Motivated Monday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Are you motivated? I'm watching RR and LadyM and others, thinking I should do that stuff? How does one find the motivation? Of course there are others that are motivated here - bsweet with her lists, Cathy and the kitty litter boxes, Nancy with spinning, writing, walking. You guys are motivated!

Peeking in to say "hello" to all you lovely motivated women!

I have taken this session (5 weeks) off payroll, though my supervisor has asked me to help with the writing curriculum we're creating. So, though I'm technically on vacation, I'm still working a little. LOL! She's my friend and she's a bit overwhelmed, and the other teacher working on this project is, frankly, making more work -- so I said "yes". We traveled earlier this month - to England for a family wedding and then Wales for vacation time with a decent contingent of dh's family. DS + F came as well; it was lovely to see them. We don't get to see them very often as they're settled in the Seattle area. We were home for 5 days, and then we headed to N MI to go backpacking in the Porcupine Mts. It's about a 10 hour drive from our home, so same state but rather far away. We got back late Wednesday night, and I've been catching up on sleep and other things since. This week is my only week of time off without travel, so I hope to get caught up on some things around the house as well as do some fun reading! I have given myself a break from visiting my mom this month; I'll go down to see her in September.

I'm having a slow morning but need to be otd in about 30 minutes to a Dr. appointment. Then, I need to go to the grocery store, go for a walk (I jogged yesterday), do some payroll (writing curr. project), and try to figure out some things with my mom's trust and bank. The trustee, who was radio silent for months (even mom's CPAs were emailing me with questions bc she wasn't responding to their queries), FINALLY responded after a phone call on Friday. She sounds like she'll be engaged now - maybe she'll take care of things? We shall see!

Morning girls…

Twins…for me motivation comes when I get really tired of looking at something… like my closets or my drapes that need to be washed. I only start with one chore but what usually happens I find myself so pleased with the results, I look to see what is next.

Plus it wasn’t long ago I had to help empty my moms condo. I’ve already done this 3 other times with Sweeties parents homes. It really helped to inspire me to get rid of things that I no longer use OR more importantly ask… would my son want this.

Yesterday I finally threw away two family albums that had tin types in them. Some were over 150 years old and in the past I felt guilty about getting rid of them. But what motivated me to finally do this was the realization I had no idea who these people were and neither would my son so why was I keeping them.

The only things I hang on to is my good China, which can’t be put in my microwave, placemats and napkins as well as table clothes. This comes from all my years of needed entertaining for my past husband. I have declutter as much as I have a heart to do it. I did go through a bunch of it the other day and discarded some, but all of these things still bring me joy and I use them all the time even though there is just two of us. Plus I have whittled down much of it so they don’t take up much room.

I know in the future I might not live in a place that allows me to keep these things and I’m ok with that. But until then I will enjoy them while I can. I don’t expect my son to keep them and have told him so.

Having to clean out all those homes was really an eye opener for me. All the China and such that my mom cherished we’re no longer wanted by my brother and all her grand children. I did do what my best friend taught me…while visiting her I noticed she was using her mothers good silver for every day use. She said why save it… so I am doing the same.

This from a girl who has two other full chest of silver that belong to my 2 and 3rd great grand mothers that was past down to me. As of now, I am looking for a place to sell them.

I have two other sets of drapes to wash. Will work on those today. Also the drapes in my master bedroom were hung two different ways. They are really bugging me once I realized it.

It feels amazing to open my closets and see every thing in order. Einstein will be working today. He has a lot to do.

Good morning

I get inspired by watching others and how they get things done. I am not so much motivated as following a plan that has developed over time. I have to start small habits and build upon them slowly. Otherwise, I can easily get overwhelmed and shut down.

Helia - it is great to see your check in.

RR & Helia both touched on reasons that I need to GMAT. I have also been part of cleaning out houses after death of loved ones. I don't want to put that burden of dealing with ALL MY STUFF onto loved ones.

DD13 started feeling bad last night. She has 101 fever so is home from school today. We are focusing on keeping her extra hydrated while she is sick.

DS16 left for work around 7am. The good thing about him going to work before homeschooling is it gives me time to finalize his lessons and assignments. Most of them are ready for him to do but I need to go through them again and make sure. I usually do that on the weekend, but it didn't happen....yet.

I had to take a step back from stuff the last two weeks and only did half of my normal stuff because of owie & illness after that.
I'm getting some of my vibe back. It was so motivating to see how much better the kitchen looked yesterday after focusing on that zone the
counters specifically.

Last evening I went out and pruned a bit what I could in just a few min. when I set the sprinkler. Then this morning when I did my walk around the back yard got those put in the can to go to the curb later on. That felt great & I was still waking up gotta luv mornings for doing the worst things first.

I was home more than usual so I did not expose any one to my bug. Plus I needed that rest & down time.
I know several here have been in recoup mode too.

I was up a bit later just not that tired was able to sleep past six yea, heard the early riser leave at 3 down the street but
I stayed in bed and went back to sleep.

Walked.
It is good to see Helia has posted!

Nancy - BWTG!
WTF - Worst Thing First. This brought back good memories of how Elizabeth decided what to do.

I made another pot of my favorite soup. I don't care that it is THE LAST DAY of triple digit heat. I want soup more than I care that it heats the house up.

I gathered some ready-to-eat foods for DD13 and put them on the bar counter. She has a sore throat, queasy stomach, and a headache. Chicken noodle soup (canned), club crackers, and graham crackers. There are many other RTE foods available but I thought these bland foods might be easiest on her stomach. I asked if she wanted some 7up or Sprite, but she didn't. DD13 drinks RO water 99.999999% of the time. She fills up her metal thermos a couple times a day from our Reverse Osmosis faucet.

I think I hardly know what is "normal" for me anymore. It's been so long since I wasn't in a cast or hurting somewhere or not able to bend my arm. I know I have to give this time, I'm still feeling discomfort in moving muscles and ligaments that haven't been moved in months.

Right now I'm so scatterbrained and unmotivated! Motivation should increase as the week goes on because we've got to be packed to go to the beach. Today I have the dental appointment at 3:30. I could have gotten a massage this a.m. but I didn't see text from massage therapist until past 10 p.m. last night, and I just didn't want to try to get there at 10 a.m.
I'm getting some of my vibe back.
This, Nancy.

Also happy to see Helia looking in!

Sending healing thought and mojo motivation to those who need it.

I’ve showered, took my drapes down and put them in the washer. Einstein is buzzing around and I am ready for lunch. Once the drapes are dry, I will iron them and see if I can use Velcro’s tape to attach them together. They are two panels that are suppose to work as one. The other matching set were sewn together with a sewing machine and I don’t have access to one any more. We’ll see how this goes because the drapes in my MB have the same problem

Hi!

Because I worked so hard getting things finished last night, I woke up to a day off. No dishes to wash, no laundry to put away. Even the litter boxes were done. Supper is leftover chicken, so I don't even have to cook!!

Dh was sleeping when I got home for lunch. I am enjoying a chicken breast and tomato and mayo sandwich with a tiny bit of pepper. This is on a fresh bun. So good! This morning I had yogurt with garden fresh strawberries and raspberries and a nectarine from down the street.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

I was very motivated when I went to bed last night, but my motivation seems to have slipped away in the night.
Today’s PODA however is lengthy and I am getting into the shower now.
Tomorrow is another day.
