to remember all the wise plans made here in the village for getting to bed on time. And "just do it". Of course right now I'm thinking I'll do that for tomorrow. Sigh. Well, because I do have to take the one more set of pills for Anti-Viral.

Oh, you wouldn't believe it - HRH was chatting with his cousinD last night, told her I had shingles again and what do you think? She woke up with something going on with her face (yes, face) this morning, went to the doctor and it is shingles! What in the world is going on, is it an epidemic?
Her doctor gave her meds stronger than mine out of fear for her eyes. HRH told D he was so sorry he infected her with shingles over the phone. I called her later today and chatted it out with her a while. Poor thing.

They say it can be stress. :| So, my question is, stress when? Stress from a panicked late May/early June manifesting itself in early August? Or just generally accumulating stress? lucylee, have you had a shingles shot? HRH's cousin says she bets they were waiting for the 6-month mark to give me a shot and I hadn't reached it before it recurred.
